    Haven’t even gotten all the way thru your vid yet but I’m doing this on my tractor soon and I can already tell that this is EXACTLY what I needed to find to make it happen. Thank you for making such clear, informative video of the procedure that doesn’t leave any steps or information out and most especially thank you for not filling the whole thing up with a bunch of BS chatter because you like the sound of your voice oh so much. Hate that. Finding vids like this however is pure gold and I feel lucky for it. Nice work and thanks again!

    Loved the gear puller joke, should always lubricate the bolt in center of puller and use a 1/2 drive impact wrench
    (300 lbs of hammer torque)

    Thanks for the very clear and detailed video. Was just wondering what the behaviour of the pump should be when the timing marks are aligned? Trying to help out with the rebuild of a Ford which has a similar pump, though 6 cylinder, and when we have the marks lined up fuel still flows from the number 1 valve when trying the spill timing. When we supposedly line up all the timing marks the tractor still will not start and we are wondering if there is something wrong with the pump and we should remove it to look at getting it serviced.

      thehermitish1 thank you for commenting. I would remove the top element and check it for stuck plungers and stuck delivery valves.

      @@poulgammelgaard8868 thanks for the reply, I will pass the advise on to the owner. We are able to get the spill timing to engage but the timing mark on the plate is a good 60 degrees back from the mark on the casing. Regardless, something we will have to investigate further.

      You will probably find your control rod or rack may be in the wrong position for spill timing.
      Vaccum gov pumps are different to Mark 2 mech pumps like this and they are different to D-series Minimecs in adjusting the timing.
      Plus you turn the engine in direction of rotation so that with the side door of the inj pump off you can see number one tappet lifting and what you want is the first of cutoff. Then replace the delivery valve, button it up, bleed it and I always pop the excess fuel
      Button to bleed the air out faster than cranking it over with it off and she should fire up straight away..

      @@poulgammelgaard8868 fortunately, before proceeding to the strip, I replaced a broken bleed screw, and the engine started. I think I'm going to put the injection pump strip off for a winter job, unless the hard starting problem returns.

    I have the Ford 3000 with this Simms Injection pump. Sadly the Injection pump was already taken off when I got the tractor So I need to figure out where it was set as per timing marks at the pump. My middle plunger is stuck ( Soaking in Marvel mystery oil ) Now it's in CRC Evapo-Rust said to work great on rust ) So far I have not found a socket with the right splines either to remove the top section. I heard it's 34 teeth for Ford where Metric is 33 teeth. Pump did not have any or much oil in the right hand section....

    • @poulgammelgaard8868
      @poulgammelgaard8868  Год назад +1

      Injectionpumps.co.uk have the special socket. If you watch my video at 42.55 you can see the timing marks under the little cover on the back end of the pump. With the ford 3000 on 19 degrees BTDC on the compression stroke it matches. You find the marks on the tractor flywheel behind a little cover on the bottom af the clutch housing. I find it easiest to rotate the engine, if I take off the starter motor and have acces to the teeth on the flywheel. To figure out if the tractor is on compression stroke, you maybe have to take off the valve cover.

    I'd like to see what you went through for the timing of taking the fuel injection pump off the motor? I understand you got to be careful when you do that but it goes on exactly the same way?

    • @poulgammelgaard8868
      @poulgammelgaard8868  2 года назад +1

      When you bolt the gear back on the front of the pump, the bolt holes are slotted, so you can not be sure where it is correct. Before taking the pump off, you have to turn the tractor to 19 deg btdc on the compression stroke. There is a little plate to take off on bottom of the clutch housing where you can read the 19 deg on the flywheel. On the pump there are timing marks on both ends, as I show in the video.

    • @poulgammelgaard8868
      @poulgammelgaard8868  Год назад +1

      You can replace just one, but I would replace all three, but after replacing one or more the pump needs to be calibrated. You could alternatively just transfer the lever from a new plunger to the old plunger if you have a hydraulic press. It has to be oriented exactly the same in order to get the calibration right.
