This is a good book. Does provide a step by step introduction to how to build things ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 , also does offer some steps. Includes pictures to give you ideas for layouts and such. If you are looking for a guide, this is not exactly what you want. But if you are trying to familiarize yourself with the way that pole barn building and other out buildings, are made, then this will work just as you need it to. A few things in this book are a barn (of course), detached garage, storage building, and coops.

I know they ignore comments, but I commented when he built it, it was too flat even for a non living roof. not to mention those weeds and such will start to grow up and behind the siding. Seen it happen on may residing jobs I've done where the siding is to close to finished grade. Additionally he did not extend it out far enough so all that water beating down on the stairs will wear out the red wood and treated sub frame they are built on. Remember treated and red wood do rot, it just takes longer for them to do so.

They gonna have big problem with weeding and/or dead plants. In the beginning, they may tend the living roof religiously, but as time pass, life happen and eventually it becomes why bother to keeping it up... ...

Your videos are so well made; so creative, music, shots, funny moments, educational, fun and heart warming. You guys should consider making these into a mini series on Netflix, or a movie documentary. Who knows, a reality show one day. Btw, totally love Bear. And omg, how did you shoot the water going into the red bucket and then pouring out from it??? hahaha! Super cool shot!

Yup, you are likely correct. As I think about it being aesthetic, it's kind of hard to see if it is on the roof. I give them lots of credit for trying but not something I'd probably would vote for.

I have been involved with or seen roughly 45 or 50 living roofs. About 25 of them are over 10 years old now and have had absolutely not a single problem. The rest have had varying amounts of problems. In every single case without exception, the ones that have not worked well or have had rot problems have had engineering defects or build defects. Properly designed you should be able to get 20 to 30 years without maintenance on a well done living roof. Nature builds her own natural ones, and they work perfectly. If we learn from her techniques, we can build our own and have them work perfectly...stated from experience, not cuz someone told me so lol.
