Where are you from? We have puppy mills in PA. Can't figure out why they aren't outlawed. If you look at adoption sites, a lot of the dogs are Poodle mixes. People buy them from puppy mills and then give them up!

With any animal that freezes up, try to buddy them with another animal. Doesn’t always even have to be same species, although that would help in this case with isolation fear. She is a beautiful girl and blessed to be rescued by you.❤️

What I've seen that really helps dogs like this is to have another dog to accompany the dog so it shows them "how to dog" and that its not scary - especially for the walks which looks quite traumatic for this little pooch.

I'm touched so deeply by Murphy's story. Gotta say, that boyfriend is a keeper.
I also have a puppy mill survivor who was severely abused she was deathly afraid of my hubby because men ran the mill and they hurt her she was alot like Murphy didn't know what grass was wouldn't walk on a leash she would eat her poop & lick her urine because they didn't feed her everyday at the mill. It took alot of patience & TLC & I thank God for my puggle Brandy because Misty would watch & follow her & omg how they love each other. She loves my hubby but she is definitely my shadow & so is Brandy. Misty made our family complete. Don't ever give up on a puppy mill survivor they're so worth to love

There out to be a law against puppy mills! There are thousands of pets needing a home and all they need is a decent person to be with them. It's heart breaking to see animals see animals mistreated or abandoned.

Bless your heart for loving Murphy!. I have taken in 3 different dogs that were all abused. I have a Labrador that was the same way as Murphy, she had been tied her whole life, did not know how to walk or even knew what a toy was., but after lots of love and care she became the most lovable and most caring baby I ever had. If anyone ever gets the chance to help a neglected animal you will never regret it. They show you every day how much they love and appreciate you, more over than some humans! The love is unbelievable!!
I had a puppy mill dog, so this all looks too familiar. In time, he learned to trust, but it was quite a journey to get there. Murphy’s adorable and so are you two!
Same. Our rescue labradoodle was used as a stud and he was so terrified and physically a mess when we got him. He literally couldn't even sit because his hips were so messed up from being in a too-small kennel. He learned to feel safe (except for sudden loud noises, he never got over that fear) but it took a ton of time and work and love. People who run puppy mills are monsters.
Same. Rescued a puppy mill dog when he was about 1.5 years old. He had skin sore, fleas, was terrified of everything but was always sweet. He’s my Velcro pup. Always at my side. The best dog ever. He’s 15 now and slowing down. We adore him. And despise puppy mills.

The doodle craze is a puppy mills dream. A half breed that everyone wants due to the cuteness of the mix and the price they can get for them. The ones that suffer this greed are the dogs. My heart breaks for these pups.
Yeah and the saddest part is when this doodle craze is over it'll just be replaced with something else.

There is a certain way that dogs lick they're lips to show you they feel so loved & nurtured. If they like their heads scratched, once you scratch it, they gently lick their lips with the softest and gentle eyes❤You guys definitely found that "head scratch" in Murphy that makes her smile. It was definitely the boyfriend's rubs😂❤❤

And what happened to the POS who was running the puppy mill? Anything? Thinking what these wonderful beings go through makes my stomach hurt. This is what you support when you buy from breeders, any breeders. I don't want to hear about "good breeders". The industry as a whole makes these animals a commodity and with that there will always be abuse/neglect/POS who get away with it.
The Midwest is chockfull of puppy mills. :(
Dogs rescued from mills need to be shaved down right away to check for wounds and other skin problems.
Golden Doodles are a terrible mix! The man who came up with them for a friend of his has since regretted it.

I also adopted puppy mill girl. Only about 1 and already bred. I took her home from the adoption and took her to the backyard and set her in the grass.she was hesitant at first and carefully sniffed it then kind of came alive and ran around and rolled in it and was joyously jumping and running with an attitude of amazement and unbelief.I realized that she had probably never been allowed to be. in grass before. I sat there and cried

Puppy mills should be illegal. They use dogs as commodities and there are already great animals in shelters that need homes. No one needs a specialty breed, unless to show off for some superficial reason.

I wish more people were informed and knowledgeable about where their “cute little purebred puppy” comes from.
They say “oh, my dog came from a reputable breeder. She has her papers!” …Or “I got her from a pet store, not a puppy-mill.”
Sorry to inform you but most likely your dog came from a puppy-mill, of sorts. People only think of puppy-mills as one thing… a hundred dogs in tiny cages outside. Well, there’s lots of scenarios where they’re inside a “home” and forced to constantly breed for profit. Also, when people say “I picked my dog up from a nice couple, in a nice home, in a nice neighborhood. *Sigh* Sadly, a lot of times they came from a puppy-mill and were brought to a nice location for you to pick up.
My point is, there are LOTS of ways that these criminals pull the wool over your eyes.
The only way to be 1,000% certain that you’re not actively contributing to a puppy-mill is by adopting/rescuing. 🐾🫶🐶

Neglect and fear and lack of love can lead to a very dark path but i wish we can all see that showing love and affection can lead to great relationships not only to you but everyone around you. Murphy was apparently abused, since she obviously never experienced human kindness. I'm glad to see she'll now have a happy life. Thank you for rescuing her and being so patient. Goldendoodles are very sweet.and affectionate by nature.

I was touched by your story of the Golden Doodle rescue!!
We ALSO rescued A mini golden in May. Charlie! He was also from a farm used fur breeding only by the Amish. Just before we adopted him he had undergone Full shave due to extreme fur matting, vetted & vaccinated and neutered. A week later we met him and took him home. He too would not walk, was frighten by men, his back legs were pitched out with fear. He did not eat or drink. But little by little he too wanted pets and love. He’s gentle smart and a love!!
I shutter if I think too much about his life before he came to us.
He helped heal our hearts after losing our beloved Willie 16 yr old Bichon Poodle. Grateful doesn’t come close to his we feel!!!

I have a same exact story with my sweet Lily! Oh how proud of her I am as well ❤. Puppy mill rescue from the Amish country in PA. We are 4 months in and she is the most amazing sweet girl. Never had walked on a leash, never had done stairs, not house broken and scared of every noise. How dare people treat these amazing creatures like that!!!!! She is the love of our lives and has blossomed into an amazing little girl. She wakes up happy everyday and of course, that makes us beyond HAPPY!
One of my Boston Terriers came from an Amish puppy mill in OH, where he was a stud. Sweetest, best boy ever - and we made sure his life after rescue (after 5 yrs in a cage 🤬) were the best we could possibly give him. Don’t hesitate on older/traumatized dogs. We always adopt older/sick/needy pets. I wouldn’t trade one second of my time with any of them for all the $ in the world.
I’m from Iowa and we have a huge problem with puppy mills and no laws. Back in the mid to late 2000s I wished so much for a doodle. At the time, there was very little breeders even in Iowa. Now, I have my first fur baby and she’s 3 years old and a lab mutt breed. She was a free puppy from a family who had an oops litter before spaying/neutering. I’d never now go looking for a designer hybrid breed that cultivates a huge sale that keeps puppy mills and backyard breeders in business. We constantly have huge supply of dogs taken from these horrible places and scrambling to find homes for them. I know eventually I will rescue every doggy in my future. And keep sharing the dark side of these designer breeds that people keep demanding and find.
When I hear stories about puppy mills it makes me so angry!!!!!!!!! Thank you to every single person who has rescued dogs and puppies from puppy mills!!

I’m watching this in tears - because a little over a year ago we adopted a 7 yr old golden retriever who had been nothing more then a puppy making machine for a MO puppy mill. Our girl Annie feels absolutely safe inside our home and in our yard (now) thanks to our older golden girl who helped her feel that mom and dad will protect her. But to this day, she continues to be absolutely terrified of walks and car rides. Our vet told me, Annie has come so far and if she never goes on a walk - it’s ok, she’s got more in her life then she ever dreamed possible. 🩷
So thank you to Murphy’s people for saving her and giving her the time and space to become the dog she was always meant to be ! Thank you! 🩷

I live in IOWA. It is THE MOST EMBARRASSING aspect of my life. Our STATE government is ABSOLUTELY DESPICABLE because THEY REFUSE to protect these precious souls despite the public wanting that to happen. My daughter adopted a little pug. She would not let my daughter out of her sight. Followed her everywhere. She did not know what to do with toys as she never had any. She loved goung to the beach and on walks and she lived her humans. She was such a wonderful dog. Unfortunate she got lung cancer and had to be put down. We miss her everyday. She was also rescued from a puppy mill. Please people adopt, dont shop.
