Great voice casting, costumes, sets, models, effects, and a story compatible with the style of the original series. Sulu was one of my favourite characters of all of the series. That VOICE! Thankyou for an exciting and most enjoyable hour's entertainment.
Allana is so beautiful and I loved how she captured the pure innocence and joy of finally seeing the "magical" world of the Enterprise that her father had told her about. To her it must have been like intering a fairy land (considering how she grew up based on Sulu's clothes + swords, etc). And yes I like the actor playing Kirk. He defiently had the mannerisms. Its the little stuff he did + said. This was so much fun to watch even though it was very sad. I had half expected some rare miracle at the very end where Sulu was captain and awaiting his guest. My guess was half correct.
my mind try to imagine now the world of "Enemy Mine" where both actors there crashed on this Planet. Just with the ruins he mentioned. if someone want to redo this episode. "Enemy Mine" Sci-fi movie 1985 from Wolfgang Petersen could fit this world where they lived here on
I'm a TOS guy, and a STC fan. The STNV was not bad but it wasn't a comfortable fit. But this episode, has always been an epic promise to what never was.
Yes...kind of like the epic promise of Sulu's daughter being beamed onboard fully once the Enterprise broke free from the gravitational field holding her in stasis. His daughter could have been there, but in the end, she never materialized. Symbolizing the parallel between her fate and this could - have - been series.
@@MrSciFi I've seen this episode about a dozen times since it was made and always see something new. This isn't the first time I've watched that episode of The New Voyages. Every time, it has the same impact. It's probably the most thought provoking and emotionally charged episode of Star Trek that I can think of.

Sulu commanding the Excelsior would've been a hit. Also I was disappointed they didn't give Kelsey Grammar a spin off from The Next Generation's "Cause and Effect" episode. He would've made a great singing star ship captain.
Excellent stuff! As a young child (1970s), my favourite characters were Sulu and Chekov. These days I lean more towards McCoy and Spock, but there will always be a special place for Sulu and Chekov.
Immense grtatitude to George Takei and the cast for simultaneously bringing cherished past memories of classic Star Trek...and yet, making the experience of being there, on the deck of the Enterprise, anew!
How extraordinary to see an EXTENSION of TOS with actors from the series and movies! THANKYOU. Long live the Gene Rodenberry Star Trek that was created long ago. I stop here to not offend.
.Having 3 of the performers from the original cast involved in this production with an extemely well-written script makes this the BEST fan made Star Trek Video I've seen ! The acting is this episode is top notch and very emotionally moving. Thanks for sharing this excellent production !!
Interesting that the shuttlecraft sound effects were the same as the Jupiter 2. This was a very touching episode, with as much emotion as the ending of ST2: Wrath of Khan.
Excellent work. Riveting episode, good writing and acting. Consistent with canon. The actress playing Allanna stood out with a stellar performance. What happened to her character was poignant, reminding me of how I felt at the end of The Wrath of Khan.
This was AMAZING! i was born in 1976 10 years after TOS had first aired and i was hooked as a young boy after my father introduced me to one of his old favorite shows, some years after he showed me TOS i caught him watching the new TNG show which was only a few months running at the time. The ending to this was magical especially when you heard the voice of demora sulu the same very actress that played her initially. THANK YOU FOR THIS!! I only wished we got the sulu series or series based around the enterprise B and the enterprise C.
Now that was impressive. This will be canon to me. Unlike anything created in the past decade. Takei's acting is excellent. The writing is tops in this. 10/10
Yes, George's acting is impressive, his range and command of character are what we should have seen in the original series, but Shantner poisoned the well...for all the other actors with his over-beating ego. What shame.
This is a great story, well performed that would have made a great episode of TOS. But all the roles except Sulu are recast which just makes it wrong somehow. Like a perfectly engraved three dollar bill. And it should be obvious why it wasn't picked up as a pilot for a new series. The purpose of a pilot episode is to introduce a proposed new TV series to a TV network and the viewing public. We see the major characters and learn a little about them. Here we see virtually nothing of the "Captian Sulu" series. How can a network decide on a new series when the entire pilot is a flashback from an old series?
An excellent episode. In TOS just about every main character had a love found love lost story. This is one of the best. Must be equal to Kirks City on the edge of forever.
It veered dangerously close to corn ball on the way in, but then suddenly kicked into a new gear and really turned into good Star Trek grade sci-fi as the solutions closed off and the tension went up. At some point I really got into the characters. Great job!
George Takei and Grace Lee Whitney played these characters to perfection on this. Despite the rank differences, Sulu and Rand had served together so many years they were almost family themselves.
Back during TNG and those last original series movies. We wanted a Star Trek: Excelsior series. But as usual, Paramount never listened to it's series fans.😑 I'm glad this was made by fans. George and the original crew deserved better than they got.🖖 You done what we wished for and better. The ending was great George, thanks!🖖
The quality of this episode is outstanding ! The actors succeeded in recreating the mannerisms of the original cast. I loved the dilemma, the sorrow, the predicament. It really was a plot in the true spirit of the original series. It reminded me of moments of several episodes. A real pleasure to watch this. Well done everybody who contributed to this. Thank you so much! More please 🤩
This was fun! The acting is a little choppy, but I love a good story and those things work themselves out over time. The first TNG's were a little shaky too, but those were incredible!
THIS is the "Star Trek" we SHOULD have gotten. Takei plays Sulu absolutely MAGNIFICENTLY. But, then, what would you expect? The girl who plays his daughter Ariel, easily matches him in performance. You feel for her the whole show, and she has a BEAUTIFUL personality. As her eventual outcome unfolds, you WANT to jump in and save her, and you can't hold back tears when she is lost. For someone evidently so young, she gave us an absolutely virtuoso acting performance. I'm STILL shedding tears as I write this.

Cheers to George Teki, and the other actors who breathed life into these characters !
Sulu commanding the Excelsior would've been a hit. Also I was disappointed they didn't give Kelsey Grammar a spin off from The Next Generation's "Cause and Effect" episode. He would've made a great singing star ship captain.
They made a novel that continued his adventures
@@michaellatta7699 Did it come with sheet music?
A sulu series would have been a massive hit!
Due to Cause and Effect, that episode would be rerun constantly.
George Takei's best performance as Sulu.
The most historically significant fan-film ever made.
Thank You
Back in the day, Star Trek was the only quality sci-fi game in town and now, it is again. Thanks :-)
It was cancelled by its third season it wasn’t good
@@Christian_Ada1 if it wasn't good it would not have been resurrected. The TOS production was sabotaged by Paramount.
@@Christian_Ada1ok. Now in Shatner voice: " you... must..have something better..... to.. do.."
@@Christian_Ada1if you don't like this or Star Trek TOS, maybe this video isn't for you.
I have to say, the writing is spot-on. It really does feel like TOS season 4.
.Having 3 of the performers from the original cast involved in this production with an extemely well-written script makes this the BEST fan made Star Trek Video I've seen !
Some truly remarkable voice acting matching the original actors, and stellar story. I was hooked pretty quickly.
So good, no, so marvelous it leaves me groping for words to express my experience and feelings from the last hour. Thank You so very much ❤️
Excellent work. Riveting episode, good writing and acting. Consistent with canon. The actress playing Allanna stood out with a stellar performance. What happened to her character was poignant, reminding me of how I felt at the end of The Wrath of Khan.
Wow! That was far better than I expected! Very well done!
@@pauls.9041 I've watched a few of these Star Trek Continues episodes and they are so good i forget its not Shatner or Nimoy or Kelly.
An excellent episode.
In TOS just about every main character had a love found love lost story.
This is one of the best. Must be equal to Kirks City on the edge of forever.
Wow, just Wow! That was really great. I'm so glad this got made. Well done to all of you!
I had heard of this. Nice to finally see it. As an old Trekkie it's nice to see Sulu get his props.
A friend of mine told me about this episode years ago but I never saw it. Thanks for putting it up.
Well done! The acress playing Sulu's first daughter was amazing! So good to see George Takei in that role.
First it was Star Trek as star trek gets and I'm not crying, you're crying. Sulu needs a series, stat.
Have you seen Star Trek Continues !?
50 years too late
@@mikcnmvedmsfonoteka Star Trek Continues is excellent. I must get back to that series!
This is definitely one of the best, most emotional episodes of Star Trek ever made. Wow!
This episode was amazing. Great job to everyone who created it!!!
OH MY DAYS!! WOTTA FLIPPING FANTASTIC SHOW!! A SERIOUS OPPORTUNITY MISSED HERE. JUNIOR FROM LONDON 🤩🤩🇬🇧🇬🇧🇯🇲🇯🇲
Now that's how it's done! Great Sci-fi :)
A great production, exceptional work and a real.pleasure to see George Takei in Star Trek Conyinus.
Ohh my! I am a sobbing mess right now but I loved this! Thank you for sharing it. 🥹👍👏👏👏
I was very impressed with the actress playing Zulu daughter.
I remember watching this when it first came out almost 20 years ago. The entire "New Voyages" (later renamed "Phase II") fan series was very good.
This is wonderful! Thank you for bringing it to us.
I had all but forgotten how incredible the original series was. Great job and wonderful script!
I did not expect this! It was great all around. Well done and thank you for showing this.
From the moment she started reciting the end of the Shakespeare play to the final scene, this was 100% the old Star Trek magic. Goosebumps at the end.
This was awesome , and makes me wish for a Sulu series set aboard Excelsior!
Back during TNG and those last original series movies. We wanted a Star Trek: Excelsior series. But as usual, Paramount never listened to it's series fans.😑
I'm glad this was made by fans. George and the original crew deserved better than they got.🖖
You done what we wished for and better. The ending was great George, thanks!🖖
It took me a little while to get into... but by the end my tears were falling... you did great.
Why can't they write episodes like this these days... That was truly awesome
I remember seeing this episode for the first time years ago. Watching brought tears to my eyes each time.
This was FANTASTIC, i got emotional during this, well done and please more, LOVED THE SHOW 🙂
The quality of this episode is outstanding !
This was fantastic. Such a great story in true Start Trek fashion. Well done to the cast and crew. And so good to see George Takei in action again.
🖖😎👍Very cool and very nicely spectaculary fabulously well done and executed in every detail way shape and format provided indeed!👌.
This was fun! The acting is a little choppy, but I love a good story and those things work themselves out over time. The first TNG's were a little shaky too, but those were incredible!
I watch this over and over, it’s a great episode, Star Trek at its greatest
Good job on the Scotty look a l lik e, he even sounds like him.
I for sure would have watched this! Looks totally fun.
One of the best OG star trek episodes I've ever seen ❤❤❤
Once upon a time, being the IP holder gave absolute power over a franchise. That day is done. If the IP holder insists on not bringing out new content or bringing out garbage content, we can now make our own. I invite all my fellow Trekkers to enjoy another unauthorized novel completely free. Just google Star Trek Lost Destiny Race.
Thank you Mr. SCIFI! More emotional watching this than the past 40 years of Star Trek derivatives.
One of the very best Star Trek fan movies I've seen. A fine story, well-acted, very well-produced, high quality graphics and audio---and the ladies involved are achingly lovely. !!!! I wish I had more thumbs to put up!!
It's not a movie. It's a series pilot called Star Trek Phase II.
I saw this on Star Trek: New Voyages. Loved it. Usually I like Star Trek Continues better but this was a great episode.
OMG. I actually watched Star Trek again. Thank you so much!!

I know right!?
1 million percent in agreement. Seeing Mr Sulu play himself but older was ... remarkable.
Live permanently in the past if you want but embracing new ideas and adventures is what Star Trek is all about.
@@ransom182 Hello Mr Troll. Here to spark an angry response are we?
Wow. Nothing more that I can think of to say.
That ending was just beautifully done.
