Both accurate, Yamaha drab, dull on some tracks, but accurate as possible, lacking it seems low and high end, accurate tho. Edifier more expansive, sometimes to shrill, too bright, but accurate. Just voiced different. For recording, of course the Yamaha, for listening, prefer the Edifier mostly, not always, but need to watch that tweet on edifier. Looking at the graph, its plain the contrast is coming from the more difference between high peak and base, Yamahas have a little less than the edifier. Edifier sound more fun for sure, Yamaha's are for work, edifiers for party and listening pleasure.
The edifiers are not studio monitors...the yamahas are not hi fi home multipurpose speakers with lots of features. Yamahas are tools not designed to sound nice, designed to work in a studio..2 different worlds and aplication. Interesting to see how they compare. There is NOT a winner here. Its imposible to be one. What fruit wins? An orange or an apple? Always Interesting thanks for the video.
But the s3000pro has xlr inputs which means and a monitor settling which means they could be used for studio monitors plus it has treble and bass adjustment knobs in the back too.
I don't fully agree. The Edifiers frequency response graph is practically identical to that of the HS8. Edifier has a 'monitor' mode with a falt response curve. This video does not say in which mode the Edifiers were set when this test was conducted. If it was set to dynamic, treble would definitely have been emphasised. If the test was conducted in motor mode, then the Edifier is a clear winner for detail. And detail is what counts when mixing and mastering; to hear those things you would otherwise not hear.
@@John_van_Kleef So in your opinion there is no reason for me to replace my Edifiers for the Yamaha if I want to use them for mixing and mastering? I couldn't find a proper comment on this question anywhere.

I noticed in the video the mics are pointed directly at the tweeters of the s3000, where the yamaha you have them pointed lower.. Maybe why the s3000 sounds brighter
The Edifier mid-high is too much, harsh, there over where the Yamaha little bit less:-). Maybe the Yamaha closer for original. You use the mic's correction data for measuring? Of course for the difference only it could be works. I downloaded your video and loaded the audio into a DAW and compare the original track and the loudspeakers with a spectrum analizer. You could do it. Use the same part of the music and merge diagrams. Just an idea from me. And we can see the difference, of course at the measuring you measure, the whole chain. (audio intreface, mic, etc.) Big thumb.
@@DSAUDIOreview OK. You measure the frequence responce with UMIK-1 and record the music with the other SE 8 or Zoom H6. Is it right? I think will be good thing compare the recorded audio :-), because it shown how to reflect the loudspeaker , the dinamics, SPL changing, etc. Other thing you try the measures with different SPL level. EBU listening level 78dB and lower music listening level and we could see the linearity. And we find out which is the best volume for that speaker. By the way so i know when you add 3dB at 1Khz (EQ) the most of speaker don't increase 3dB exactly. The good studio monitors ATC, PCM, etc. follow the changing well. I write as a side note. No one got "winner", it's two different speaker built, for Yamaha sounds so flat, clear too, good for monitors and dialog, edifier great for music and movies
S3000pros tweeter is miles ahead but the woofer just can't compete with the 8 inch for detail. I know the s3000pro can boost the bass, but I doubt it would be as detailed. Looking at the frequency response less than 200 hz, sure the edifier gets low, but its not really sticking to the same distance away from HS8. I guess the DSP, port tuning, voice coil, and diaphragm light weight help s3000pro get close but i still think that isn't enough to enable a 6.5 inch driver to deliver the same bass as an 8 inch. Just like the 4 inch MTM, it gets amazingly low, but its just not the same. Sure, can go "Dynamic" mode and increase the bass boost knob. But I guess that would just be an un-detailed sound, boosted higher. I can't help but wonder what Edifier could do with an 8 or 10 inch driver. Eliminate the need for that deep subwoofer impact. Even better would be a 3 way with a 5 inch. Its been 1.5 years. Hopefully S4000pro isn't too far away. Nothing else can really compete with that tweeter....

The Yamaha HS5 looks similar to the Yamaha HS8, but that's where the similarities end. Yamaha HS8 is the best studio monitor for the money, Yamaha HS5 is the worst. Anything is better than the Yamaha HS5.
You cant compare studio monitors and loudspeakers. Lol at all the ppl saying "yamaha wins" or "edifier wins". Youre trying to compare between 2 different mindsets. Its like comparing women that wear makeup (loudspeakers) with women that dont (studio monitors). You can compare, but it's not fair. With all this said, can you connect a subwoofer to the HS8? And if so, how? Thanks
Yamaha is more balanced and accurate. Edi's sound good, the highs seem a bit bright though.Consequently harder on your Ears over time. Nearfield the Yamaha wins again.
The Edifiers are not bright at all, they have an EQ for the Highs and Lows... and have very pleasant and detailed highs that will put a smile on your face. The Yamahas do sound more neutral but not as enjoyable for music/movies.
Yamaha HS8 is the gold standard in mainstream music monitors, after listing side by side, it seems like Edifier is just another colourful sounding version of HS8 that belongs to your living room for watching movies and listing to music. HS8 will be too flat for that use. HATS OFF to Edifier...
Yamaha is true monitor edifier is not. That been said if connect Yamaha with a serious source you get best overall results but with edifier you get what you paid for.
I have a lot of new speakers and videos to edit, so going back and redoing the old ones is not something I plan to do any time soon. I hope you understand. Cheers!
I myself used the comparison vs Yamaha HS8 ruclips.net/video/YeLuVKtBvYY/видео.html , and i adjusted the sound using the 31band Graphic Equalizer add-on from Foobar2000.org website. My sound is now perfect to my hears no metallic sound and pleasing freqeuncies from lows to highs, more in sync with the HS8. Out the box the S3000 are not the best tuned speakers, but it can easily be remediated by using a 31 band Graphic Equalizer ! www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_dsp_xgeq Here is my preset settings in monitor mode tuned www.mediafire.com/file/qtgbh8xgzwjypjm/Edifier_S3000PRO_Monitor_Tuned.xgeq/file . If you want more bass you can always raise the 40hz and 50 hz but i would not try to raise like 31hz 25 hz or 20hz for safety concern ! Give it a try, make sure you use Monitor mode. You will see that using a 31 band graphic equalizer is the way to go, and anyone can adjust to their own preferences !!
Terrible mic setup, S3000 Pro have way more bass than the Yamaha HS8.... I own the S3000 Pro and they are amazing (don't even need a sub) and IMO they destroy the Yamahas since they have a weak low end. My dj buddy owns the HS8, heard them a bunch of times and was unimpressed mainly due to the weak bass. The Edifiers sound more musical and pleasant to listen to but if you are dj go with the Yamahas since they are very neutral and less colored.
The frequency response graph in this video clearly shows the HS8 go lower and louder. The Yamaha's have more than enough bass output anyone would need in most rooms. You cannot compare the performance of two different speakers heard in two different rooms, It's an apples vs oranges comparison. More than likely the bass performance you're hearing from your Edifiers is actually the effect of a room mode/standing waves, Not the true bass output of the S3000 Pro.
@@JesusChristSaves2024 first of all this video is complete garbage since it completely skews Edifier's actual sound. Let's just say that the Edifiers seem to have a sub attached to them and the Yamahas don't. Yes it is that obvious no matter where you place the speakers. Yes when it comes to pure bass it is apples vs oranges comparison.
I don't know which one is more accurate, but the bass definitely extends lower on HS8. I got HS8 in the hopes to get that visceral sound in movies and games where you feel the space around you vibrating when I ship flies by, without the need to buy a subwoofer. And it definitely shows in this test. Looking up S3000Pro it's not surprise that it has a woofer that is 1.5" smaller.

@@JoshyLats Still, it sounds bright. No way to set it even brighter. Also, if the "dynamic" mode works similarly to the one in the r2000DB, then it also mushes the stage a bit.
Would love to know if any of the settings such as Dynamic were in use/not in use on the Edifier.
great work. i think yamaha are bright and musical. i just wondering which devices do you use for yamaha hs8 to play musics?
my S3000 pro on dynamic sounds so great 🤩🤩🤩💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 on wich mode where your S3000?? Not on dynamic i think on monitor they sound to flat, that's only good for mixing, not for listen to music
Edifier bookshelf speakers can be used for music production?
Yamaha wins this one for me. They simply sounds more "musical". The top end is a bit warmer and less shrill. Bass response is amazingly close, despite the mid/bass driver size difference.
Hi guys, U got the best idea about HiFi testing on planet ! Speaking about sound is to subjective and pointless. If I may suggest something, please change presentation order: 1. Original track 2. First set. 3. Original track. 4. Second set. 5. First set. I think it would be the best way to hear the difference between original tracks and both sets. Keep up the good work and switch on the support channel option !
You appeared to have solved that dip between 100Hz and 200Hz with those planks. Now you need to do something with the spike at 60 Hz.
To my ears it sounded like the Edifier was a little more bright overall, but the Yamaha was closest to the source material
yes
Edifier s3000 is pure heaven!
Hi I need a set of a 2.0 speakers with built in Amp. I need the best one there is on the market, which one would You recommend? Leaving a thumbs up, subscribed
It is hard to say which one is the best. Try to look between 8" powered monitors on this channel and others
Both great speakers, Yamahas for studio, Edifier for music listening in the living room maybe?
AMAZING TEST THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹.Edifire 3000Pro is Amazing 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
please show me edifier s3000pro vs klipsch r-51pm. very interesting but i didn't finding ...
And here I thought the Yamaha's had obnoxious mids and highs but now all of a sudden a new contender has emerged.
Yamahas are fuller sounding. Edifiers have a less veiled midrange. Would love to see these vs. Klipsch The Sixes or RP600M's.
The Klipschs are overpriced shouties ... Junk.
@@rockfella27 I've heard very good things about them but I haven't heard them, personally.
@@ghawk78 Speaker business 80% marketing ... Americans are best at it. Give them a listen .. I couldn't bear a pair of Klipsch floor standers. I thought I'm weird my hearing is bad. Godamn shouties.
@@rockfella27 I own Magnepans so that is my reference for judging other loudspeakers. I heard a pair of Klipschhorns several years ago and I liked them very much. They were very different than my Maggies but still good.
У с3000 проблемы со средними и высокими
Высокие выпячены , а средник отодвинуты
Нижние очень похожи у обоих
Ямаха еще шире сцена
Не понимаю как ямаха с 8 динамиком играет лучше средину и при этом отлично низ
I'm curious what mode do you use on s3k? dynamic/monitor/etc? because the high quite sharper than it intended(which don't suits some of genres)
is it me or they sound almost similar?
Sorry but it is you..the great diff is audible with cellphone speaker
I agree
I dont know what are you guys talkin abt edifier being good? the hs8 has that low range and complete and sounds close to original with the original track even has more sub bass range...the edifier just cut out the low range so it feels clear and spacious ...tracks like mortals and deep proves this...you just cant feel the engulfing sub 40hz in the edifier....
Could u do a comparison between the new Edifier S2000MKIII and Edifier S3000Pro
It is on the way
@@DSAUDIOreview Awesome man!! Looking forward to it :)
And Edifier S2000MKIII to see how it evolved from S2000Pro? Cheers!
UMIK-1 comes with calibration file and I use it for measuring, if that is what you are asking for
@@DSAUDIOreview OK.
I know this is other coffee house.:-). I know it's more works for you. I just try to understand what we see and hear... the world.
@Joe Wolf thanks for the suggestions. You are correct, UMIK-1 for measurements and pair of SE8s connected with Zoom H6 for recording
Both sound great! Yamaha more full-bodied.
hi. Maybe you know, amplifier in new Yamaha HS8 D or A/B class?
A/B They haven't updated in a while
For my TV lg 65 GX (and for music) in a 5 Meter x 5 room which should i get: Dynaudio Emit 20 or edifier 3000?
Dynaudio!!!!!
Why do they lack so much on Mortals. Is it the mic?
I heard the hs8 are not 8in speakers which suprised me.i think some 1 said it was 7 and half inch.
@@waichungsham1578 i just measure mines and you are right and wrong! it is only 7 Inches, haha, but this precious monitor is the bang for the buck, like a 68 mustang.
How can you compare a Studio monitor to a home speaker? The monitor will sound like shit for any regular use outside of sound design etc.
Как раз Edifier мне не нравятся 😅 у Yamaha намного более правильный звук. Эти Edifier как то-то странно звучат. Не понимаю прикола, почему кому то они могут нравится в сравнении.

6.5" beat the 8" nice!
Great job Edifier.
6.5 не умеет воспроизводить низкие частоты
Put Edifier in Monitor Mode.
HS8 has great bass, but that metallic treble, not sure I could live with it. But on the second track it's obvious they both need a sub. Overall unimpressed with these monitors for the price.
Youre listening on youtube, recorded from a microphone. Do yourself a favor and listen live, in person. Talk after.
They have mopping the floor with subs kind of bass. Believe me.
Am i going to regret buying the s3000?
Nope! The best speakers for the price that will put a smile on your face! They can even be your end game speakers! They are that good imo.
sorry but if i close my eyes they sound about the same / listening on sony 1000xm3
Yamaha is more neutral and strong in low end
hi I have a question people...first these S3000Pro are on sale for 850 ( canadian ) 630 ( USD ) so a nice price....i currently have a Bose 600 soundbar and a 500 module connected via HDMI Arc....CAN I ALSO HOOK THESE SPEAKERS VIA OPTICAL AND USE ALL OF THE SPEAKERS FOR MY TV ?...I really hope so...cheers all
Nice comparison, keep going~~
Awesome new setup!
I am thinking a lot about these speakers for my living room for music and also movies and TV. I dont care about the bluetooth and so on, so regarding sound in a mid field environment, which one would be better?
Which one did you get? And if you got the Yamaha or any other speaker without optical input, how do u connect them to ur TV?
@@silklion7375 I got the Yamahas. But I returned them. Too bright...
Pliss review yamaha hs5 vs kurzweil ks50A 🙏🙏🙏🙏
The Yamaha HS5 looks similar to the Yamaha HS8, but that's where the similarities end.
Thanks
Guys, HS7 or Edifier? Music listening and games.
S3000pro vs t8v for production?
T8V
Beides sehr gute Nahfeldmonitoren, mir persönlich gefällt die Edifier aus China besser...
HS8 vs Mackie CR8-X would love to compare that
mackies lacks mids comparing an hs8
Yamaha HS8 is the gold standard in mainstream music monitors, after listing side by side, it seems like Edifier is just another colourful sounding version of HS8 that belongs to your living room for watching movies and listing to music. HS8 will be too flat for that use. HATS OFF to Edifier...
They are not gold standard. They are good entry level studio monitors but not gold standard.
@@silklion7375i see these hs8 more often than any other speaker in studios.
Yamaha has true winners with these monitors!!
They come so close to the HS8's but that harsh bump at 8Khz makes them annoying and hard to listen too...
Not to mention the distortion at 4-5Khz LOL
How come the response frequency only starts at 60 Hz?
try to guess
@@DSAUDIOreview Does it depend on the type of track used or the new microphone?
It depends solely on the position of the speakers in the room. Room has the biggest impact on low frequency response of the speakers
@@DSAUDIOreview So you changed your position compared to a few months ago? I remember that S3000PRO reached 40 Hz
yes, it is different position
I would want to hear some real rock blasted through them for a comparison instead of generic pop.
Yamaha is true monitor edifier is not. That been said if connect Yamaha with a serious source you get best overall results but with edifier you get what you paid for.
Seriously, you are doing comparison between an active speaker and studio monitor.
Edifiers barely. Is that their digital processing or their speakers?
Can you redo some vs with the presonus e8 xt with these microphone?, it would be fantastic, keep it up btw❤🙌
I have a lot of new speakers and videos to edit, so going back and redoing the old ones is not something I plan to do any time soon. I hope you understand. Cheers!
@@DSAUDIOreview yes of course, thanks for the respond
Can you use a subwoofer with sb3000pro?
I like that BELISSIMO song. I didn't know it.
Listening with my AKG earphone with Dolby Atmos...yamaha are better but with slightly margin..
Edifier sounds cleaner
yamaha is a studio monitor and the other is hi-fi speaker. of course the yamaha has a flatter response
Yamaha FTW ! But good surprise for Edifier 😶
Hifi listeners will prefer S3000 but they are way colored, will not recommend for "studio" use.
Yamaha HS8 sounds closest to the the track. I think my ears would get tired by the slight harshness and hornlike treble of the Edifier
I myself used the comparison vs Yamaha HS8 ruclips.net/video/YeLuVKtBvYY/видео.html , and i adjusted
the sound using the 31band Graphic Equalizer add-on from Foobar2000.org website. My sound is now perfect to my
hears no metallic sound and pleasing freqeuncies from lows to highs, more in sync with the HS8. Out the
box the S3000 are not the best tuned speakers, but it can easily be remediated by using a 31 band Graphic Equalizer ! www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_dsp_xgeq
Here is my preset settings in monitor mode tuned www.mediafire.com/file/qtgbh8xgzwjypjm/Edifier_S3000PRO_Monitor_Tuned.xgeq/file .
@@salami124 The whole point of a monitor is to have a flat frequency response. Otherwise I wouldn't really call it a monitor
@@jwester7009 sure, i agree.
These some what sound same...
Yes when it comes to pure bass it is apples vs oranges comparison.
good job ! yamaha hs8 !!!
For that effect add a 12 inch subwoofer such as an SVS PB2000.
Edifier 👍
