A round of applause for Lisa, who doesn’t NEED to put herself out there, teaching cooking/shopping life skills, or share her story… but does it anyway. Also… I’m a little sorry for giggling about the soda-splosion… been there 😱😝
When I freeze any fat I have, I use a cookie scoop and freeze them. I then put the fat balls into a freezer bag so I can pull out one or two when I need them.
I like that you show how to live practically within a budget, to use what you have on hand, and that you can eat delicious food without going broke. It’s very timely given current grocery prices. I also like that you’re teaching people without being preachy. Good vibes all around. Love the channel!
Check the temperature settings on your new hot water heater. When they replaced mine last year, the temperature was set too high. Love your videos. This 76 year old grandmothers is learning a lot from you. ❤
There are so many people trying to do what you do but it comes off as preachy or condescending, that they're using the money-saving genre to gain clout rather than just help others who need guidance on how to make their dollar stretch. It makes me really appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos. You are approachable, authentic and so warm in the way you help people by being transparent about how your family really lives & cooks/eats. I always enjoy your videos & think you're a darling. Keep up the amazing work! :)
Left an entire case of soda in my parents trunk before a snow storm. I was around 14-15 & thought hey it'll definitely stay cold. Too cold. As the temps dipped the soda froze, expanded & exploded all over the trunk. Yeah, my parents made me clean that sticky mess once some of the snow melted. Took me a couple of hours & lots of towels 😂. Live & learn.
Been watching your stuff for a while and gotta say I really respect how you take care of your family. Love supporting someone with such an authentic soul and a good heart. Also, the organizing looks like its going along very well!
Have been going through a lot of anxiety lately. And your videos are so calming and even though we don’t know you personally a lot of us feel like we do! Thank you for making the content you do!
So glad to see that you don't throw away things that are very slightly freezer burnt I have seen people you know toss the whole package the flavor like you did maybe can be covered up or you can trim it a little there's a whole lot to do before you toss the whole package. Thank you very much for showing that
Agreed. I use anything that is freezer burnt in a soup, stew, or sauce dish. When my kids were growing up, and I was a struggling single parent, I learned these frugal tricks and more!
suggestion for you . get some empty bottles from water or soda rinse them out and put tap water in them. freeze them in both your freezers so if you loose power your food dosent spoil. they work way better and last longer than regular ice packs. i use them in my lunch bag for work and they last all day and are still half frozen when i get home from work. ive been with out power for about 9 hours before and none of my food spoiled because i had the frozen water in the freezer.i also freeze my gallon milk jugs with tap water after i clean them out they work great in larger coolers or when i go buy my groceries and for going to the park or any where really. so many people have food spoil when power goes out having frozen water in the freezer helps alot. you can also use them to put in coolers with your fridge food so it dont spoil. love your videos dont stop making them.
oh hey if you've never tried it cooking cubed sweet potatoes with your rice is delicious. it's a traditional korean dish called gogumabap. i like adding peas as well because the colors are pretty :)
I love your videos! I don’t eat spicy food or many bean dishes, but I love how real you are with a normal looking stove and cookware and no fancy tools. Just really nice people and lots of skill. FYI, you can adjust the temp of your hot water on the heater. If there is no dial, there will be a screw to turn to make it hotter or cooler.
Dittos, too! It's great seeing a successful 'content creator' who lives in a house like mine! Not one in a kitchen filled with thousands of dollars worth of equipment, that looks like it cost MORE than my whole house! (Mis-matched cabinet hardware and all! My cabinets don't even match -- half are original, half hand-me-ups from my mom's kitchen remodel, totally different colors and style.) No pretensions, just a regular person!
You constantly AMAZE me Lisa. You are very organized and think ahead for future meals. So creative. I try to be like you, saving what i could to add to other meals, basically stretching. Like you I love my food VERY hot and spicy, everything! I think you grow some herbs? Thyme is easy to grow and overwinters here in NC good with white meats but i use it in almost everything. I have not had lamb in over 20 yrs and broke down few months ago and bought it at Aldi at $7.99lb. That will be a special meal for sure.I remember when i bought a whole leg of lamb for like 2.99 and 3.99lb YUM with mint jelly!
Quick Organisation tip keep a cup with paper, pen, pencils and markers and other labelling materials in your kitchen it helps keeping up with labelling everything.
My freezer is FULL it is the freezer on top of the fridge and has bags, containers etc - I save everything and since it is just me, I have leftovers so mine too would be called a hot mess. But I am ever so grateful I have it. Great video, Lisa.
You need to buy a vacuum sealer, that has been a life saver for us. Once we started making are own sausage, we decided to buy one. Everything has a longer freezer life with no freezer burn.
I keep a hand written list of the items in my deep freez next to it. I did a reorganization of it last summer. When I use something I mark it off the list. Then I know if I need or want to replace it. I just stuck a nail in the wall and stuck a piece of notebook paper to it. Nothing fancy.
Love this type of content. I use those same dollar store bins in my freezer. They do tend to get brittle and break after being frozen for awhile, so be careful pulling them out with too much confidence.
I love your videos I'm there are mean rude and just people who get kicks and giggles and they think it make them feel better to make fun of other people the way they look the way they talk the way they dress but eventually they'll realize that it doesn't help him at all but you are wonderful person and I love your videos and I love everything you stand for! You've helped me more than you know please keep it up and please don't stop the videos don't know what I would do without them! You're amazing!
Lisa, you are an amazing Re naisance woman of today ! Love love your videos, I learn so much. Also you are so down to earth, don't judge and aren't a pretender, you live what you teach, and are humble as well.Gotta laugh at the soda thing, cause it's funny, and alot of us had those explosions in our freezers..Your freezer looks fantastic, great job, well done.Keep those videos coming ❤❤
Girl I’m with you I keep my chicken skin and freeze it, once I have several pieces I coat and fry them. I’d rather eat the crispy fried skin than the chicken
Same! I also do this with my turkey skins. I just fry mine or put them in the oven until they crisp up, then season with salt and pepper. My son just tried some of that sour cream and chive popcorn seasoning on our last batch and it was really good. I will try your way, coating and frying next time. 🥰
I sure enjoy your vlogs. You could really use a food saver vacuum system. It doesn't cost too much and really saves you lots of money by preserving frozen food way longer than ziploc bags.
There is a setting on your hot water heater that determines the highest temperature that can come out of your tap. I would turn it down if you're afraid of burning yourselves. 😊
We butcher ans had loads of lard that we would put in food grade buckets and my grandaddy kept thrm in the cooler another thing we also did with fat is put it in a mason jar and don't put it were it can get hot and we use it for cooking all the time. You can also can pork lard too. Just thought I would share. And thank you for your videos..have a blessed day
Thank you for your video. It inspired me to clean out / rearrange my freezers. I found the storage baskets really helped to keep everything from sliding out. ❤️😽😊
I'm a recent watcher 🖥 and I just wanted to commend you on making such helpful, no nonsense videos. I'm enjoying your interesting, delicious recipe ideas. 😋
I love your channel. I've been cooking forever and never thought to make a sauce out of the sour cream and whipping cream. I've only done the flour. Great content. Thank you so much.
that upright freezer is a big one! i do try to label items going in mine. after a while, it gets to be challenge to i.d. things. i do really enjoy your style of cooking. low keyed and organized. thanks!
I’m the same way with meat, I forget to put labels on the packages. 😂 Seriously, though, thank you so much for your videos. They are so comforting and down to earth.
I am so glad to see someone else has a wonky freezers. In my large one I use dishpans and catalog them every couple of months. Saw you froze buttermilk will do that tomorrow new to me.
I'm jealous! I wish I could keep that much food in my freezers, but with a family of 7, 3 big teenage boys and a super tight budget, it's pretty impossible. I love your videos. ❤️
Beautiful meals. The freezer can be our best friend. I like to keep a variety of foods like you do and it pays off in lean times when I'm strapped for grocery money. Thanks for sharing Lisa!
Not sure how I had missed this video, but I’m very pleased that it popped up! My freezers are a mess and you’ve inspired me to get them whipped into shape!❤️
Hello Lisa 👋 I was so shocked but so happy and excited to see you posted already. I just love your channel and all of the cost effective ideas you have about everything. Thank you 🙏🏼. Hope you have a beautiful, blessed week!
You should think about using freezer paper along with your freeze bags. For me it is keeping freezer burn away and they can be flattened and put at least four pound of chicken and ground beef on one bag. Even when I am lazy after shopping I have still used the paper, just pull the plastic off and wrap tape label.
Lisa, be sure to turn down the temperature on that new hot water heater. If it's electric, you might be in for a nasty surprise when you get your next bill. Thanks for another awesome video!
It's a gas heater and it's at least a couple settings from the highest. It's been great for dishes and cleaning, I'm just so used to turning the faucet onto the hottest setting to wash my hands because the old heater didn't get the water as hot. I think I'm also more sensitive to hot water than the average person because my mom has no complaints about the water temp lol
The chicken and sweet potatoes dish looks amazing!!! I would probably add some Spinich or Brussels sprouts to it and a little more sauce😋😋😋 but that's just my taste😋😋😋 everything you cook is amazing!! Love you!!!!
Congrats on getting that task marked off your list! Everything you cook looks amazing to me. I've never cooked lamb, but have eaten it at restaurants. Your lamb stew looked delish and has me wanting to give it a try. Thanks for the inspiring video! 👍

My stupid husband will put a beer in the freezer sometimes this happens.

Personally, I find it comforting when you make beans in videos

Definitely been there with the frozen soda can. I like my pop really cold. I’ve had that happen more times than I care to admit…lol
Love a good freezer clean out! I need to do this too! Mystery meat! I try and label, but, sometimes I fail.
Ohh my gosh I totally bought that spray dish wash stuff also I was like hmmm 1.25$ okay I'll try it .
We invested in a vacuum sealer and it has definitely paid for itself.

Perfect long video, need to do a quick house pickup. Will move my iPad with me to each room!
I'm glad you enjoy the length. I kept stressing while editing over how long it was 😅 Getting it below 30 minutes was my win for the day lol.
It was interesting, didnt seem too long at all :)))
Yay! A new Lisa Dawn vid!

That russian blue is sooo CUTE! Seems very sweet
I am so glad to see someone else has a wonky freezers. In my large one I use dishpans and catalog them every couple of months. Saw you froze buttermilk will do that tomorrow new to me.
Freezing the buttermilk changes the texture, but we'll use if for fried chicken, so it shouldn't make much of a difference.
I love watching your videos. There’s just something comforting about them.
I'm jealous! I wish I could keep that much food in my freezers, but with a family of 7, 3 big teenage boys and a super tight budget, it's pretty impossible. I love your videos. ❤️
I don’t think I could afford to feed 3 teenage boys! Lol! My 11 yr old son and 9 year old daughter already eat 24/7!

Fabulous video! Thank you for creating it. I need to improve my labeling.
Looks wonderful! My stomach does not like jalapeños tho. But the rest. Yum.
I need to do that with my freezer.
Congrats on getting that task marked off your list! Everything you cook looks amazing to me. I've never cooked lamb, but have eaten it at restaurants. Your lamb stew looked delish and has me wanting to give it a try. Thanks for the inspiring video! 👍
Isn't she is so easygoing and logical to watch! And re: lamb.... I tried it once as ground meat from Grocery Outlet. It is so rich, very decadent and juicy! Highly recommend the ground packs. That's what is used for a true shepard's pie.
@@ms.j1160 Oooh, Shepherd's Pie! Thanks for the ground lamb recommendation, will definitely look for it!👍🙂
