Diving deeper into this game. So obvious to me now. Doctor Darling is The Darkplace. Thomas Zane is a shallow creation of Doctor Darling. That is why details of him are blurred. He was created in a moment of insanity on day 665 when Dr. Darling decided that he needed an artist. Is he a diver? A poet? A director? An actor? It isn't ever quite clear. It has changed. Doctor Darling in these videos is setting and enforcing these rules of his new world. Time isn't linear because Dr. Darling doesn't think that is how time works. You need an artist because Dr. Darling decided you need one. The Dark Place due to Dr. Darling's cheerful attitude remains at least neutral. Even hopeful to begin with. For literal years. All other characters in The Dark Place see it twist against them almost instantly. This tells me that the rules changed after Dr. Darling. The Dark Place wasn't always so emotionally dark. In the insanity of Dr. Darling telling and retelling himself stories alone in the dark searching for an escape only using the resources in his own mind. Creating his own story to freedom. Grasping at elements he knows to be true from his life. An AW in Cauldron Lake. A missing author. He can use those. He had already used them. He was going to use them now. They existed because he had always done it. He would always do it even if he was only doing it now. Events here become confused. Dr. Darling and Thomas Zane work together to literally merge themselves. Thomas Zane no longer fully a story of Dr. Darling begins to have his own agency. Thomas Zane tells his own story. Art that wasn't just representational. That was too diluted to use. It wasn't real enough. They had to weave the two together. Thomas' face. Darling's voice. Science and art in unison. Using the power of the AW to manifest his story into the past. This took years to get right. Different versions of Alan that were all Alan. Events in the other games. @@OperatorVantasame! The most obvious clue is the Psycho song that plays during his flashback with Alan, but there are lots of other clues too - the drunken parties, the wedding ring, the "scratchy" noise that happened when Alan tried to say his name in front of him, and his ability to walk through the Dark Place without a light to protect him. And a bit more obscurely...on his movie posters it says his original name was Thomas Seine. "Seine" has two meanings; it's a type of fisherman's trap, and it can also mean "of the lake". Thomas means "twin". Thomas Seine = "twin of the lake").
The meaning of time also gets me because of quantum break and with Tim Breaker and Jack Joyce. I think it’s getting deeper and the dark place is getting more destructive clearly something is happening and it’s worryingly affecting Alan’s world
...wait so is Doctor Darling creating all of this? I'm pretty sure he just created Zane. He is both creating this reality and it always existed. The first thing he says is time doesn't exist in this place it blurs with itself and the primary reality. The order of things doesn't matter. Things in this reality can bleed into our reality out of sync. welcome to the rabbit hole 🤣 I cant wait for the whole community to find this stuff on Monday and theorise for months maybe years to come ^^
I think Zane is Scratch. He resembles Mr. Scratch from Alan Wake american nightmare
Thomas Seine = "twin of the lake").
there are 2 tom zanes. the evil one in AW 2 and the good one in AW1. aw1 had 667 aw2 had 665
Events can happen for Darling in a specific order, but the consequences for our reality are random throughout our realities concept of time.
I'm pretty sure this is early Zane and he manifested him. Zane is saying the things Darling wants for a reason.
it's basically "Drawing Hands" from M.C. Escher ^^
@@ChampionsOfLight and Ahti the cosmic janitor to make sure things occur as they should?
Which would mean the FBC essentially serves him. Making sure things go as they need to. Which kind of makes sense. We know that the true job of The Director is to be Ahti's Assistant.
@@Fatikis42 in my little head canon door is a manifestation of space and anti a metaphor for time ^^
I'm missing some big chunks without having played Alan Wake 2, but that theory makes sense based on what I know.
thats the beauty of the RCU .. everybody is right until specifically stated otherwise in the games which is rare :P
I think Tom Zane might just be a nice guy
same, he's like a machine god at this point just helping everyone out lol
I feel like the only time he wasn't was when alan shot him. He had sinister vibes there but otherwise he seems like a chill dude
Seems like alan escaped and zane is just using someone else to help him escape the dark place, probably gonna be the basis for control 2 or alan wake 3
what if this happened prior to everything else?! :P
like in quantum physics there are only interpretations, pls keep it civil@@LeocaprioDinardo
Dr. Darling is another Alan Wake or look a like.
so does this imply darling and tom had a hand in effectively making alan wake and probably making him the most powerful being that we know of, and if so, to escape the dark place spiral?.
see you in 13 years, maybe getting an answer to that ^^
I missed this in the final draft episode and can’t go back to that room after we sing 😭
you find it in the oceanview hotel :)
@@ChampionsOfLight ohhhhhhh I thought there was one at an in the dressing room where the number 665 was flashing and that I missed it!!! Thankssssssssss
Interesting that Darling needs to escape from a place that he apparently entered willingly with Hedron...
Well hedron is a resonance interdimensional entity. It would probably have no clue what the dark place is but also it’s probably guiding him. But then again Hedron is already mysterious in of itself and seemingly benevolent unlike the Hiss which wants to spread like a disease. And remember how that went when Dr. Hartman was afflicted by both Hiss and Dark Presence
How'd he get into the dark place? The ocean view maybe
Can we get a wellness check on Darling please?
Is this particular scene connected to Control somehow? Where is Darling in this clip? Where are they trying to escape from?
asking all the right questions :P
@ChampionofLight2023
I didnt play Alan Wake so was wondering if maybe someone had some i sights i didnt. Eagerly waiting for Control 2.
@@aaron_aplin nope .. these are all question we all have :P assumptions can be made but nobody really knows ^^
Well this is curious, darling is not longer a human , his a entity and he suppose to help jesse
maybe Darling was Polaris all along :P
@@ChampionsOfLight Jesse refers to Polaris as 'she' tho
alien guardian angels are unisex in my book :P@@sunny_senpai but yeah its not a real theory from me .. just a low effort brain teaser that probably will lead nowhere :P
Have you found the 3rd one yet?
I can't help but feel like this is a bad development.
Given what we know about Zane by the end of Alan Wake 2? He seems more intent on abusing the Dark Place's power to warp reality than anything else.
