I was 9 when i watched this game. I remember going to summer school field trip and a classmate of mine telling me the all star game would be on TV that night. When I got home I remember being so excited watching this game. I also got to see my favorite player Don Mattingly in his last season as an all star player since he blew out his back next season. I still remember his pinch hit double like if it was yesterday. Bringing back old childhood memories.

I was 6 when I saw this. As soon as I saw "Bo Jackson says hello," I wanted to be Vin Scully. My parents taped innings 4-9 and I watched it probably 200 times. Made me a baseball fan for life. Thank you for posting.

Mike Schmidt, one of the most iconic and legendary players in the game of baseball! What a hitter! You gotta laugh when even the Home of the American League All-Star team crowd still boos whenever a Yankees player is announced. Although Don Mattingly had some cheers. His insane hitting was probably the reason for that.

All Star games back then were special. Back then you mostly only saw your local team on TV except for Saturday Game of the Week. ESPN may have had Wednesday night baseball by then, but that was about it. Since I lived in Dallas, I rarely got to see National League stars plays. So I couldn’t wait for the All Star Game. Times are much different now.

John Ramsey should have been the PA announcer for this game. A southern California legend. We used to say he had the voice of Zeus. It it was so booming and powerful. The Angels switched PA announcers from games to game (Ramsey announced USC football and other sports). When Ramsey announced, I will never forget when he said before every game (I paraphrase): "Anyone entering the field of play will me prosecuted to the maximum extent of the law!" It was like, "Yes sir, whatever you say!"

Fun Fact: In 1989, All-Star Game starter Harold Baines would be traded from the Chicago White Sox to the Texas Rangers for a rookie outfielder named Sammy Sosa. It would become one of the most unpopular trades in Rangers' franchise history.

This was my second watched All Star game. As a Cardinals fan I wish my Cardinals would've overtaken the Scrubs for the division, beat the Giants again unlike the Scrubs, and would've beat the Atheletics in the '89 WS. Ozzie getting that hit off Stewart to lead off the game was a replica of the Cardinals '89 season. Ozzie lead the game right, would've been at least one extra run if NOT for the mistaken attempted steal of second base. Would've been at least 3-0 maybe more. Bo's great catch would've only been the second out. The game with Cardinals players was played this game similar to their actual season. Not to mention from @37:47 all the way to @1:03:58 was the BEST president we had up in the box with Vin Scully.
