    I can’t believe this just came to my attention...back like 3 years ago I saw all white ek hatch with red recaros in the Duluth near johns creek while I was cruising in my ef hatch and never saw it again on the road...I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and I just realized it was you because of the Gwinnett license plate ...very cool stuff Flare! Love the build.

      HONDAPOWAA - Thank you so much! It’s definitely me. I don’t daily the car at all for two reasons: built mostly for track and too many people try to steal it.

    • @goodnightracing
      @goodnightracing 5 лет назад +1

      Michael Flare Totally understand that. People in the Gwinnett area keep stealing cars. It’s ridiculous. I stay in the Alpharetta area so I see all the posts. I also have a ek hatch. Mine is gps tracked so it won’t get far if it ever gets taken. Keep the ek safe man! Maybe one day I’ll see you on the road again!

    Gosh, you’re making me miss my EK bro! But I can tell it’s a B18c , same motor that was in my integra 😭 your build makes me want to get another Honda again 😅

    Geometry correcting parts aren’t a fluke, but there’s lots of variables. Flipping the balljoint in the case on the tierod is a huuuuge change and should most likely only be done when the car is lowered a LOT. Yours doesn’t seem to be all that slammed, so they were ‘overcorrecting’ basically ;)

    Youre not wrong about the tie rods, I had a similar experience with spherical tie rods except mine were the ktuned ones, i rebuilt the entire front suspension on my integra and while I was there we went ahead and added buddyclub extended balljoints and ktuned tie rods and honestly I did not like it at all, the bumpsteer was terrible and any time I’d go on the highway I literally feared I would lose control of the car, anytime we would hit a bump the car would almost swing into the next lane, but with that said in the corners at lower speeds the tie rods were great , the car turn in response was great and was very responsive but at high speeds the bumpsteer was simply terrible. Would not recommend them to anyone who actually enjoys driving their car , i took them off after about 5k miles and went to oem style

    • @alfredoamarales1
      @alfredoamarales1 5 лет назад +2

      Also wanted to add that aligning the car was a nightmare also, I also tried everything before I took them off, they weren’t cheap and I wanted to use them but It was too much of a hassle and was definitely flawed

      alfredoamarales1 - The performance shop is Gran Turismo East. One of the best shops in the region that work with racecars all the time. I thought he was ignorant when he said they were bad but seeing you guys having the same problem shows how correct the technician was. I removed the HardRace tie rods after 300 miles.

    • @alfredoamarales1
      @alfredoamarales1 5 лет назад +2

      Michael Flare yes I was definitely very suprised myself, I’m a technician at Honda and understand suspension geometry very well so in theory they should work, but they don’t lol

    • @MichaelFlare
      @MichaelFlare  5 лет назад +4

      alfredoamarales1 You know how OEM style has the weird “C” bend on the tie rods? I think that design minimizes the bump steer when suspension is at different travel. That design has absolutely no clearance reason behind it, it must be a different reason, and I think this is why.

    So in essence, extended ball joints and inverted tie rods that are meant to correct suspension geometry on these civics is just marketing hype?
    Just wondering because my em1 suspension is complete (all new bushings, camber arms, gc/koni, extended top hats, and alignment. Handles amazing but was wondering if geometry correction would be the next logical step.

    • @MichaelFlare
      @MichaelFlare  4 года назад +3

      I know 1000% the inverted tie rods is a gimmick After posting this video, people have been messaging me and telling me they though they were the only ones and I'm happy that it's confirmed not just me. My mechanic who works for Gran Turismo East (prestigious race performance shop) told me that it's complete gimmick but I didn't believe him at first. He constantly loads and unloads my suspension while testing it and says it's insanely terrible bump steer. I cam back the next week with OEM style tie rods that he told me to put on and it fixed it completely. These are HARD FACTS AND EVIDENCE/PROOF. So far I haven't seen anyone back up inverted tie rods yet and if they do, it's either it's placebo, they don't actually race, or they really haven't tested it. They're probably don't want to admit it too because they're ashamed for paying so much for a nice looking piece that does so much harm. The extended lower ball joint, I think is real. I have no proof or evidence but I've seen posts of people backing it up with real tests. I can't confirm though. I'm completely honest with you guys.

    Your car starts up quick. How come mine takes a second or so crank to start

    • @MichaelFlare
      @MichaelFlare  5 лет назад +1

      I actually don't know why it started up so fast on this video clip. This was actually the second clip I filmed. Right before this, I had already started the car, and it cranks normally like most car's like you said. I think the fuel was already primed into the motor from the first crank so cranking it the second time in this video was fast.

    As far as how planted and tight the car drives now, how much of that is the cage vs the underbody suspension?
    i ask because, back in the day I had a eg hatch with a cage. no other suspension mods. and that felt somewhat tight.

    • @MichaelFlare
      @MichaelFlare  2 года назад

      I think the underbody suspension mods is more responsible for how tight my car is by a lot. My cage is mostly for safety purposes during a rollover.

      colby davenport - if it works, I don’t see why not. I think they say that because it’s not comfortable and efficient (wears out other parts faster) but that’s obviously expected. You can drive it daily if you want.
