Best CFL player ever, with apologies to the revered and adored Warren Moon. He was fun to watch in the Labour Day classics against my beloved Eskimos. He was tailored made for the CFL. Bigger, wider field, lots of passing and scrambling and all kinds of pre-snap motion. I don't think he ever had more fun playing football than when he dominated the league with Calgary and Toronto.

I started to follow the Bills directly because of Doug Flutie. To this day, my favourite past player who won on pure smarts, overall athleticism and a heart of a lion. I followed him in College and then saw the initial debacle in the NFL as they had no idea what to do with him. He came up to Canada and I watched him in the CFL, the first year with BC was a learning experience, but he got back his confidence and just owned the league for years to come. Cementing my thoughts. And to see him go to Buffalo in 98, the absolute most underdog story of all professional football just made me smile. In the current NFL, he'd thrive. Thrive. He was so ahead of his time of not being the then immobile prototypical NFL quarterback, but the current prototypical NFL mobile QB.

  • @PeekaPeep

LOVED Flutie's game back when he was putting the CFL on the map (3 Gray Cups, baby 😁👍!!!). Only thing that was gonna stop him from getting the Bills to the Superbowl (and most likely winning it, too) that pivotal 1999 season was none other than late Bills owner Ralph Wilson, who infamously ordered then-head coach Wade Phillips to BENCH Flutie in favor of notorious underperformer "Robo-Sack" Johnson 🤨!?!?!? That move alone not only caused the Bills to get knocked out of the playoffs in the most shameful manner that year, but it also led to 17 straight seasons of losing that was pretty much linked to THAT one moment 😮‍💨! Flutie certainly deserved better, that's for darn sure. In another parallel universe, he'd already have a few Superbowl rings and his place firmly secured in the NFL Hall of Fame. Natural leader, high in-game IQ, and most of all: A PROVEN WINNER!!!
    😉
