I lived in NYC most of my life. After my 3 year tour in the Marine Corps I entered the NYC Police Dept. One of the first things taught in the academy was to never leave a firearm in a vehicle. I would venture to say that most guns stolen, were stolen out of a vehicle. Either someone left it there because they were too lazy to put it back in their holster or forgot to take it out of the vehicle. I've carried a firearm concealed from the time I left the academy. I never leave my firearm in a vehicle. I've traveled on the dreaded subway to Manhattan for years with a firearm concealed on my person and nobody knew I was armed. I've stood on line to go see a movie or at a supermarket. It's of no use to me in a vehicle if someone tries to rob me on the street or in a gas station if some mutt tries to rob it and I'm standing on line behind him. Today, I live in PA. I still carry. I drive a pickup. But, I'm still carrying on my person.

I do leave a handgun in my vehicle. I had a revolver and a pair of Swarovski el binoculars stolen out of my unlocked pickup in my carport once by a twelve year old one night. His dad found them in the kids backpack. He carried that Taurus 85 to school for a week.

Same here. I'm licensed to carry, but I can't carry into a post office, or even leave my gun in my vehicle on a post office parking lot. By law, I have to park off post office property and leave my gun in my vehicle to do business in the post office.

Really good advice. I'm a CT resident and carry a commander size Kimber 1911 in .45 acp everyday on my person concealed. Never inside my car. My Kimber is only found in three possible places, on me IWB holster, bedside table when I'm asleep or in a gun safe when I have to leave CT and go to NY or MA where they hate our 2A rights. Cars are the least secure places to store anything. My old Subaru Outback was vandalized in MA once when I had a CCDL, NRA and Glock sticker. Each of the stickers were vandalized and my paint scratched. Since then, I have a new Subaru Outback with no gun stickers and no one has messed with it. Here in CT, cars are broken into all the time probably other states as well. Driving a Subaru, the leftists will think that I'm a "tree-hugging" liberal but in reality I am a Trump supporting Conservative and stanch supporter of our 2A rights. Keeping a low profile and carrying concealed even though open carry is allowed here, just makes sense and avoids unwanted attention from anti-gun leftists or LE. Thanks for the informative videos Matt.

The only time my gun is not on me when I'm out is if I have to go to the courthouse, other than that it's on my hip. As far as the gas station scenario, we are not supposed to stop robberies, we aren't working for the store. If they have a weapon and they're robbing the store then let them rob it, they have insurance. Now if they start shooting or stabbing then that's a different story.

I carry on me wherever I go. However, I keep a small .38 revolver that I got for like 200$ at a pawnshop in my glove box for my wife to have incase I go inside a store and she decides to stay in the vehicle because no matter what I can’t get the woman to carry her firearm on her. It sits in the safe collecting dust. So if someone steals it I’m only out of $200. The things literally a steal turd.

Excellent points. My dad made this mistake several years back while on vacation in Florida. His Kimber Custom TLE was stolen from his car. That's why I avoid leaving a gun in my vehicle whenever possible. Another point I'll make is if you leave a firearm in your vehicle, you have to be extra diligent about cleaning that gun on a regular basis, especially in the South. Last summer when all the "peaceful protests" were happening, my brother kept his H&K pistol in his truck because he was working on a construction site in a sketchy part of our nearest metropolitan city. When he took that pistol to the range during Christmas, the pistol had issues with the trigger not resetting because the humid, southern summer caused the trigger mechanism to start rusting. Thankfully, the rust was minor, and cleaning and lubing the pistol resolved the issue, but it's nevertheless another reason to not store a gun in your vehicle.

So this may not be a good idea, but I usually carry a revolver on my person at all times, however i keep a 1911 in my jeep as well. I don't disagree that you need one on your person at all times, but when seated in a vehicle its hard to pull it and present it if needed. So I have one of those magnetic "holsters" mounted under my dash. I move it to a safe under the driver seat when im not in my Jeep..

Okay, question; What if you’re a professional weldor? Perhaps I’m being overly cautious but carrying my 1911 while welding don’t seem too bright.

I'm a fabricator and I completely understand what you are saying. Odd of there being gun violence at your work are probably next to none so a lockbox in the car/truck while you are at work isn't a biggie. Matt is just trying to say don't ADVERTISE you have/store a gun in your vehicle, and don't leave it in there unless you absolutely have to.

Good advise, Matt. In my way of thinking, someone who plasters gun stickers, or even one or two, on their auto may as well plaster one on their forehead while they're at it when they walk around. You carry concealed for a reason. Sure there are times when you may not be able to carry one into a building, in that case at least have a type of metal gun storage safe chained to your seat. If I have to leave my gun in my car I have a metal gun safe that fits under my rear seat chained to a post that you really have to get down to see, if you can see it at all. It's just a wise decision, along with locking your car.
Really like your channel. Keep up the great work

Yeah 100% agree, I've always thought the gun stickers on a car is just a really stupid advertisement, we conceal carry so no one knows we have a weapon on us so why the hell would you blatantly put something that screams "there's a possibility i have a glock 19 in here unguarded come and get it" i feel like the grey man mentality is the best one when it comes to guns and concealed carry, stop advertising with stickers just put them on your gun safe, not your truck

This just reminded me of a funny story. One day I got pulled over for speeding a little, when the officer approached I advised him I had two firearms in the vehicle. Normally in AZ they ask where they are and then tell you not to go for them and that that, but this gentleman, I suppose, wanted to be very thorough. He asked where they were I said one was on my belt and one was in the back (my wife's 2000 Durango). He asked me to use a finger and thumb and hand him my pistol, which I did. Then he glanced in the back and said "where in the back?"
There is a little storage cubby in the floor just inside the back hatch. So he asked me to slowly, show him where it was... I guess he was expecting another pistol because when I opened the cubby to reveal my fully kitted out AR-15 he stumbled back a bit while swearing. This made me laugh but I made sure to keep my hands in plain sight. Having a military background I knew the last thing I needed was him panicking any further. With a smile on my face (and my hands up) I said, now you see why it wasn't just sliding around on the back seat. This seamed to ease his tension a bit. He asked me to leave there and go sit back in the driver's seat. He ran both the guns to see if they were stolen. Some people would have gotten angry and mouthy by now but I'm not stupid and I appreciate someone doing proper checks. After everything came back clear he brought my pistol back and we had a nice chat about how he almost had to change his drawers. He had recently transferred from California Highway Patrol and the last time he saw a "military grade weapon" someone from a cartel was trying to kill him with it. Remember folks, they are humans too... Just let them do their jobs. They want to get off work and go home just as bad, if not more than you do.
Btw I didn't end up getting a ticket because I was calm and treated him with compassion and respect.

Agreed. Any time I needed to leave my pistols in our vehicle... It's in a locked vehicle, in a locked console, in an actual lock box. Any time I had to use this... Was in either secured federal premises, or secured court parking lots so nobody was going to grab anything on the sly. Well said brother.

I'm a revolver guy, so on long roadtrips I'll have my snubby in my pocket and my 6" in an over the shoulder fanny pack laid over to the side in my truck. I'll leave it in the vehicle for quick stops and short periods of time. If I get hotel or something, it comes with me.

Your vehicle is not a holster. If you NEED to leave a gun in your car, have a handgun safe. But don't do it if you don't have to. Good stuff Matt. The "always talking about guns, encyclopedia in your head" thing is me. I have watched tons of videos from you and most other gun guys so I know more than the average person, despite not having real world military or any experience like that. Definitely annoyed friends and family with that before lol.

No having a gun in your vehicle is not carrying a gun! I may have a second gun in a bailout bag and I also have a 1911, or a Glock 19 on my body, 3 or 4 o'clock position! I also carry one reload with the Glock and 2 reloads for the 1911!! I do use Bravo Concealment for the 1911 and I carry the Glock in a Desantis leather Holster! The dreamer, alien is a hope crap only happens when I am in my vehicle and all other times safe! Some believe what some say Cops are to protect us, I am a retired Cop and know in the 5 minutes or up to 2 hours will not help you! Actually worked for a School Safety and Security Armed Officer and the whole squad responded to a man with a gun on campus and it took Law Enforcement 1 1/2 hour to respond to our call for help! They (Cops) are good but your call may not be priority to the Department that responds!! God Bless Brother and stay armed and stay safe!

Amen brother. I've been saying same thing to people. Imagine catching someone breaking in your car and getting shot with your own gun... Bottom line, if you don't have it in your hand when you need it, well... you don't really have it.
