Thank You SO MUCH for this Comparison! I don’t like wasting experience ingredients and Time with experimenting. BRILLIANT WORK! Much appreciated. Great editing too.
This is my recipe after testing many, and coming up with my own. I love it soooooo much!! Dry 2 3/4 cups Flour 1 tsp Baking Soda 1 Tsp Cream of Tartar 1&1/4 Tsp Cinnamon 1/2 tsp Nutmeg 3/4 tsp Salt Wet Two Sticks Butter (room Temperature) Not Melted. 1 Cup white Sugar Whip these two together for 3 minutes: Hand mixer Then add: Two tsp Vanilla & Two eggs Mix again only until incorporated. Place in fridge while you make the cinnamon and sugar coating. ( 1/3 Sugar 1 1/2 tsp Cinnamon ) Bake at 350 for 13 minutes
Thanks for the video! I always dip the cookies in water before rolling in cinnamon sugar mix. Gives them a crunchy outside and yields a nice chew for the inside. Get a separate bowl of water for dipping. It's messier. But worth it ;)
I just made the Bon Appetit cookies for my two grandsons to celebrate their basketball achievements. They are absolutely delicious! I did not have vanilla paste, so I substituted my homemade vanilla extract. They were perfectly baked in 8 minutes--crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
After trying many other recipes, I like the joyofbaking snickerdoodle recipe the best. Dough is perfect to work without refrigerating or waiting to put into the oven. Perfect texture inside and out. Weigh each ball at 40 gms. My absolute favorite but will try each of the recipes from this youtube presentation to see if I like one of them better. Excellent youtube presentation. Thank you
Food Network isn't what it once was, they had some amazing recipes when they began but it slowly went downhill. There are things I learned from back then that I still use but now its almost like a personality competition as opposed to actual cooks & chefs. A pet peeve I have had for years is healthy dessert alternatives. Dessert is not considered a main course so either make it the way it was intended or just forgo it all together. Lastly if you love cinnamon, try Vietnamese cinnamon it really kicks up the flavor for snickerdoodles!
@@josieelling8294 I agree if you’re on a diet then dessert shouldn’t be on your mind and to me dessert is a treat anyways. You are absolutely right about food network, it is just full of competition and honestly stupid shows. I just watch things like this on RUclips or Gordon Ramsey if I wanna see some cooking. I never been a fan of cooking game shows. I’ll have to try that out next time
I'll have to give the melted butter in snickerdoodles a try next time, to get that denser chewier texture. The food network one is cakey because of the air whipped into the butter in the first step, which is what I did last time I made this cookie, and in my opinion, even more work than just using melted butter!
Next time I make the bon appetit version I'm just going to come to this video you're so much better at explaining the steps than the actual recipe page
I'll watch 1hr ad if that means great RUclipsrs like you are going to finally get what they deserve. Recently discovered your channel and I'm seriously addicted. Keep up with good work and you'll shine soon💕💕
This was the best comparison video!! You have a natural talent for it. Thanks so much it helped me make the BEST cookies. I decided to go with the Bon Appetit recipe!😊❤️
Is that the Rick Martinez bon appetit recipe? It sounds like the one. I tried loads of snickerdoodle recipes trying to find perfection. I found Rick's recipe about five years ago and ended my search. It's a fantastic recipe.
Hi Rachel! Awesome video! Been wanting to see a comparison for a while without having to do it myself! I wanted to mention that I’ve made the Bon Appetit recipe a few times and for some reason, I get a lot more height when I use a darker cookie sheet and roll the dough into almost cylinder shapes. Just thought you might like to try it too!
This was the BOMB 😁! I was just asked to make these cookies from a Internet recipe 🙄. So I HAD to check out like REAL Baker 🤔. And I hit the JackPot 😝. With Rachel's breakdown, I can now start Baking 🤗.
Thank you so much for this! I love how you get straight to the point and give really good input. I just started baking recently and I wanna try making snickerdoodle cookies, one specifically that I tried at this coffee ship. It was pretty big, a bit crunch on the sides but soft in the middle. Any recipes people can recommend? Also it was a lot darker, it may have been snickerdoodle - ginger bread recipe but I didn’t taste much of the ginger which is nice.
Thank you! This really helped me decide when recipe to use for my cookie exchange box this year. I love that bon appetite uses melted butter so I don’t have to wait for butter to soften. I might chill some of the dough to see if that helps with the spreading. I also don’t like cakey cookies at all and actually get mad when they turn out that way. Such a waste of ingredients. Thanks for the awesome comparisons.
From my understanding cream of tartar is mainly used as a rising agent which I guess here would make the cookie puff up more, it will also give it more of a cracked look
You should have used the old Betty Crocker recipe. Shortening, no butter. All cream of tartar. Crisp cookie. Not a sugar cookie rolled in sugar-cinnamon, like you buy at the store!
Very informative. I’m going with the Tasty just because they seem easier. I don’t want to deal with the messy dough. Thanks for laying these all out! Super helpful. Trisha Yearwood sucks.
IMO the food network cookie 🍪 would have made a really nice cake style sugar cookie just leave out the cinnamon and add some vanilla extract.😋 It was a very beautiful cake cookie , just not a classic snicker doodle .
It seems like you left the bon appetit dough in room temp for 30 minutes and that’s why it was so sticky to work with? I bet if you did that with the tasty dough, they would have baked pretty much the same color.
I like the idea of comparing these recipes; however, it as very difficult to follow anything what with rapid recipe to recipe to recipe. Almost impossible to follow!
i followed EVERY single part of the bon appetit recipe and they turned out flat and crispy 😐 the only thing i could think of that went wrong was my baking soda isn’t good anymore. i haven’t had it for long but you’re supposed to replace it every 30 days, i dunno. very disappointed. i’m going to attempt to find another recipe in place of that one because i do not want another fail. there were also things missing in the bon appetit recipe? like it lists cream of tarter in the ingredients but never says to add it.. which i thought was weird.
@@ananicmert8366 yes , so did I ,if do one by one I've forgotten what went on in the beginning by the time it's at the end....lol , it was so must easer to compare and if you need to go back to something missed you don't have to go all the way back to the start.🤩
Thumbs down and stopped video short because you don’t put the ingredient amounts IN THE VIDEO At least not up until 2 minutes when I got fed up and left

Great idea, thanks.
Wow, what a neat trick! I need to give that a try next time.
That’s great advice. First time I’ve heard of that

LOVE these recipe comparisons!!!!
Thank you I'm glad you enjoy em!
Seems people on food network can’t really cook, how do you not use vanilla or brown sugar 🤦🏽♂️.
Michael Mcmillon it was quiet interesting to see just how much a difference leaving them out made!
Melba Peach I made them also and they were really good, i can’t imagine not using vanilla in any dessert lol or brown sugar in cookies 🤦🏽♂️
Melba Peach and I couldn’t find vanilla paste so I just used extract instead. But I bet the paste would’ve made it 10x better

Aw thank you Lizzy, that's so sweet of you!!
Americas test kitchen has the best that I’ve tried. My Granny used to say that if it has vanilla extract, it ain’t a Snickerdoodle. 😋
I gotta try that next!
The recipe comparison was very helpful, great video!
I am so happy you made this review!! Really needed it thank youuu
So glad I saw this before making the food network cookie!!!
Thank you so much definitely using one of these for thanksgiving
The Tasty recipe for the win. By far the best cookie. Thanks for your comparison video.
My favorite cookie! I’ve never tried vanilla bean paste but now I have to. BA doesn’t miss!
Thank you for your helpful info. I will be trying the Bon a petite

Wow this was an awesome comparison! Can’t wait to try the Bon Appetit recipe tonight!
Thanks for trying all 3 for us!
Great job!!! To the point.
I hope you make a video about different sugar cookie recipes! Maybe comparing chewy vs. soft vs. crunchy sugar cookie recipes?
Hi Abby, that's a great idea! Thanks so much for the suggestion :)
Outstanding!
Thank You. I’m in 🤙🤙
If I freeze my dough , then put it in the fridge do you still hydrate it
nope you're good in that case!

Thanks Isa!!
Is the cream of tarter necessary?
such a beautifully made video :) PLEASE KEEP MAKING BAKING VIDEOS
aw thanks girl
Love these cookies
Loved watching your video! 😄 I liked the tasty one best! 🙄🤗
If I only have vanilla extract, how much of it should I use in place of bean paste?
a 1-1 ratio will work!
I know that everyone cooks differently. But I have always baked my snickers doodles with the little snickers in the middle.
OH .... What a great idea.... Love this idea.
great video 😊 thanks
Thank you!!! 😊

What would be the difference if I used salted butter?

Thanks for sharing!

I knew the last one would be the winner just off looks...
Would love to see comparisons with Allrecipes! ❤️
what size disher did you use for this?
Sallys baking addiction’s recipe is far superior
Really, did you try all of the recipes , like she did ?
I’m going to try this one
Great comparisons i Also prefer a dense chewy cookie and i am also looking for good “crackage “ on the top : )
thanks for this review. I’ll make your top choice cookie. (new follower)
That was a fun episode! I loved how you showed each step of each recipe... haha, "Sorry, Tricia..." cute show! Imma go to your page!
Thank you!!
Thank You 💚
Great comparison!
Hey Rachel regarding the Bon Appetit does 1/2 cup plus mean 1/2 cup of sugar? And is 1.25?flour- does this mean 1 & 1/4 cup?
Do I need to use cream of tartar?
From my understanding cream of tartar is mainly used as a rising agent which I guess here would make the cookie puff up more, it will also give it more of a cracked look
@@ValE-zb8qc thank you
Hi 👋 if you get time how about doing a final test between Bon Appetite & Preppy Kitchen snickerdoodles? Love your channel!
Hi Diane, I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks
Great commentary!
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it.
"Nice Crackage" 🤣😂🥰👍🏾
The best recipe for snickerdoodles is from Preppy Kitchen 😋
Bon Appetit is always best.
YES!
Laura Vitale has the best snickerdoodle cookie recipe.
I've got to try that out!

ew, who wants fluffy cakey snickerdoodles?? it misses the whole point??? it's not the shortening tho, usually that makes cookies MORE chewy
IMO the food network cookie 🍪 would have made a really nice cake style sugar cookie just leave out the cinnamon and add some vanilla extract.😋 It was a very beautiful cake cookie , just not a classic snicker doodle .
but which one tasted like the real snickerdoodle?

what should i do if i dont have cream of tartar??
A small amount of some kind of acid, like lemon juice can be substituted.
She thinks the Bon Appetit has the best taste.
What do you mean let it hydrate fir 30 minutes
It just means to let the dough sit so the ingredients can become further combined
tasty has you sifting the dry ingredients first
