Please note: We like to make interesting car mods and show you how we've gone about it, but we can't promise that anything we show you will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you're doing, do not fool around with very serious machinery just because you've seen us make it look so easy.
I am a Dad. It was a good one. Never change Al. Never change....
Exactly never ever change lol
I don't know why people complain about dad jokes. What are we supposed to do, drop f-bombs and make sex jokes around our kids?
When your stressed out ,feeling frustrated, WWTYD(What Would Turbo Yoda Do). The guy is always so chill. Seriously wish i had his zen. Or is that editing magic....
Al for PM. Turbo Stimulus for Budget '20, '21.
A lot easier to be chill when it’s not your budget.
Stressful to work on + also hitting my wallet = no chill.
@@mattsnyder4754 Not really man, having the responsibility of spending others money wisely is very stressful.
Definitely 10 out of 10 for Zen. 10% perspiration, 110% inspiration to us all. It must hurt being that good. Al is cool as husky’s p@$$.

BFE 08 WRXSTI “nutserts” is just not correct. Woody needs some educating.
How about a gusset?
@@damienwalker1026 YES!! Gussets!
Damien Walker nutserts are correct, grow up.
Al’s explanations of everything in such a simple manner are a real highlight of the show
D for maximum respect 😂 haven't seen that shit in years
BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM
D for Drag, R for backwards, N for Nitrous.
'R' is for race. No doubt you've heard the tales weaved based on that joke.
Where was that from?? Cannot find anything online about it

I will never forget, back in the day I was given a 1976 Buick Skylark base model sedan with an Olds 260 4.3L V8 with a TH200 Hydramatic and a Rochester 2 bbl, and that car was an absolute turd. It had 34k original miles. I would put oil on the passenger side rear tire and do brake stands with it...lmfao Those same old ladies gave my uncle a 1970 Dodge Dart Custom with a 225 slant six, a 3 speed auto, and it had 16k original miles on it...and a black vinyl top. I pulled that Olds 260 and put a SBC 400 with a Weiand dual tunnel ram intake two Holley Dominator 800s on it with velocity stacks and a Muncie M-22 Rock Crusher. I also replaced the highway gears with a 3.83 rear end. That car was really fast, even though it weighed close to 5000 lbs. I wish I had chosen the Dart...I'm a Dodge guy at heart.
Best channel ever. I wait for every episode. Always happy to see what's next
Maximum respect is also obtainable by sticking it in neutral then flooring it then smashing it into D.
Thong Slapper. What an apt description for a late 308 exhaust noise.
Actual exhaust fabricator here, That makes my eyes bleed. Bash the floor to make it fit?
The face AL pulls when he gives it a bit at the end so good
17:03 Al the new Predator. Watch out for Arnie coming in off the plains 😀
Loved that, such a good look for Turbo Yoda :D
That rear muffler running around that rear diff it looks like its touching the body which is going to make vibration and also get the body very hot , possibly some sort of alloy heat shield needs to be put there
Congrats on your hard work paying off great job y'all do awesome work. I miss doing builds in my dad and uncle shop love your channel keep up the awesome work mate's
ive seen a few of these with adapted commodore ute column shifters to suit the th700
Props for not editing out the tap. Sounds like problem in one of the lifter to valve path components.
Yeah all fixed now, sounds mint.
Great work! Thank you guys!!
12:26 Checking drive linkages....
Reminds of classic farm scene from 1st TMNT movie with Donatello and Casey Jones.
Another great episode boys, Thanks.
You need to have a power window on the passenger rear. You can turn the radio off and catch the note when you are off for a cruise!
"Clearanced the floor" Love how you make it sound so elegant. Me - "I smashed the fu*K out of the floor to make the zaust fit." 😂
Zaust, like that. 10/10
Cool dreads like an predator. Loved drag week footage. Hello from Missouri.
ok i think this channel is now my favorite.
You guys are legends! Love every episode.
Good to hear Al make sure everyone knows never rev a new motor as well as never start a new motor without coolant ... and then do it anyway 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Good on ya Woody for getting Al to say that opening line......
Hey Alan and woody would you guy be interested in doing a power Cruze car one day I’m kind of curious what car you would use and drivetrain setups ? I live in Vancouver bc and we don’t have anything like that and I would love to see it .
Cant wait to put a 5.0 304 back into my VP. ( opera house edition ) and make videos on it
G'day from West Australia, guy's and good stuff, first large hurdle crossed😉🙂👍👍
Maybe check with the custom hotrod truck scene in America. They have column shifter that will work well.
I believe LMC truck in the US has such kits.
Keep up the hard work. Awesome show guys!
17:00 - 17:10 that moment when Turbo Yoda turns into Dave Lister from Red Dwarf!
If you don't have stainless laying around PVC pipe works well as mockup driveshaft
Shout out to mike nolan. Always with us, shining down like an angel from above...
Nolsey's still with us, it's Big Lez thats shining down, hopefully alongside Robert G Barret! ;)
Bang on re the exhaust, 3" single is the way to go on a 304/308
Love the eastern Koel calling in the yard. Noisy bloody things they are, but not as noisy as the Lion.....
Great job guys 🙌 I LOVE THE CAR💪much love from Detroit 👍 Great editing Woody THANX
Well Done Guys.
Pro-Cameraman skills achieved. Woody, you're full time editor now.
2.5 inch in to single 3 inch sounds good, I like the combined sound. I find that 1.6-1.7mm(.065 - .070 inch) exhaust tubing gives better quality of sound(thicker wall).
Been loving this series
D for maximum respect stickers!!!
Iron lion sounds good cant wait till its running right and rolling
Nice job Al as always 👍
Hey have you thought about using a vr/vs Commodore Ute column shift assortment ?
Awesome job gents you both deserve a lemon squash 👌
you can adjust that needle on the auto quadrant ,its driven by a cord and if you look under the honey pot you will see a phillps screw ,just loosen that and move the clip left or right.
Thanks for the info man, always learning.
I thought this was a great vid. Nice job Al! And nice job Woody putting it altogether.
17:03 Why hello there Mr Lister, sir I see the race reconfiguration process has been a great success!
Bwwwaahhhaaa, well done mate, was just about to say words to that effect, but you beat me too it!
Awesome as always
well done gents great build love your work
rock on roll guys, really good work !
Yeah nah nah yeah nah -Mike Nolan 😂😂😂
Always cash in hand!
pokes, smokes, blokes and some free cokes.
Yeah yeah yeah nar
Going out this long weekend an throw the tinny in for fish.
Hmmmmmmmmmm
It's just not the same with out big lez .
Yeah nah nah yeah nah nah
Good stuff as always! I'm curious to know why you switched from Milwaukee to ToolPro for your powertools?
Since they changed all the tools, I'm guessing because he got hooked up with some free stuff...
Same here
Toolpro has been side by side compared with Milwaukee tools. You're over paying for average tools if you buy Milwaukee. Toolpro are the same or better for a fraction of the cost.
They're an affiliate of MCM, who are sponsored by Super Cheap Auto... Toolpro is their house brand ;-)
the ratchet is identical to the Milwaukee and is 3x cheaper. The toolpro version actually has an extra screw in the body.
26:08 Woody making Al do things for the Gram! 🤣🤣
The *Iron Lion* has awoken from its slumber.
Al, you bowed to the Lion I’m in shock
Great episode! Can't wait for the dyno video!!
Thanks for the new ep lads 👌
Do you use stainless for the exhaust? Did you use normal steel or stainless welding wire?
Nice pacemaker fellas.
Great series, guys. One question: is older Australian stuff like the Kingswood built with imperial or metric fasteners? I know you use millimetres, kilometres and that now, but did you change from inches, miles, etc.?
These 70's cars have most fasteners in imperial AF. The first of this series of Kingswoods was the HQ and was released in 1971, Australia officially changed all measurements to metric in July 1974, I was in Primary (elementry) school at the time so can remember the change. Due to being in production imperial fasteners continued to be used on this generation of Kingswoods that ran from the HQ in 1971 to the final WB 1984, the instrumentation (speedometer/odometer) however was changed to metric for cars manufactured from 1974. After 1974 non carryover components on model updates sometimes were metric, Ford were the same in this period.
13:00 how did u mount the cable to the gear box or is it floating back there and the only mounts is on the fire wall trying to do the same on my kinga
Uses metric Verniers, "I make it about 2 Inches".... love it!
@ChrisHallett83 Yes, that is correct. I was more amused at the use of the Verniers for guesstimating the size. It's cool to see Al winging it and taking us through his thought process
Sorry Al I'm knackered, I'll have to watch tomorrow. Night all
I remember the valiants with the push button autos 'D' for DRAG lol
27:04 AL's face when it makes noise 👌
IT's ALIVE
Is that Kirk's lemon squash ?And if so
Woody or
Al did yall find something near it here in the states
Approximately 9:00 .... Who else knows how far one or two inches are? I do, and so does Al!!! .... Unless you live i the US or another imperial country......
Inches and Feet still hold value, it's a measurement that is easy to imagine... Although I still measure everything in milliimetres ? ... Mad World
nice work guys......
How do you guys rate the toolpro 12v impact ratchet?
Been looking at getting on for a while now and the toolpro defiantly are the cheapest around.
I have a 63 holden eh that was factory Column shift auto but was converted to 5 speed celiac gear box in the 90s and I’m not converting it back because it’s to much work plus finding the parts will be hard and it’s a mod they did back in the day . It’s going to be all factory except the 5 Speed Manual . I’m sure AL loves the old school Holdens . especially that Holdens are no longer selling commodores anymore there going SUV and 4wd utes only
you mentioned it's a bit "tappy" mine has just started making that sound. how important is it to fix that?
If its an LS, its already too late
Looks like christmas is cancelled this year kids, dad needs a new LS
Whats with the filter oil on the plugs?
lube so they dont corrode to the heads... makes for a c*nt getting them out when they need changing
Steel thread plugs into alloy head...they are nice to pull out if you lube them on install.
Sitting with a laptop and sweeting love the sunny coast
Is all the smoke in Sydney from those burnouts you guys have been doing?
SF is in QLD bloke.
@@creativegta smoke travels bloke
Spark plug mullet ftw!
What brand torque wrench do you guys use? Not sure if the ToolPro ones are up to the job? Cheers
Dyno tune at the Nugget Garage?
Good stuff!
Good stuff
Is it feasible to get a 4spd column from the US? Love the bench, but man it’s gunna burn after a surf on a sunny day! Kenworth fabric on mine and I am in Tassie!
Yep nice one fellas
Just got home from getting sacked...
At least I have a fridge full of beer and new Skid Factory
Chin up bro & cheers new day tomorrow

How about the Koel going off in the background of the vid at the start, calling out for a mate to bonk, gotta love the east coast in early summer.
loved the BoM pressie woodie check the ls swapped toyota estate
Nice work guys :)
I always thought it was D for Drag, S for speed then R for race;)
What did he spray on the spark plugs before installing them? And what's the purpose?
Air filter oil. Just to lube them up a bit so they go in smoothly.
Thumbs up for the opening dad joke 👍 need more dad jokes 😁
is there anyway of getting a list of parts used in this build??? cheers
I love the old "Three on the Tree"
MikMech it’s a must with a bench seat
@@gdawwg1125 Not correct! I had a HQ 308 van when they were new with 4 speed and bench seat. First car in the Deakership with a KM speedo.
@@garybailey8877 sorry i mean the column shifter in general . i mean its cool with a bench seat
@@gdawwg1125 That's cool. They didn't do floor shift autos with bench seat. My van was factory 308 m21 4speed lsd. Optioned gts dash cluster, Armrests, Heavy duty battery. Couldn't option gts steering wheel!!!! It came with 735/14 BF Goodrich cross ply tyres??? Drove it from the Dealership in Caboulture Queensland to Margate, about 20 ks. Jacked it up in the back yard and fitted a set of Globe bathurst mags and radial tyres and went cruising. Great car
That "Tool Pro" ratchet seems to be doin ok....
MikMech I’ve been watching very closely also.......
The real question is does the Milwaukee 12v fit cause they look identical??
Al is the go fasta Rasta.
Love a good long weekend! hahaha
Man! Spark plug lead dreads were hectic
No slip joint or stainless mesh coupler into the Y pipe?
Not necessary, a lot of factory y pipes don't have them. There is enough length to allow for expansion to prevent anything from cracking.
