DIY Wood Coffee Table with Hidden Storage 🛠 Beginner-Friendly Ana White Farmhouse Toy Box Build 💪

I'm excited to share this DIY farmhouse coffee table build we made from Ana White's plans! I've been wanting to do an Ana White build for FOREVER and we finally got around to it. This table has a TON of hidden storage and you can also use it as a toy box (which is what we'll be doing for Finn). Let's get building!

Tulips are from Target Dollar Spot 2020 and 2021, the frame is from IKEA.
★ Wood - we used off-the-shelf pine. If you don't like sanding, consider getting a bit nicer wood to save you time and headache. If you want a cheaper project, use the pieces below, but you will have to do more sanding.

(1) Project Panel, the plans call for 36" x 15-1/4", we bought a 36"x16" panel at Menards and had to trim it down: bit.ly/3r99o4Y (this is the closest I can find online, we got all our sin store.

Screws - approx 10-15, at least 1.5" no longer than 2" - we used cabinet screws: bit.ly/31d1ih3

Minwax Dark Walnut Stain: bit.ly/3rwrZbP
Rustoleum Linen White Chalk Paint: bit.ly/2QmKKkz

★ Cut List and Instructions ★
Cut your 1x4s to create 16 pieces with these measurements. These will come together to make the four sides of the table. We stained these.
8 - 1x4x33"
8 - 1x4x13"
Cut your 1x3 and 1x4 to create 4 pieces each with these measurements. These will become your corner pieces. We painted these white.
4 - 1x3x16.25"
4 - 1x2x16.25"
Cut your second 1x2 to 36". This will become part of the box topper where you will attach your hinges. We stained this piece to match the project panel for a cohesive look.
1 - 1x2 @ 36"
Cut your 1x8 to create 2 pieces at 33" long. These will be screwed together with the Kreig Jig and pocket hole screws. We stained these.

Beautiful Whitney. You two did a great job. My Dad made one for me for my Granddaughters toys at my house 18years ago.. Its in my living room now used as storage but she will get it when she moves out. A great memory piece whenever I look at it.

I think everyone should just try and make something like this and enjoy the accomplishment of standing back and seeing an amazing FINISH!! You both did a great job and I hope the soft closures are working out for Finn so he doesn't get his fingers hurt. TFS Whitney....and great job (as I mentioned to both of you).

ABSOLUTELY..MORE more more!!! Love it.. I enjoy these, now I have you as well as Natalee ( design to the nines) empowering women with power tools! Lol I wish I'd have thought of that 31 years ago.. when my girls were babies.. ( I hated a toy box in my living area.. little tikes were the best safety wise..and sturdy but UGLY!)
It turned out so cute! It's amazing what you can accomplish with a miter saw and pocket holes. That's how I started as well and I've been able to customize so many things in our home, I love it!
One thing to note, wood glue does not stick to sealed surfaces (it doesn't even stick to stained or painted wood well). You might need to go in with screws to make sure it really holds, since brad nails don't have much holding strength without glue. So, if it starts to get wobbly, that'd probably be the easiest fix. Hopefully it's fine though 🤞🏻

Love this and AW plans! Did you get the sliding miter saw? I have had a 10” one which I love for cutting wood signs, but I keep looking at the bigger one...

You open the box and the entire inside hides the toys/other clutter.
