  • This Ford 3000 hasn’t run in a long time, now it’s going, it’s time to get the gauges working and the alternator charging.

Heres a tip for your injector pump. Connect a grunty little spring into one hole on your stop lever anfd the other end into the throttle lever. This way the throttle is always in idle when stopping and it pulls the cable back in without you having to push it. Plus always make sure the throttle can return to idle. It was in a modification bulletin from CAV waaaay back in the day.

Good job. You have so many vehicles and motors, by the time you finish servicing them all, you will have to start again. 😂
What is the old Ford going to be doing?

The Ford is my Neighbours tractor, I’m just servicing it for him. Will most likely be doing a lot of slashing and from what he has told me, dragging trees around.

nice work, mine has a generator and it would be good to upgrade to an alternator like your tractor

Honestly keep the generator, much less mucking around. I love them as they are adjustable and easily diagnosable if they break down.

each time i disconnect the battery (which is after i use it each time due to a month or so just sitting)I have to (forgot now) flash the generator or regulator to make the generator to charge

From my understanding flashing or “polarising” should only need to be done once, and once it is done you are set. Do you get a distinct spark when you flash? It is very weird that all of a sudden your battery will start charging after a repolarise on the dynamo.

It needs to be flashed everytime you disconnect the battery, otherwise it wont charge the battery... and yeah you do get a small spark...i dont do that much, i just leave it and charge the battery over night from time to time... I did flash it once off the generator positive and it worked as well@@BIGRIG2005.
