    What is the recommended daily dosage? Would it be different between the three types of Niacin?

    Niacin flush is awesome in January in Northern Alaska!! However, it doesn’t last very long at -40 and lower, but can be pretty nice on a -30 day.

    Long time NR user here. I am 50. I feel 40. I can do very hard workouts that I could not do in my 30s. Maybe it is just placebo, but it sure seems to really help me feel more robust.

    What is the mechanism of action of Niacin? Does Niacin reduce inflammation which in turn reduce LDL or does it reduce LDL to reduce inflamation?

  • @Jollyprez
    @Jollyprez 5 лет назад +6

    Taking 2 grams Rugby Niacin - I notice a flush every few days at relatively random times. Usually lasts about a minute. I know it's working, so I don't mind.

    $30 is a no-brainer based on the quality of information in your videos. My doctor had no idea there was the Cardio Risk Test package from Cleveland Heart Labs. Thanks to you I had my test and waiting for results to analyze and monitor. IMO everybody should invest in this!

    Dr. Brewer, have you heard of nicotinamide (NAM) intake and the increase in the incidence of diabetes type 2? Any dosage that might trigger it?

    Looking forward to more on this. I tried Niacin many years ago as it was being talked about amongst body builders and other gym rats (like me) in the 1980s. The flush drove me crazy and interfered with my life too much, so stopped. My younger brother did it as well and tolerated the effects much better (or he was just tough enough). Interestingly he has had a much healthier life overall than all of his family including our parents, and siblings! His lifestyle was not really any different than the rest of us. We are all fitness and health oriented. Makes you wonder...

      it seems that you can tolerate a certain amount before flushing. I try to keep under that amount because otherwise the flushing is terrible. one day I had to take a cold shower to help reduce the redness and skin pain. it usually takes about an hour or two to go away.

    Hi, does nicotinamide(no flush niacin) 500mg is good for improving NAD level?

  • @147DegreesWest

    PS: don’t be embarrassed about making money-$30 is a fair price and it isn’t like I need college credit. It would be nice if it was hooked up with some kind of continuing Ed thing for the PA and MDs, but for an average researcher- that might not be needed.

    Hi Dr. Brewer
    I've seen a report that NMN needs be taken sub-lingual - that NMN in capsules are inactivated by stomach acid. Do you have any opinion or information on that?
    Thank you for these videos. You are right - there should be several million views!

    Dr. Brewer, _any_ form of B3 that doesn't cause flushing will _not_ impact lipids. Niacinamide/nicotinamide prevent and treat pallegra, but have zero impact on lipids.

      Niacinamide does not cause flushing for me and didn't help with my low HDL after taking it for 18 months. When I switched to Nicotinic Acid at 500mgs along with TMG I got the hard flush and within 3 months my HDL went up 40 points. I haven't tried the NR yet but am considering ordering it for the NAD+ boost.

    Good subject yes please compare this against NMN I have personally seen good results with NMN but on the athletic level. I do not know how that turns out longevity wise. I know as you have said losing weight you add time to your lifespan. My BMI is too low to calculate most likely and taking NMN I just saw a better athletic performance and muscle growth just under 2 years into constant use. Btw I would prescribe Fluticasone Propionate 50 mcg one spray 30 mins before your RUclips videos. Gotta manage that inflammation as you say Dr : )

    My NA (Niacinamide), NR, NMN problems... Dosing: can we use more than about 35mg a day? If no, then the excess may burn up methyl groups that are needed for other methylation chores (Homocysteine)? Does NA shut down NAD+ production at high levels? NMN has a phosphor group on it, I understand that that gets taken off in the liver, so why bother? Does NR get across the blood brain barrier better than the others?

    • @PrevMedHealth
      @PrevMedHealth  5 лет назад +1

      Have you read about Betaine or methylated B complex vitamins? Do you think those could help?

    • @machawley
      @machawley 5 лет назад +1

      Thank you for your reply Dr Brewer!
      I use methylated folate & B12 + TMGlycine to manage a homocysteine problem. Dosing of NR is still a problem. Why take 150mg of NR when we can only use 35 mg/day? I'm missing something. Dr David Sinclair is taking 1gr of NMN/day. That makes no sense to me. And he's doing the research.

    I had a terrible experience with Niacin. It wasn’t the flush that bothered me but I felt like I was having a heart attack. My chest tightened and I thought for sure I was going to throw up or pass out. I don’t know if that means I have heart problems but I shouldn’t.

    Niacin was the thing, then Resveratrol was in vogue, followed by nr, then NAD+, NADH, and now NMN. Is it all just marketing?
    Is it beneficial to take them all, a few, or only one ... ?
    Can there be overdose, potentiation, or interdiction when combined ...?
    There's lots of interest, but little comprehensive information in one video.

      @@PrevMedHealth 😁 What's funny is I've been looking into this, buying the supplements, and then I see a video of overdoing it by Chris Masterjohn, who cautions about combinations of niacin with the NR compound burning through the methyls, sans mention of NADH or NMN (if I recall correctly) ... and what again happened with resveratrol???
      We really need someone to tie a nice bow around these lovely gifts of health and longevity.
      You got this!

    Question: Common B3 supplements are - Niacin - Niacinamide and Nicotinic Acid. How do these work or fit into your work? Also there was a pioneer Psychiatrist in Schizophrenia, his name is Dr. Abram Hoffer. Have you seen his work, of course he was poo pooed? He rightly so claimed a cure rate of 70% - yes cured. Let me know about these items if you have the time - Thanks

      I have heard of him and the use of niacin for schizophrenia reversal... it seems like it works best at the early onset of schizophrenia... but it is a disservice to humanity to not give it a try before starting them off on life long dependence on psychotropics. I know someone whose been on those drugs since the eighties... it’s not good. Maybe naicin would not have worked for her, but what if it had? it is sick, negligent and criminal that the conventional pharma goons who pose as doctors, refuse to offer these options first.
