Dam, what a sad world... Doug was a hall of fame QB that no one wanted.
    Madness.

We had a lot of fun watching Doug play in the CFL! He came along soon after Warren Moon left us for his shot at NFL (where he had previously been 'too black' to play QB!? - Moon remains the only black QB in the NFL Hall of Fame? That's crazy.) At any rate, this Canadian CFL fan is always happy to watch the NFL 'oversights' play great football in the 3-Down game.

Yep, we loved him in BC. He played here first before heading to Calgary and Toronto. Glad he went out in a splash down south eventually.

Ditka was smart to bring Flutie in and made a huge mistake in developing him. He should have been groomed as a starter over a few years. Threw him into the fire too early.
As you can see from these highlights he showed promise immediately. Especially the Dallas game

He's small in person, it's amazing he was out there with athletic freaks. Met him in Melbourne at a few golf courses

He would have been a perfect fit in today's NFL!

This is the NFL dammit! A quarterback must be nine feet seven inches tall and must never NEVER leave the pocket.

I was happy when Flutie came to the Bears. I don't care what anyone says, Flutie was a great college quarterback and a very good NFL quarterback.

It’s a shame the NFL didn’t give him a chance, and then even worse in my opinion….and many others… after putting the Bills on his back and dragging them into the playoffs, they bench him and lose the playoff game that they would have never been in if not for Flutie.
As a Saskatchewan Roughriders fan, I always wished he was on our team…he was one of the best QBs that EVER played in the CFL

NFL just never wanted him to succeed. He went to the CFL and dominated where his talents were recognized. The Bills and Wade Phillips stabbed him in the back! I was a Flutie fan and wanted him to find a place in the NFL. Tim Tebow was treated the same years later.

Mike Ditka is such a joke. instead of developing Doug Flutie, he decided to go with Mike Tomack and Jim Harbaugh, who turned out to be one of the worst quarterbacks ever in bears history
