Doug Flutie was my hero. Not because of his size, it’s because the longevity of playing professional football with 3 different leagues like USFL, CFL and the NFL. He was a great pocket passer who holds a record for most passing yards in a single-season in the CFL with 6,619. How impressive is that? It’s unheard of for a quarterback in his caliber. He stood 5 foot 9, 180 pound quarterback who played with a lot of heart. He had won a Heisman Trophy at Boston College for his trademark play “Hail Mary”. He also was a dual-threat quarterback who can run the ball with his legs. He is an once-in-a-lifetime type of quarterback who can play the position with a lot of confidence and competitiveness. I admire that about him since he was playing with the Buffalo Bills.
@@DahnoDookohTeams didn’t want a 5-9 quarterback on their team. I felt the GMs were buttholes back then. Doug did have the skills to be the shortest quarterback that ever played the position
The Miami pass is a true lazer, no wobble through the rain the wind, close to fifty yards in the air,,,truly Amazing, watch it again this time just focus on the pass itself.
One of my favorite quarterbacks growing up, I’ve always rooted for the underdogs growing up, I use to pick him on Madden wen he played for the Bills 💪🏿🔥 .
Three seasons in Buffalo and the guy has the highest winning record for starting QBs in Bills history at 0.700 - including higher than Jim Kelly's record - and they decide to bench him in favor of Robosack who had a 0.444 record with the Bills. Insane.
The running dialogue on the video .... the #BothSides of it ... utterly HILARIOUS. "... Doug Flutie went to the CFL for 37 YEARS ... then came back + showed that he could lead a team into the Playoffs ..."
I still think starting Rob Johnson over Doug Flutie was a huge mistake. He was fun to watch and knew how to win. I would get so mad to see him get benched and lose the game. So what if he wasn't the prototypical size QB, the guy could play. Still mad.
My favorite QB not just because we are the same size. 1999 VS Jets ,,the block he put on mlb Mo Lewis was priceless. "The smallest guy on the team ,has the biggest heart. GO BILLS
If Flutie were born in 1982 instead of 1962 he 100% would be a Pro Bowler and maybe even a Super Bowl winner. Drafted by the Cardinals or wtv in 2003 with Fitz and Boldin or 2004 with the Vikings, idk.
I am about to do a Madden 23 Franchise where Flutie is REBORN and will debut for the 2022 Houston Texans. Records beware...the man has 99 JMP and 99 Spin move
Love Flutie, but this video was chaotic. None of the video was relevant to the commentary, what was shown wasn’t the stuff that was being commented on. Just could have been edited better.
Yeah in retrospect it could've been. I have gotten better over the years and I learned as I went. Maybe someday I'll comeback and re-do this video for Flutie.
Yeah I agree there are some videos of mine that I don't watch for this reason. It was fine for me at the time but now is kinda jarring and awkward to watch back. I'll have to go back and do some videos over again like this one.
Get so tired of having arguments with people who say he couldn't play in the NFL. So what your saying is you don't want to win? You want to win 6 to 7 games out of 10?
The story would've been Flutie returned to the NFL and wins the Super Bowl. To bad Ralph Wilson shut that down. Wade Phillips had no balls to stand up to him. That whole period of time makes me sick.
Yeah for now Jim Jelly is the best QB in Bills history depending on how Josh Allen's career unfolds. Jim Jelly would've been even better with Peanut Tillman Butter lol.
The Chicago Bears could have won a Superbowl , but Chicago hasn't won a Superbowl since they beat the Patriots, because the other Chicago Bears players whined , and complained about Flutie instead of carrying themselves as professionals!
Doug Flutie was a winner at ALL levels. He should have played his entire career in the NFL!

He was back and forth alot. God I miss his skills.

Man Flutie could really sling it! He was quick with his legs too. A legend. Fun QB to watch.
It would have been nice to show more highlights from his CFL days. A true hall of famer!
Doug is prime example you don't need size, just heart and hard work.
Just like SBIV.
Tell my ex that.
The Miami pass is a true lazer, no wobble through the rain the wind, close to fifty yards in the air,,,truly Amazing, watch it again this time just focus on the pass itself.
He's a genuine guy as well

Including Josh Allen?
I'm a lifelong Bills fan and Doug Flutie truther, thanks for the validation.
Wade Phillips was an asshole to bench Flutie and it cost us a championship.
@Fasheem it was ralph wilson that made the call
@Shadow31999 oh ok.... then that goes to him! Lol
One of the best qb's ever.
The best body mechanics in the business.
Dear Mr. Flutie, thank you for all you did for Boston College.
Flutie the Legend!
The running dialogue on the video .... the #BothSides of it ... utterly HILARIOUS. "... Doug Flutie went to the CFL for 37 YEARS ... then came back + showed that he could lead a team into the Playoffs ..."
No sync between the audio and the visuals. Still fun to watch Flutie do his thing.
I still think starting Rob Johnson over Doug Flutie was a huge mistake. He was fun to watch and knew how to win. I would get so mad to see him get benched and lose the game. So what if he wasn't the prototypical size QB, the guy could play. Still mad.
I think Wade Phillips said the same thing in retrospect that Flutie would've found a way to beat the Titans in the 1999 playoffs.
The narrator sounds like a jerk.
Doug Flutie; NFL's Audie Murphy.
Spot On analogy! 👌
A True Champ!

Flutie Flakes ya baby
We didn't see him in his prime in the NFL and he was still this good without ever getting a consistent shot.
Flutie went to high school in Natick, MA, a suburb of Boston. There is the Natick Mall, which has a short street in it called Flutie Pass.

But he is in the NFL now…he’s Brock Purdy
Yep! You better believe it. He was Josh Allen before Josh Allen. Duke Wilson 14
Too bad Flutie didn't have the arm strength that Josh Allen and the fact that he's 7 inches shorter....
@@dukewilson14 I'm confused. You uploaded this video but don't see that Flutie had PLENTY of arm strength and perfect deep ball....
@@1201zj Probably the same reason he can't sync the audio.
Loved the little magician
Better than Kyler, Lamar, RG and any of thr other "modern " QB's. Would tear up this pass happy league now.
He's Kyler but slower with better decision making. Let's not get ahead of ourselves on Lamar tho lol
Convention damns the NFL, era after era.
Looks at Doug Flutie: That dude is short, is this a joke?
Watches Doug Flutie throw: Yo that dude has a f***ing CANNON!
The strongest Forearms 💯
Great guy!

If he played now he’d be pretty good
Tom cruise shouldve played him in a movie
I'm because of LA beast
I’d take Flutie over Kelly anytime. My favorite Bills quarterback and the Bills. screwed Flutie.
In SF we have Brock Purdy! Sorry Trey Lance!
How is that relevant?
Bryce young?
Nigga no, kyler Murray ….why y’all be acting dumb?
Do I hear steve-o?

@@dukewilson14 I probably shouldn't have criticized, I've never posted, much less edited a video for RUclips.
This kind of criticism is good though; you were respectful. Some people can be jerks about it for no good reason.
bryce young needs to take notes on the short kings of the past
How about matching the videos with the play calls? Otherwise, nice tribute to one of the greatest, most underappreciated players in NFL history.

Wilson kicking himself all the way to his grave? he shudda bc he threw away a shot at a SB
What Johnny manziel wish he could be
I think Manziel was the 99 cent version of Brett Favre lol without the arm strength.
The video doesn't match the sound
Doug was a really good qb, but I’d rather Jim jelly
Yeah for now Jim Jelly is the best QB in Bills history depending on how Josh Allen's career unfolds. Jim Jelly would've been even better with Peanut Tillman Butter lol.
my dream team: 1 Jim Brown, RB, 2 Doug Flutie, QB, 3 Bob Hayes, WR ... (so far)

Complete nitwits commenting in this video.
A lot of the comments by other players are idiotic!
