    Perhaps we wouldn't have to pay so much in taxes if our government ran with some honesty and integrity. Ask anyone who works for the city, state, or federal government and they'll smile as they tell you how lazy and wasteful things are in every department.💸💸💸💸

    As a former resident of Ocean shores I can tell you that that building that you covered in this story was almost complete when they decided to add on the office space. Down on the south end the city built a garage and parked a couple of older fire trucks in it and called it a fire station just to lower the city's insurance rates, however its not a manned fire station. I think you need to investigate the airport as well the corruption of that city and having to deal with Inslee as a state leader was a big factor in why I moved out of state last year aft 50+ years

    • @WeTheGoverned

    I purchased a home in Ocean Shores recently and have been researching the community and government. There's all sorts of questionable shenanigans going on. E.g. despite the South end eroding, the City of Ocean Shores has been selling sand! The peninsula is literally eroding away, and the City Council is selling off the very thing the city needs to literally survive.

  • @brianknapp6215
    @brianknapp6215 3 года назад +2

    It's very sad- I spent a good deal of time in Ocean Shores growing up (my uncle used to own a lot down by the Jetty- long before even the first condos were built), my wife and I had our honeymoon at the Shilo Inn, and I had my last combined family vacation there (myself, my wife & daughter, my parents and my older brother) before I moved my family out-of-state.
    That so many instances of mismanagement, fraud, or corruption could happen in one small coastal city- speaks volumes about how broken our systems of governance have become.

    I'm shocked the golf course has stayed open. I have never heard of anyone going out there to golf.
    People go to walk on the beach, fly kites, eat fish and chips and ice cream and go to little boutiques.
    Sounds like horrible corruption.
    When I worked in a local small town I saw a lot of corruption happening but people didn't even go to the city council meetings because no one felt they could have any impact on the corruption so they just didn't bother. Its a much bigger town than ocean shores.

Every person who owns land inside city limits is forced to pay the community club, a private organization, ~$145 a year for each piece of land owned. • @WeTheGoverned

      That is not entirely uncommon. For example, in Renton, I remember that the water park/pool the city built had two rates - one for residents and one for non-residents. The theory being that the resident's tax dollars built it, and they should have a reduced rate accordingly. We were just there. It’s not the shark store per say, it’s the older lady who owns the store next door and orders goods for sharky’s. We were in and out of sharky’s on Saturday buying towels and whatnot and never wore a mask until I went to the store next door (the one adjacent to the bathrooms) and asked the lady a question (I was not masked). She then kicked me out of the store, and followed me to Sharky’s and insisted I wear one.

      I think your missing the point having these pos’s in these positions is stealing the funds to help our state on bs lawsuits why should our taxes go for this mayor’s lawsuit to fire a person she hired 3 yrs earlier, then the Unions help this mayor get re-elected , sounds like a major scam with Our Money 💔

    People need to pay attention to what is going on in their communities. This is why I have no sympathy for the Ocean Shores residents. They were "asleep at the wheel" so they got the government they deserve.

      Sometimes people just want to drive their car, not work on the engine. Make no mistake though, there are many of us who are working to try to fix things in O.S. But we're up against things like the current mayor forbidding city employees to speak to a particular council member, jumping up in the middle of a resident's public comment and yanking the mic cable out, a handful of council members announcing that "public comment" at council meetings should be abolished, and one particular council member admitting in a public document that he voted to greenlight a rather expensive project "along political lines" and not because it was a good idea. And then there are some state and county agencies who could step in but for some reason always choose to turn their back when queried. There is no oversight here -- the mayor has worked hard to establish herself as her own "oversight" and she's running the totalitarian playbook.

      Most of the time, it appears that people just are not aware. I will also point out, the current mayor has no mandate anyway (3 vote margin in an election is very tight, so I suspect people who live there realize there are problems).
