Hello, just did my dual yesterday, all went well. Just an update, I no longer own a Philippine passport for the last 25 years and IT WAS PERFECTLY FINE, no need to download and fill out a form or anything. The lady asked if I still own one and I said no and she just said no worries. Thanks.
Hello, Tifanee. I definitely received value from this video. However, because you consistently jumped between languages, I think I missed quite a bit. I am assisting my wife, who is an elderly Pilipina, to apply for her dual citizenship. The two questions that I have are: 1) Does the primary application need to be signed and notarized before the appointment? and 2) We will apply for the passport at time of our dual citizenship appointment...will they mail the passport to us or will we be required to return to personally pick up the passport? Thank you. Gil
Hello Gil, Thank you for your feedback. My initial target audience are former Filipino viewers who are trying to do the dual citizenship application and I realize over the years there are viewers like you who are non-Filipino speakers who assist family members. It is very admirable you are helping your wife figure this out. Let me try to help you as much as I can ☺️ 1. For the duly accomplished form, you don’t need to have it notarized before hand as your wife will be signing it infront of a consular officer as her witness. Once the officer checks all original documents he/ she will point to the signature section of the application and ask that your wife sign it. 2. As far as the passport application, I didn’t do this at the time of my dual citizenship application but a fee of my friends did. The requirements are different and I think you need to bring a self-addressed pre-paid envelope with tracking number with the consulate as the sender and your wife as the recipient. I recommend that you check the the website of the Philippine consulate that has the jurisdiction over your current home state in that way you can check their sample envelope and also requirements. I hope this helps Gil and good luck with the application ☺️
Hello Mrs. Tifanee, Just recently 2 days ago became a US Citizen, looking for the best informative blog about how to became a Dual Citizen?. Lucky!! Found your blog, now my question is if you are traveling to Philippines or any part of the world, do I need to bring my US Passport or the Philippine Passport? If you are a dual citizen is there specific one passport only for that? hope you can help me about this matter. Thank you and God Bless Kabayan!!! 🙌
First of all, congratulations Kabayan sa US citizenship mo 😍. If you are traveling to the Philippines you can use your US passport and just present your certificate of dual citizenship ung nareceive mo nung nag oath taking ka sa Philippine consulate. The consular officer said it’s not necessary to get two passports depende sa choice mo. Since we travel full-time Kabayan, if for example we will explore Southeast Asia or go to countries who don’t require visas for Filipino citizens, I would consider getting my Filipino passport. Pero if sa Philippines ka pupunta your certificate of dual citizenship will be enough to present. I just don’t want to travel with so many important documents kaya for now isa lang muna passport ko :)
Thanks for watching po. No need to have your application form notarized po. You just need to fill out the application form tapos submit po. Normally sa forms nila they tell you to sign or sign with the officer present. I dont remember na pero para sigurado po you can leave it blank and just ask the officer once you submit if you should sign it already? I think I signed mine already nung pag submit ko. Pero para sgurado just put a Post It po to flag it tapos ask nyo but for this application form no notarization needed.
Thank you for watching my video po! If your name is different from naturalization certificate and you birth certificate po then you will need the affidavit for dual citizenship. You can find it under “additional documents” or in my casee po I found it under FAQs included in their answer regarding name change and the link was there to print the affidavit. I appreciate you for watching :) good luck sa application po!
Very Informative itong vlog na eto, i recommended it to my friends and families. anyways, i got my appointment., Ate, may tanong lang po ako. do i need to get a Philiipines Passport kung uuwi sa Pilipinas.
Grabe sobrang thank you for watching and for recommending my video. I really appreciate it! Nope, di mo kelangan ng Philippine passport pag uwi mo. U can use your US passport and just bring your certificate of dual citizenship pag pasok mo. Pero, if may time ka pa? At pupunta ka na sa appointment mo? i would recommend isama mo na din yung pag apply ng Philippine passport mo para maging under ka talaga sa category 1 na “Filipino Citizen” sa list of people traveling to Pinas. Ung mga nakasabay ko pati ung isang kilala ko, wala silang appointment for passport pero nakiusap sila mag apply na din dun habang nag aantay ng same say oath taking for dual citizenship. Pag may time ka pa, set ka appointment for passport. Yan yung isang regret ko sana nag apply nadin ako passport nung nandun ako. Also sabi nung nakausap ko, it will make it easier pag nag travel ka around Asia sa neighboring countries natin para di ka hingian ng visa to enter kasi baka di nila tanggapin ung certificate lang. Good luck sa appointment mo and again dont stress kung di ka makaapply passport that day but if my time ka, I would recommend it para din di mo dala dala ung certificate mo palagi pag nag travel ka.
@@Tifanee08 ate, thanks for your reply, i have back to back appointment, i was able to have on the same day, un passport. but the rest of the barangay... wala. :C yes ate i mean barangay kasi... upon recomendation ko sa kanila... they were able to apply at the same time... mga 16 kami doon.. lol. sa friday na un appointement namin. maytanong uit ako, upon completing the online form, may replied na acknowledgement of appointment from the embassy, at may form na we have to print and fill up. on that form, to be specific... page 2.,bottom paragraph (certification section) may notary signature slot at consul signature slot. Do we need to "notarized it separately" or bring the form along with supporting evindence and nothing more. Thank you ulit ate... from me and the rest of barangay bantog san juan pangasinan.
Hello thank you for watching. Since I don’t know how old you are, you can also look into ROB ( report of birth) As per the consulate website if at the time of your birth, one of your parents or both of them were still Filipino citizens, then you are a dual citizen by birth. You just need to do a report of birth or if you are younger you can have your parents do it for you. Please email the consulate as well to so they can guide you properly as I am not very familiar with this 🙏. I hope you get your dual citizenship 💓
NYC Philippine consulate gave us a surprise quiz, this was Fall 2021. They told us it was something they're trying out. No way you'd be able to answer those questions if you did not grow up/go to school in the Philippines. Anyway, don't study, it's more exciting that way.
Thanks for sharing your personal experience and also for watching this video! And you are right, if we grew up in the Philippines or went to school there malaki chance papasa tayo haha buti nalang they did not give me a surprise quiz 😁
@@JL-qj4pi 😂😂😂 kala ko chill ka lang eh may pa “don’t study, it’s more exciting that way” ka pang tip nag panic ka hahaha! At least dual ka na ngayon! Congratulations 😁
Hello! Mode of acquisition of foreign citizenship like naturalization, adoption, mga ganun. So for example in my case I became a US citizen and I acquired it through naturalization. Some by birth, adoption at kung ano pa heheh di ko kabisado lahat. :) salamat pala sa pag subscribe :) good luck sa application mo!
My Wife is Philippine born but currently only a US citizen. She would like to become a Dual Citizen in the Philippines. I am an American. Our marriage took place when we were both Americans in America. My question is: In regards to marriage documentation in the Dual Citizenship requirements, is the US Marriage certificate sufficient? And no PSA issued document is needed?
Hello Eric, this is a good question. My husband (American) and I (still Filipino) at the time of our wedding in the US. So I had to submit a report of marriage at the Philippine consulate. But because your wife was already an American upon your marriage I am assuming that your US marriage certificate should suffice since there was no need for her to report your marriage. :) Just to be sure you guys can email the Philippine Consulate General if SF, they are very responsive to questions via email in my experience. :)
Hi Tiffany, thank you for the information…but one question for you. What if I don’t have the document (Naturalization Form) will my U.S. passport suffice? Thank you again
Hello thank you for watching :) I am not very sure about this. Since we need proof why we lost our Filipino citizenship ( via naturalization for example) . Maybe email the consulate to be sure? In my past experience, they have been responsive with my emails.
Hellooo,I was born in the philippines , with a filipina mother who is a citizen of the philippines and an american citizen father who registered my birth with the American Consulate in the Philippines ,during my birth year in 1046,I left the philippines in 1065 for the USA as you can see besides the fact that I have a filipina mother who is a citizen ,I have a filipino blood in me ,I also have time on my side close to twenty years , living and going to the school system there, most of all these Life experiences I have going up in the country I Speak the National pilipino Language, fluently, Read & write, I also speak two other dialects ,fluently read and write too . I am also married to a filipina woman for more than fifty one yrs now.both of us applied for dual citizenship she was granted her dual citizen, I was Denied. How can my life experiences.in the philippines recognice ,surely I meet more than the requirements needed for a dual citizenship, please advice. Thank you very much,....I look forward for your advice... I applied for a dual Citizen
Hello Harry, do you mean 1946 (birth year) I am not too familiar with your case, but one American dad has mentioned to me that their child was born in the Philippines not too long ago to Filipina mom as well too making their child Filipino citizen by birth as the mode of citizenship in the Philippines and the American dad had to just report their child’s birth to the US embassy so he will have Filipino-American dual citizenship. I wonder if that’s your case too? Do u have by any chance a Filipino birth certificate? Maybe you are already a Fil-Am? Sorry I am not too familiar with your case.
Thank you for watching :) No need to go to the office for appointment. It’s available online. If you go to the consulate website ( the consulate who has jurisdiction over your home) like sa amin SF consulate for example, if you click dual citizenship, they have a button to click for appointments. Now I applied last year. Somebody told me they might be accepting walk-ins now so please double check. :)
Thanks for watching :) I am not sure if meron jan sa Pinas. Assumption ko lang to ha like US walang embassy and consulate sa loob ng US so sa Pinas I am assuming na you will have submit it sa labas ng bansa so you can find a consulate general of embassy outside of Philippines to process your dual citizenship. I hope this helps Kaye ☺️
Hello! Yung affidavit of dual citizenship ba ung kelangan mo? Ung form na kelangan i-notarized? You cab find it under “additional documents” or the way i found it was under FAQs regarding name change/ different name tapos may link sila sa form para ma print mo :)
I’m not sure how it happened but I was born to an American father to a Filipina mom in Cebu City but somehow I was considered an American born abroad. My mother was still in fact a Filipino Citizen so I qualify I just feel like it’s weird I didn’t retain my Filipino citizenship too. I plan on applying for my dual citizenship when I’m in the Philippines where would I go to do that ?
Hi Ms Tifanne super great video po and congratulations to you! question po who notarized your dual citizenship affidavit? we have the same issue po, I change my last name to my husband's last name when we get married po. I am looking forward to hearing from you po. Thank you in advance.
Hello Monaliza 💓 thank you for watching! Pmunta lang ako sa Wells Fargo may taga notarize sila dun. You can also go to UPS and other banks ata? Just Google it for notary public near you pero sa Wells Fargo kasi that time, they can notarize for anyone kahit wala kang account with them and it’s for free. Sa UPS may bayad.
@@Tifanee08 Hi Ms Tifanne thank you po for the reply, sa part po ba ng (AFFIANT’S SIGNATURE OVER PRINTED NAME) this is for the dual citizenship affidavit form did you write your married name po or should I write po my single name? Thank you in advance.
I am American man married to a Filipina who is a naturalized US citizen now and applying for her dual citizenship . I would like to get ,my Philippine Citizenship also. What is the process for that and is it difficult to get??
Hello Milehigh Peter, Congratulations to your wife for getting her dual- citizenship. I am not very familiar with your particular case. I have only looked up dual citizenships for people/ children who have at least one parent who is a Filipino citizen. I recommend you check the official website of the nearest Philippine Consulate/ Embassy. Good luck Peter ☺️
Hello. :) naka notarize na lahat ng forms ko pag dating ko for my appointment. Sa Wells Fargo ako nag pa notarize kasi free ☺️. Back in 2021 yun ha so check mo baka they still do it para makalibra ka. Sabi ng banker they do it even for people na walang account with them.
Hi Ate, I went to the Philippine Consulate in NY yesterday for my dual citizen appointment-- and it turns out that I'm already a dual citizen by birth. I was then informed to report my birth, which I did. I have to go back next week to get a certificate or something to show that the report of my birth went through. I plan to study in the Philippines for college in February, for the second semester. I am also applying for a PH passport as well. Do I need other types of documents to show that I am a dual citizen while I am there, besides my PH and US Passports? Thank you in advance!
Melissa! Congratulations sa dual citizenship mo. When you go back next week to pick up your certificate maybe dk also? So 2021 I did a report of birth for my daughter, after I received the certificate I had to wait 6 months ata to request/ order her Philippine birth certificate from the PSA website. That’s what I needed if I wanted to apply for her passport. But maybe ask if the certificate your are getting next week is enough to apply for a passport? Not sure about that kasi. When we visited last year, I entered using my US passport then I showed them my dual citizenship certificate with my name and my picture. Since ROB ka, I am not sure how it works. Ask mo yung consukate officers ha 💓 good luck with your ROB
New subscriber here Ms T ,tanong ko lang Kung married sa Pinas and divorced na ngayun , required pa ba yung copy ng marriage certificate from Pinas for dual citizen ? Salamat sa sagot .
Thank you for watching the video. So for this one, I just checked the Philippine Consulate General website, ito sagot nila :) c. If married in the Philippines - Marriage Certificate (MC) issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) formerly National Statistics Office (NSO). To request a certified copy of the marriage certificate from PSA, please click here. d. If married in the U.S. or in other countries - Marriage Certificate/s duly issued by the City/County where the marriage was celebrated or Country (if married outside the US) and Divorce Decree if divorced, Marriage and Death Certificate of Spouse if widow/widower.
Tifanee, I’m USA Citizen mayroon akong USA passport but hindi ko makita ang lumang pilipino passport ko almost 20 year. Anong gagawin ko? Gusto kong mag dual citizen.
Hello po! Thank you for watching. Sa Philippine consulate website po ng stat kung saan kayo mag aaply under their forms or other documents meron sila dun affidavit for stolen or lost passport po. You can print that and fill-out the form tapos i pa notarize nyo po. It can also be found under FAQs with the same question and may link sila for the form :)
Hello question po. Nakapag renew na po ako ng PH passport bago ako naging dual citizen. Now that I have US passport. Puwede ko pa rin bang gamitin ung PH passport ko kahit na renew ko sya bago ako naging dual? Thanks so much po
Hello kabayan! Thanks for watching. That was my case as well too. Kaka renew ko lang ng passport a year before ako naging US citizen. I went to the Philippine Consulate general website and under the FAQs with the same question as you, this was their answer “No, your old Philippine passport was rendered null and void the moment you were naturalized as a US citizen. You must surrender it to the Consulate for cancellation. You are, however, eligible to apply for a new Philippine passport upon the successful retention/reacquisition of your Philippine citizenship.”
Or need pa mag wait ng 1-year bago mag apply?
Hello. Great video. I am a dual US and PH citizen. I have a US passport and a Certificate of Retention of Citizenship from the Bureau of Immigration. I dont have any unexpired PH picture ID. Will I be able to register a SIM card? Thanks
Hello Michael, thank you for watching. Lalabas if you Google “Affidavit of Dual Citizenship Philippine Consulate” or you can check your consulate’s website nasa forms or other forms sya :)
I'm a American, my wife is Filipino we got married in the Philippines, my wife does not have dual citizenship. now we have a son that was born in the Philippines and he will be 20 months old in oct. what will I need to do to get our son dual citizenship.
Hello Daphne, thanks for watching. Do you mean you lost your old Phil passport? If you lost it there is an affidavit of lost or stolen passport that you need to submit. Ib my case the one I had was expired so I also submitted that one.
Hello! Salamat for watching 💓… kung nawala ung passport mo, kelangan mo mag present ng affidavit of loss of passport :) nasa additional forms ata un or makikita mo sa FAQs ung question dun may link para sa form :) Good luck sa application kabayan!
Hello po, very informative video.
Hello! I am not sure about this one. Maybe email them to be sure? I know for passport application you can apply anywhere as my aunt did that recently but for dual citizenship, hindi sure about this Kabayan but I am assuming as long as you have your appointment or you are able to secure an appointment sa Texas then you should be good?
Hello Jhing, thank you for watching. Nasa FAQs sya ng consulate website may answer sila dun about last name question and they provided a link for the form or check mo under additional/ other forms. Good luck sa application :)
Hello sis thank you for watching. I am not sure. I recommend you email the consulate with this question. sa website kasi original talaga hinihingi nila.
Hello po. I just got my dual citizenship and would like to know if there are any other requirements besides 1. fill out application on line. 2. Schedule an appoinment 3. Dual citizenship papers 4. PSA Report of Marriage - if you want to use your husbands last name 5. PSA - Birth Certificate 6. Any ID such as Drivers license. 7. Self- addresses envelope. 8. CASH $ 60 Meron pa po ba akong nalimutan ? Salamat po sa pagsagot.
Congratulations on your dual citizenship! :) wait lang na confuse ako, hehehe so you are asking what you need to apply for your Philippine passport ba?
Hi Ms Tifanee, just wanted to know how did you fill out the Affidavit (Dual Citizenship) if your name in your Birth Certificate and current name is different due to marriage as I am carrying my husband’s last name now. Thanks.
Hello. :) thank you for watching. Do you mean the Affidavit of Dual Citizenship for change of name diba? So I wrote my name the one I have on my birth certificate and wrote my “other name” which is my married name. I just wrote my explanation why my name changed. So sa dual citizenship certificate ko may nakalagay na “aka/ also know as” para when I travel with my US passport alam na may other name ako. :) I hope this helps ☺️
Hello po, thank you for watching. No, I brought all of the requirements with me and submitted them in person during my appointment. Once the consulate officer officer reviewed them, he gave me all the original documents back and he just kept the copies.
Hello, thank you for watching. For this question, I recommend email mo yung consulate to be sure. You need proof kasi to show the reason why you lost your Filipino citizenship and that’s by naturalization. Nung na naturalized ako they told us you can go to the USCIS website to order a new one if mawala kaso may kamahalan dati $700 di ko lang alam ngayon.
where to get the affidavit dual citizenship form? How about if the passport expiration date expires in 2026, do you still need to apply the dual citizenship right away or after your Philippine passport expired?
Hello! Thank you for watching :) you can get the affidavit of dual citizenship form under other/ additional forms sa consulate website or you can just Google it :) As far as for the passport, your Philippine passport automatically becomes invalid daw when you become naturalized US citizen so you have to apply for another one kahit 2026 pa yung expiration date. ☺️ I hope this helps. Ingat
Hello, you only need to submit the copy of the naturalization but you do need to present all the originals first so the consular officer can check and verify all original documents :)
Mag apply po ako ng Dual Citizenship. Iniisip ko po din na mag apply na din po ng Philippine passport the same day, gaano katagal po kaya marereceive yung passport?
Hello RJ, thanks for watching. I didn’t apply on the same day. Pero two women from our batch nung oath taking they applied while waiting for the oath taking. Now, as far as gaano ka tagal, I applied for my dual citizenship Aug 2021. May tita applied for her passport November 2021 I think she got her passport after 4-5 weeks. So I would check the website and FAQs baka iba na ang timeline now :) good luck sa application!
Did acquiring your US citizenship invalidate your Philippine passport? So after mag oath taking for Philippine dual citizenship did you have to reapply for a Philippine passport?
Hello maam ask lng ako kasi nahihirapan ako mag book. Pano po pag yung bata 3yrs old pinanganak sa japan. Kukuha ng passport. Mother is filipina papa nya Japanese.
Hiii I submitted my app nung Nov 2021. Would you know how long the processing takes? Haven’t heard from them since they acknowledged that they received it. Thank you po!!
Hello. :) thank you for watching. Where did you apply for your dual citizenship? I am nit sure for this one. I just checked the website for SF Philippine consulate and they still require it to be done in person. I did mine back in August 2021 and I got my certificate on the same day. Did you submit a “report of birth?”
Thanks for video, very informative, only one little comment, wish your video was all in English so it will be easier for me to understand as I’m trying to help my wife get her dual citizenship and I don’t speak Tagalog
Thank you for watching. You can find them under additional forms or if you go to the FAQs in their website especially under the dual citizenship, they answer the questions and provide links that will take you to the right forms. ☺️
Questions? What if there is NO US Naturalization Certificate? Is it a must or mandatory? Example.my son acquire his US Citezenship thru us via parents as minor dependendent. Now he is adult now 18+years old, wanted to applied Phil Dual Citezenship, how will he do it witbout his own US Naturalization Certificate? thanks
Hello po, thank you for watching. I recommend emailing the consulate po for this question since I don’t know the answer. Baka ung certificate of naturalization nyo acceptable since he got naturalized through you as your dependent. In my experience po they are very responsive via email so I recommend you email them po para sigurado :)
Hello. Thank you for your video. Tanung ko lang, ung ba generated form na application for retention re/acquisition of phil citizenship, kailngan ba sa embassy panotarize or pwede sa mga public notary places? Thank you for your reply.
Hello Jude! Thank you for watching my video and leaving a comment. Yung generated form for re-acquisition of your Philippine citizenship di mo kelangan ipa notarize yun. You just submit it sa kanila. The only thing na kelangan mo ipanotarize is if you need to submit the affidavit of dual citizenship like kung iba name mo sa Philippine birth certificate mo at sa naturalization mo. Pero ung mismong application form you just need to fill it out and di mo kelangan ipanotarize un. :) good luck sa application kabayan!
@@arjunatienza124 hello tito, I did not have to have my application form notarized. But that’s in SF consulate po. Maybe double check ung website kung saan kayo mag apply?

Hello! Di ako sure about this one ha? Kasi sa Pinas walang consulate general or embassy ng Philippines so I don’t know if you can apply. I am assuming you can apply sa nearest country na may Philippine consulate or embassy but I recommend you check on this one and ask more people na alam ito ☺️. Good luck. :)
Hi! Can you guide me on the steps for applying dual citizenship if i’m using my spouse’s surname. I haven’t reported our marriage sa consulate so all my documents except for my US passport and cert of naturalization is still my maiden name. Thanks!
Hello Kristine, tama ba? You mean ung US passport mo and your cert of Naturalization is yung gamit mo na ung last name ng husband mo? You can print the dual citizenship affidavit- you can find that form on the consulate website or just Google, “affidavit of dual citizenship philippine consulate” in that form explain mo lang why your last name is different tapos have it notarized. With regards report of marriage naman di ako sure maybe email the relevant consulate kung saan ka mag apply to make sure okay lang ung original Marriage Cert nyo from US? :)
Ate saan mo pina-notarize yung documents mo? Sa Nevada or sa California na? In other words, pina-notarize mo ba before or after your dual citizenship appointment?
Thank you for watching! Sa Wells Fargo ako nag pa notarize sa Nevada sa Wells Fargo kasi they notarize for free kasi hehe. You have to have the forms na kelangan notarized, notarized already before your appointment for dual citizenship. I hope this helps ☺️
Hello King, thank you for watching. We were married in the US. A year after we got married I had to submit a “report of marriage” as a requirement to renew my Philippine passport. This was years before I became a US citizen. Because I was able to submit a report of marriage, I was able to request PSA to send me a copy of my PSA authenticated marriage certificate. I recommend that you email the consulate if your original marriage certificate is enough :)
The consular officer said I don’t need to have the Philippine passport if I already have my US one. I just need to show my certificate one we get there in the Philippines. We have been traveling full time for the past 6 months around South America using my US passport so I fill out forms for immigration/ customs and write USA corresponding to the passport I have. Having a Philippine passport would be a lot easier especially if traveling around Southeast Asia so I am looking into getting my passport once the time comes. We just want to travel with as little documents as possible. Thank you for watching. :) did you get your dual citizenship already? :)
@@Tifanee08 Interesting. I figured that’s the case. I think that’s the benefit of having dual citizenship and having two passports. Whichever is easier and accessible depending on which country you are visiting. No, not yet; I just recently became a US citizen. Hello Alex, sorry na late ang reply ko. LA has their own consulate general so you don't have to go to SF for your application. Actually if you go to their website the consulates mention where you should go and what branch has the jurisdiction over your address. good luck sa application :)
hello po ma'am, dual citizen po ako ng Pilipinas at US, kukuha po ako ng PH passport dito sa Pilipinas, may appointment na po ako sa DFA, pero nalilito po ako kung anong category ang mga dual citizens sa pagkuha ng passport, so in cofusion, nilagay ko nalang po na new/first time applicant ako. my question is need ko lang po ba I-RENEW yung luma kong Philippine non-ePassport (pero may naka-stamp na po na "CANCELLED" na sa passport galing PH consulate sa LA) or kailangan po ulit kumuha ng PANIBAGONG Philippine Passport bilang NEW/FIRST TIME APPLICANT. May mga ibang videos po kasi ako na napanood na nagsasabing ipaparenew lang yung lumang passport not apply for a new one, and may mga nagsasabi din po na first time applicant daw po ako. honestly nakakalito po kung ano po ang dapat kong gawin, aaply po ba ng panibago bilang NEW APPLICANT or ipaparenew ko lang po yung luma kong passport pero cancelled na po sya. thank you so much po ma'am, God bless po.
Hello po, thank you for watching my video. I am honestly not familiar with this po especially regarding passports since I didn’t apply for one. Sabi kasi ng consulate officer it’s not required. We are full time travelers po so having two passports each for myself and my daughter would be a little worrisome kasi baka magkawalaan. We are currently visiting Philippines and all I did was present my dual citizenship form sa immigration officer and he just stamped my US passport without any date (for exit) since we can stay indefinitely here as dual citizens. ☺️
Hola Ate Kumusta ka karon? Im a US citizen and trying to research the process of this as well. But my question is does this apply for US citizens wanting dual citizenship with the Philippines?
Hello! Thank you for watching. Okay lang ako. Ikaw kmusta? :) as for your question, this video only applies to former Filipino citizens who are reacquiring their citizenship again after being naturalized as US citizens ☺️.
What if you don't have a US certificate of naturalization? I derived citizenship when my parents became US citizens as I was a child. I saw on the Consulate website that I would need a notarized affidavit of explanation, but it does not state whether I would need to get that AT the consulate or IF I need to print it out and get it notarized beforehand. Please help, thanks!
Hello. :) thank you for watching. You just need to print that out and then write your explanation why you don’t have the certificate of naturalization. Then you just take that form to be notarized ☺️
Great video Tifanee thank you for that! I can't find my particular situation online or in other videos so thank you for taking my question . My daughter's birth mom is PH born and a US citizen most of her life and a US Passport holder. I am US born and US citizen (and filipino ethnicity). Daughter is US born and US citizen and holds a US Passport. Daughter needs PH Passport, does daughter need to apply to be a dual citizenship to qualify for a PH Passport?
Hello po Jay, Sorry for my delayed response. Yes. If you want your daughter to qualify for a PH passport, you guys will have to submit an ROB (report of birth) to your nearest Philippine embassy/ consulate. That’s if you or your wife was still a Filipino citizen at the time of your daughter’s birth. Let me give you the link here. ruclips.net/video/UAtx08vmeDM/видео.html

Hi Tifanee, This is very informative and thank you. I just have one question. Does all requirements ( birth, marriage) have to be coming form PSA? What about if you have all these in your possession? What happens if you have a negative result on your PSA request? Please advise and again thank you.
Hello po tito Nilo, thanks for watching my video. Do you have the old one po yung NSO or the older version? My aunt used her very first birth certificate yung super luma na form ng NSO parang faded na nga but they accepted it. If you didn’t do a report of marriage tito and you just have the regular marriage certificate from US, I think it is okay? Kasi I emailed someone before and sabi nila it was okay. I submitted my documents via email for review just to see if I am missing anything and it was okay. I just happened to have the PSA marriage certificate kasi I reported my marriage years ago po. Just to be sure tito maybe email the consulate? Since it’s really not your fault that you have a negative result?
Hi Tifanee, Sorry to ask questions again on Dual Citizenship processing. How do you make an appointment every Monday like this month (May) all dates says"There is no availability on this date. Please choose another one. All the dates are not available. And I can't move the month to the next month. Or do I only have to fill out all question. Please advise. Thank you so much
Hi Tifanee! Can you still apply without US passport but only US Naturalization Certificate. I'm still waiting for my passport to arrive but can't wait in 3 weeks time.
Hello Angela, thank you for watching. That part I am not sure. I know aside from your naturalization cert, you need to present a legal ID or something. Maybe email mo sila just to be sure? :)
does US and AUSTRALIAN application for dual citizenship has the same procedure??? coz i am in the process of my application here in Australia, am just waiting for my Australian passport to arrive by mail...
Hello Akona! Thank you for watching my video and congratulations on your Australian citizenship :). I recommend you check the Australian immigration website if they allow dual citizenship and also the Philippine embassy/ consulate website for Australia. I honestly don’t know the answer to your question but I assume it’s different? Good luck with your application 😃
Hi question lang po. Kapag nagnaturalized ako as a minor tru naturalization derivatives from my parents and now i am an adult, how do i show proof na im naturalized since hinde naman po ako nakakuha ng naturalization certificate. Salamat in advance.
Hello Liza, salamat for watching. I am not sure about the tweet app to get an appointment. I never had to do it. But I did mine last August last year so maybe it changed? Try to check the consulate website every Monday at 8-9am and keep refreshing lang during the day when you check. They open up their appointments that day. But not sure about the tweet app part.
Thanks for a wonderful video. Do you think you can make a video on how the children of Philippine born Parents who migrated to US then had children, could get dual citizenship? In other words, reversed. how a US citizen for Philippine parents could get dual citizenship.
Hello :) thank you for watching and for your request :) I actually have that already! ruclips.net/video/UAtx08vmeDM/видео.html This is the link to another video of mine for doing a report of birth. This is only applicable though if one or both parents were still a citizen of the Philippines at the time of the the kid/s birth :)
Hello po, okay na po yun. The one I have was the original NSO for my birth certificate tito Isidro since luma na ung copy ko and PSA naman for the marriage certificate since this year ko lang kinuha ung copy. My aunt just recently applied and her NSO copy was very old na tito pero they accepted it po kasi it’s original basta clear and readable lang tito :) good luck sa application nyo and thank you for watching po.
My daughter was born 2 years ago during covid lockdowns. Was impossible to apply for a Philippines passport so we apply for a foreign passport which she used to exit. Does she need to do anything else to get the dual citizenship. Her father is foreigner and mother pinay.
Hello po, sorry for my delayed reply. So your family is currently in the Philippines? :) was your daughter born in the US to a Filipina mom? If yes, all you have to do is submit an ROB (report of birth) to your nearest Philippine embassy or consulate :)
Hello :) Thank you for watching. Sorry, I am not familiar with this. I think the best thing to do kabayan is to email the consulate that has the jurisdiction over where you live so you get the right answer 💓
I just applied for dual citizenship at Bureau of Immigration in Manila. Any idea how long will the process would take? Wait nalang daw po ako ng email or call from them
Hello Carlo! Good luck with your application. You mean ba yung how long is the wait after mo submit documents mo? Same day lang yung sa akon sa SF. I summited all the documents sa umaga tapos mga lunch time oath taking na.
Hello Paolo, thank you for watching. If you have your US passport, maybe email the Philippine Consulate if that should suffice? They needed the naturalization certification as proof of your reason why you lost your Phil certification. I remember with USCIS this was a few years ago they mentioned if you lose your certificate you can request for another copy but for a fee.
Hi Good morning. Question po. I haven't made an appointment online yet. Not Monday yet! So when I get my appointment online in San Francisco consulate, can I download my application and fill it out? Or do I have to do that online and upload my documents after I get an appointment? Thanks Ate
Hello Joseph, thanks for watching. Once you schedule your appointment- you will receive an email confirmation tapos may link doon to take you to your application form. You can fill it out online then once your submit it you can print it afterwards. I think, they also email you your completed form so you can print it afterwards. Good luck ☺️
Hello. Great video. I applied for dual citizenship in 2009 in Manila. The Bureau of Immigration in Manila gave me a "Certificate of Reaquisition/Retention of Citizenship". It has my picture in it. It is only one page. Some mentioned that it has 3 pages? Am I missing something? Pls help. Thanks
Thank you for watching GM. Yes, I got 3 pages too. First page; Oath of Allegiance, Second Page; Order of Approval; tapos third page; “identification certificate” which has the picture in it and the thumb prints. When I came home to visit family last year for three months, going in and out of the Philippines the immigration officer only looked at the third page. Maybe email the consulate and ask to be sure that you’re not missing any pages? It could be that they started just printing out and including the first two pages after 2009. It could be a new thing? :)
@@Tifanee08 i appreciate the reply Tifanee. Can you pls post a pic of the 1st and 2nd page so everyone can see? you can block out any sensitive info if there is some. thanks

Hello :) thank you for watching. You can schedule your passport application on the same day na mag apply ka dual citizenship para isahan nalang :) I didnt do it pero the two women on my group for oath taking while waiting for the oath taking nakiusap sila kung pwede mag apply passport. Wala silang schedule nun pero dala lang nila lahat ng documents.

Glad I found this video. I am American born looking to get dual citizenship through my ninay.
Hello, just did my dual yesterday, all went well. Just an update, I no longer own a Philippine passport for the last 25 years and IT WAS PERFECTLY FINE, no need to download and fill out a form or anything. The lady asked if I still own one and I said no and she just said no worries. Thanks.
Awesome! Congratulations on your dual citizenship and thank you for the update so I can help others who have the same question. ☺️ have a good night!

Thank you. Gil
Hello Gil,
Thank you for your feedback. My initial target audience are former Filipino viewers who are trying to do the dual citizenship application and I realize over the years there are viewers like you who are non-Filipino speakers who assist family members. It is very admirable you are helping your wife figure this out. Let me try to help you as much as I can ☺️
@@Tifanee08 Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. This was very helpful. Gil

Hello Mrs. Tifanee,
Just recently 2 days ago became a US Citizen, looking for the best informative blog about how to became a Dual Citizen?.
On second page of the dual cititzenship application, does the applicant need to have his/her signature Notorized before arriving for appointment.
Thanks for sharing your experience its a great help. QUESTION? where can i get AFFIDAVIT (For Dual Citizenship) FORM?
Thank you for watching my video po! If your name is different from naturalization certificate and you birth certificate po then you will need the affidavit for dual citizenship. You can find it under “additional documents” or in my casee po I found it under FAQs included in their answer regarding name change and the link was there to print the affidavit.
I appreciate you for watching :) good luck sa application po!
Pwede ka pa ba mag apply ng dual citizenship kahit ilang decades kana dito sa US?
Very Informative itong vlog na eto, i recommended it to my friends and families. anyways, i got my appointment.,
Ate, may tanong lang po ako. do i need to get a Philiipines Passport kung uuwi sa Pilipinas.
Grabe sobrang thank you for watching and for recommending my video. I really appreciate it!
Nope, di mo kelangan ng Philippine passport pag uwi mo. U can use your US passport and just bring your certificate of dual citizenship pag pasok mo. Pero, if may time ka pa? At pupunta ka na sa appointment mo? i would recommend isama mo na din yung pag apply ng Philippine passport mo para maging under ka talaga sa category 1 na “Filipino Citizen” sa list of people traveling to Pinas. Ung mga nakasabay ko pati ung isang kilala ko, wala silang appointment for passport pero nakiusap sila mag apply na din dun habang nag aantay ng same say oath taking for dual citizenship. Pag may time ka pa, set ka appointment for passport. Yan yung isang regret ko sana nag apply nadin ako passport nung nandun ako. Also sabi nung nakausap ko, it will make it easier pag nag travel ka around Asia sa neighboring countries natin para di ka hingian ng visa to enter kasi baka di nila tanggapin ung certificate lang.
Good luck sa appointment mo and again dont stress kung di ka makaapply passport that day but if my time ka, I would recommend it para din di mo dala dala ung certificate mo palagi pag nag travel ka.

Hello Tiffany, I am American born in San Francisco, and I’d like to know if it is possible to obtain a Philippine passport? My ethnicity is Filipino.
Hello thank you for watching. Since I don’t know how old you are, you can also look into ROB ( report of birth)
As per the consulate website if at the time of your birth, one of your parents or both of them were still Filipino citizens, then you are a dual citizen by birth. You just need to do a report of birth or if you are younger you can have your parents do it for you.
Please email the consulate as well to so they can guide you properly as I am not very familiar with this 🙏. I hope you get your dual citizenship 💓

Just to be sure you guys can email the Philippine Consulate General if SF, they are very responsive to questions via email in my experience. :)
Hi Tiffany,
thank you for the information…but one question for you. What if I don’t have the document (Naturalization Form) will my U.S. passport suffice?
Thank you again

I am not very sure about this. Since we need proof why we lost our Filipino citizenship ( via naturalization for example) . Maybe email the consulate to be sure? In my past experience, they have been responsive with my emails.

Hello thank you for the informative video! How would I set an appointment? Would I go to the office at 9am and schedule an appointment there?

No need to go to the office for appointment. It’s available online. If you go to the consulate website ( the consulate who has jurisdiction over your home) like sa amin SF consulate for example, if you click dual citizenship, they have a button to click for appointments. Now I applied last year. Somebody told me they might be accepting walk-ins now so please double check. :)

Hi, did you submit your requirements prior to coming to the consulate?
Hello po, thank you for watching. No, I brought all of the requirements with me and submitted them in person during my appointment. Once the consulate officer officer reviewed them, he gave me all the original documents back and he just kept the copies.
My ex took my US naturalization papers and don’t want to give back to me. Do I really need it ? I have my US passport.
Hello! Thank you for watching :) you can get the affidavit of dual citizenship form under other/ additional forms sa consulate website or you can just Google it :)
As far as for the passport, your Philippine passport automatically becomes invalid daw when you become naturalized US citizen so you have to apply for another one kahit 2026 pa yung expiration date. ☺️ I hope this helps. Ingat
Hello, do I need to give just the copy of my certificate of naturalization o they need the oroginal?

I don't get it from last part ka oath mo lang as a american citizen and that day you apply for your Filipino citizenship too the same day .?
Where can I get the affidavit of explanation. Because there asking for affidavit explanation
In my experience po they are very responsive via email so I recommend you email them po para sigurado :)
hello. how many photocopies of each requirements should i bring for my dual citizenship application?
Hello Angela, during the time of my application I presented all original copies and then one set of photocopies of all the required documents :)
That was back in 2021 ha just just double check with the consulate website to make sure :)
Okay. Thank you so much.😘

@@irienefaas2897 It’s on their website.
Hi. Marriage certificate approved by PSA, is that only if you got married in the Philippines?
Hello King, thank you for watching.
We were married in the US. A year after we got married I had to submit a “report of marriage” as a requirement to renew my Philippine passport. This was years before I became a US citizen. Because I was able to submit a report of marriage, I was able to request PSA to send me a copy of my PSA authenticated marriage certificate. I recommend that you email the consulate if your original marriage certificate is enough :)

Hello :) pag dual citizen yup you can stay for as long as you want. :)
Now that you are a dual citizen, how do you fill out any forms when it asks what your citizenship is?
I’m waiting for my US passport to come in the mail then next step is dual citizenship.
How about I’m LA. Do I need to Go San Francisco to apply for Citizenship na dual

Hello po tito Nilo, thanks for watching my video. Do you have the old one po yung NSO or the older version?
