In the short period of 1985-87, some of the rock albums ever made were released: Def Lep's Hysteria, Guns N Roses' Appetite for Destruction, Slayer's Reign In Blood, Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet and Bryan Adams' Reckless.
I don't know what to say really, for some reason I really like Taylors music, and she seems like a very nice girl. She doesn't have the best voice though, but who needs one if you get to play with Def Leppard anyway? Def Leppard are such cool guys, and they've always seemed so nice and normal, wich is pretty uncommon for rockers.
Joe is class! I like when he sings with Taylor Swift to her music. It's surprisingly tasteful. You go Joe! Always just an amazing artist. Taylor you are also a decent artist, impressive.
I love how their voices compliment each other. Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott has a high voice for a male vocalist and Taylor Swift has a low and sultry voice, they blend very well together.
Im certain Shania Twain could do the same thing with Def Leppard subsequent her split from Def Leppard s producer Mutt Lang, Shania s ex hubby since their styles are similar
Def Leppard is the best Rock Band ever. Joe Elliot's voice is so amazing. The first song I heard was 'Let's get Rocked', when I watched the music video on VH1. In 2005, I immediately fell in love with the band. Unfortunately I have never seen their concert. 😢
they are both amazing! Def is obv. waaay more experienced and perfected, but its sometimes cool to mix things up with old rock and new music. It doesnt mean that theyre gonna form a band together. it was just a collab.
Seems like Taylor Swift loves Pyromania the most out of their albums, she talks about it more, said something about how it's a great album to listen all the way through on a roadtrip and stuff.
you guys are timeless, taylor is a great fan and star. joe your voice is ok. I heard some rumours you were not singing anymore. you guys are liked by this generations youth. that means timeless. rock on bro mike
@@Brad_Johnson_Today yeah. Cats in Def Leopard have this DVD in their office just waiting for their Grand Children to ask them if they've ever heard of "Taylor Swift" so they can make them RIP, Die Dead.
@eaglewillfly Agreed. This is coming from a guy born in 1975; and I have nothing but pity for those that can't comprehend the goodness of this music/band.
Yup, Hysteria is the best album ever of you guys! It's also one of the best albums of al times; hard to beat that. I love that album. Great band, and Joe, you guys are the best hard rock band of all times, thanks for all you have done!
Regardless, I am still a huge fan of Def Leppard and the Rock N' Roll genre. I was born a Rock fan, raised a Rock fan, and will fo sho die a Rock fan! And since Country Music is no longer country music but Rock N' Roll, then perhaps I can now start listening to country music. No offense to the pure country fans. It's just me...I am a die-hard rock fan!!
@retro57 she didnt "ruin" the songs... its just one version FOR FUN! you make it sound like she trashed their recordings and they'll never sell another record.. guys.. why leave negative comments? if you dont like the vid, get off the page.
I don't have a problem with this; the Leps were always a commercial band and singing with Taylor Swift can only raise their profile some, which at this stage in their (long) post MTV career they can use. However, I wasn't impressed with Taylor's singing. I've heard a lot about her but really, this could have been just about any person singing. I saw no chops on her duet on Photograph.
Def Leppards best album was High N Dry, followed by On Through The Night and then Pyromania. Hysteria was pop rocks, I loved it, but not as much as their first three.
On through the night a cult album, High 'n dry too edgy even for a metal band(at the exception of Bringing the heartbreak and Switch 625), Pyromania the perfect one for a road trip and Hysteria THE Blockbuster, the album that put the Jovis and the Roses to the MTV map, so praise Def Leppard! On the other hand Adrenalize is lacking of inspiration but Slang is the perfect answer for those who still thing of Lep as a shallow band(what?) with an american sound(excuse me?)...
@bdiemert2 I'll believe that when she's willing to speak her mind on issues that her fans may not like but she truly believes in. When she's willing to lay the career on the line... then I'll believe it.
i think def leppard should do exactly what joe just said, they should try to make an album thats better than hysteria. ;) i think thats impossible.. but i'd like to see what would come out of it =O lol
@1badsteed My fav Leppard´s album has always been Pyromania followed by On Through the Night. But nowadays I prefer to listen to Hysteria and some other later hits. But maybe Photograph is my fav Leppard songs of all times! Regards
@TrochezCovers One needn't even leave THIS thread. Your implication that Def Leppard needed saving after Steve's death is highly insulting to A) Vivian Campbell, who took his place; B) all the members who contributed to songwriting and performing since Steve's passing. (If anything, the drums were what needed saving after Rick Allen lost his left arm. The fills lost their flash and the drum samples were monotonous.)
Timemark 0:15....four guys up front playing guitars...name them? I got Viv Campbell and Phil Collin. The two on either end/right and left....who are they?! Anyone?!
Anyone who thinks Def Leppard is going country I think is absolutely wrong. It's the other way around. Joe Elliot is exactly right by pointing out that today's modern country is no different than the 80's rock. It is, as he says, influenced by the 80's and 90's rock. If you're thinking pure country, then think Garth Brooks, Randy Travis, Clint Black & the likes. Even they too mimic the 80's rock. I remember listening to a country song talking about country music being murdered by rock n' roll.
I know Joe Elliot had major fantasies going on in his head during their time together. He was hoping and wishing and Taylor was thinking.............what it would be like too. I loved Def Leppard back in the 80's. Reminds me of some good youthful times.
@Fab2Ucb, LOL. Excellent question. It's sick and sad if someone did. If it happened, you probably know which band member it was. I am not going to be the one to name names.
Did anyone else feel that Joe Elliot sounded a bit like Ricky Gervais character David brent from The Office in parts of this interview? 1.06-1.31and 2.54-3.08
The song "Photograph" just sounds so wimpy with her singing it. If it's going to be a woman covering it, it needs to be someone with a voice like Pat Benatar in the song "All Fired Up."
She wasn't even 17 when this was recorded and much as I like her, her vocals at that time were her weakest attribute, she didn't have a confident voice. Completely different now. Besides she doesn't need your opinion or mine for that matter.
No @TheWho58, Justin Bebier is a 15 year-old baby who sounds like a chick. And I've never heard of that other person. And I really hope that the best band on Earth won't sink to that level. But im glad that Taylor Swift was joined in. She is really hot and very tallented.
@06hrhillbilly OK, I stand corrected. Didn't she release a song called 15 like last year? I think it was about being 15. Maybe she wrote it when she was 15. Eh, I don't even care.
@marcoshary that would be you should have said no by Taylor swift sped up about three times. They would be the perfect couple if it wasn't for age difference.

I love CMT Crossroads it's so unique and so nice to hear Def Leppard sing Taylor Swift songs! They make such good covers!!!
Def Lep .......survives not just with talent but with intelligence and class.
Joe is class! I like when he sings with Taylor Swift to her music. It's surprisingly tasteful. You go Joe! Always just an amazing artist. Taylor you are also a decent artist, impressive.

taylor swift is awsome. im not even a big country fan.something about that gril
She’s extremely talented
Great duo together. Love Def Leppard!

Always sweet Taylor.. Def Leppard ..Rules as always.. Awesome loved it!!
I like joe I think he has a realistic perspective on things much respect
they are both amazing! Def is obv. waaay more experienced and perfected, but its sometimes cool to mix things up with old rock and new music. It doesnt mean that theyre gonna form a band together. it was just a collab.
Hysteria is one of the Top albums of all time!
I just saw them in LA & they sounded great and you can tell they like each other and love their fans.
I love def leopard but this was fantastic and if you every do a joint album I would be buying it
Seems like Taylor Swift loves Pyromania the most out of their albums, she talks about it more, said something about how it's a great album to listen all the way through on a roadtrip and stuff.

Joe Elliott. Pure legend!!
Taylor Swift in boots!! Wow!! And she's a far superior muso than our kylie.. Taylor is clearly a winner with me...
totally agree with eaglewillfly! Hysteria is the greatest rock album of all time. Long live Def Leppard!
Taylor's so lucky. I'd kill to sing with Def Leppard
Other way around now
@@Brad_Johnson_Today yeah. Cats in Def Leopard have this DVD in their office just waiting for their Grand Children to ask them if they've ever heard of "Taylor Swift" so they can make them RIP, Die Dead.

You wouldn't think it would be great buy it was amazing!

Idk??? PYROMANIA KICKS ASS TOO NOW..!!! Lolol
Taylor has such a perfect voice for metal!
nah man Doro Pesch has the best female voice for Metal imo
Thanks for the interview, but… uh… where is the performance?!

hysteria is the best for sure, i went through 3 tape copy's and 2 cds of hysteria because i played them so much
Love this! I think she sings better in Photograph
I like the crossover stuff it's nice to hear the mix. Do we think Def Leppard and Fleetwood Mac might ever do the same?
I would love to hear a album that tops Hysteria!!
I AM GENTLEMAN PEACE of HEART def leppard
@retro57 she didnt "ruin" the songs... its just one version FOR FUN! you make it sound like she trashed their recordings and they'll never sell another record..

def leppard made me fucking love this song!

wow she was so damn skinny back in the day
I'm very glad she has gained some weight and curves
She is a woman now.
Awesome... I'll stick to the phrase: No matter what we do, people is going to compare with Hysteria... :)
And this footage of photograph is nowhere to be found.thanks to CMT.
Joe Elliot u are the best lead vocal i ever heard i love u man im not homosexual but i love u so cool man ur voice is incredible.

dude. what the heck are you talking about, joe?! you ARE the biggest rock band in the world!!! at least for me..
Back when Taylor Swift was country singer.
Only Steve could save Def leppard.... Fuck. how i miss him.....
@RockNRollahGuy101 funny that you mention it, lady gaga actually has admitted to being a fan of metallica
@bdiemert2 I'll believe that when she's willing to speak her mind on issues that her fans may not like but she truly believes in. When she's willing to lay the career on the line... then I'll believe it.
seriously? grow up
Very difficult is the understatement to end understatements, where do you go from perfect?
i think def leppard should do exactly what joe just said, they should try to make an album thats better than hysteria. ;) i think thats impossible.. but i'd like to see what would come out of it =O lol

just throwing it out there, Taylor Swift hasnt been endorsed by Disney for a few years. just sayin
@LennaIsMyAngel she hit ledgend a billion copies ago.lol
@cliffthelightning Learn your facts shes not Disney!
How ironic is it that Def Leppard make Taylor's music sound good but Taylor ruined Def Leppard's songs. That's what selling out does to you, Taylor.
Stupid bitch.
Maz me?
You guys are idiots
i think DL is way to good to be matched up with taylor swift.
my last name is Elliott (ha) totally random so yeah! :P
he did all her s0ngs real g00d and she suck at his. the 0nly awes0me with this was him and def leppard l0l

@RockNRollahGuy101 Lol! An unlikely musical duo! :))
One of the greatest bands of all time playing with one of the worst artist of all time. Sad really.
Swift sucks but DL will always rock in my world
