    Another good video Moose. Your's are the best because you talk to us in plain words and never embellish. Easy to understand and saves us a lot of unnecessary or unprofitable steps in recycling.
    Good job. Thanks

    Hi, this was development of my idea. I am glad this little idea despite a lot of criticizes and negative comments, have blossomed into this system. I have to thank guys at the Mt. Baker for their ingenuity.

    Great video, can't wait for the next. I am subbed to MBMMLLC, they have some excellent crushers and they make them in different sizes to suit their customer's needs. I've watched all of his videos, he'll literally crush anything that's sent to him!

      +poosmate SOme people find that noise to be irritating, grating, obscene, I find it rather relaxing..... How messed up is that! Hey, I forgot to ask, you had mentioned in your entry to the 25k sub giveaway that if you won you would like me to make a donation instead? TO where?

    • @poosmate
      @poosmate 9 лет назад

      Moose Scrapper Yeah, I must admit the noise is annoying but I just turn the sound down a bit (well almost completely off). As for the donation, your local Animal Humane Society or if you have a cat or dog sanctuary near to you that would be fine too. Alternatively, if you would find it difficult to put animals before people, how about Guide Dogs for the Blind, or Hearing Dogs for Deaf people? (If you have such charities over there). All the best,
      Poo

    with the black sands , u can put it in a cruciable with borax and melt it then pour it into a cone shaped mold . any gold will be visible at the pointy part once its melted

    Is a low heat melt on your paper weight viable Moose, 600-700 C should pull a good chunk away then cuppell the remainder?

    Great topic moose...I've been panning a lot of black sands and reading about the sands composition and have been finding native platinum and copper sulfides and zinc and calcopyrites anyway one of the books I was reading talks about nitric acid leaches with table Salt as the precipitater.Im no expert my first hydrochloric batch is still unfiltered but loaded with fingers...so basically the black sands are of interest for refining Andi look forward to more videos from you cause you rock

    • @moosescrapper5928

      +area46241 I have been doing more reading at work than working I think.... don't tell my boss..... And with some help from other great refiners like Geo, I suggest EVERYONE check out his channel, I was able to learn that the leach only works if the sands are ground to 200 mesh. So I now need to learn how to do that.

    Have you tried a wire brush wheel or sander to remove the gold from a board? Although dusty, it seems like a transportation/ time saver to give you faster results.

    • @CuriousEarthMan
      @CuriousEarthMan 4 года назад

      I thought the same thin earlier today! lol You could make a shaft of 'bristles' and run the board underneath like a wood planer or jointer (similar) then collect the dust and have that to refine.

    Love your videos Moose. Maybe I'm a pessimist but I find it hard to believe that a mining company whose goal is to make money from gold etc., would provide anything of much value. Maybe they're "true blue" I couldn't say but that classifying table should be able to separate the materials rather well and so would they sell off any material that is really valuable? Also, I have been using Nitric acid, which you can make yourself but concentration it is more difficult, to drop gold from solution. The copper, silver, brass, not sure about aluminum, will be dissolved in Nitric but NOT gold. It will be left at the bottom of the solution as a powder. I usually heat it up a bit to help the reaction. Then I let it cool, filter, and rinse. The solution which is left contains silver, copper, etc. which can then be processed further. Also, the copper nitrate etc. can be decomposed to yield the nitric acid back again. I'm no expert, still learning, but just FYI.

    Despite the lack of actual gold reclaimed from those samples... pretty cool to mess with those samples. Always a great learning process if nothing else right? :)

    • @moosescrapper5928
      @moosescrapper5928  9 лет назад

      +Scappin' Cricket Absolutely, BUT, what it does show is that if you follow the math you will get about 3 ounces of gold per ton of mother boards. So if you were a refiner or larger business like these were designed for, the gold would cover the costs and the rest is profit. Like Jason said in an email, there would be about 500 lbs of copper, then you have silver at 30-50 oz per ton, palladium, aluminum, platinum, etc etc. These numbers are also based on some samples he had assayed.

    • @cricketman7335
      @cricketman7335 9 лет назад

      +Moose Scrapper I was more or less commenting on just the samples that you got in yourself to play with. But I do agree that it is profitable on the larger scale of things for those who may be looking into venturing into crusher & shaker table rigs and all else that goes along with it afterwards. I don't foresee myself doing that in the near future. I will just still to my computer repair n sales business to pay my bills and keep scrappin n processing as a hobby/side money lol. You think you may venture into something like a shaker table or similar in the future?

      +Scappin' Cricket I honestly don't know. My life is a little unsteady right now and will be especially after May of 2016. Our lease is up on the house we live in and the land lord wants to sell it. My wife has asked for a divorce so not sure where I will be, if I will have the room for such a set up etc.

    Thanks for being honest,I did comment on your last video about this company and point you in the right direction.Its not possible to grind a whole mother board into small enough particles to put straight into water separation.You would need to chop or grind the mixture of glass,plastic,ferrous steel,non ferrous steel,solder to a similar size as the gold bonding wires in the chips.The screen would just get blocked ,Just like you showed in your video,its better to cherry pick and process separately

    curious to know if there's gold in the green motherboards etching? I think I seen it was mostly copper, maybe you could do a video with the motherboard completely stripped and ground down maybe even without the solder, I thought of just heating a large plate then setting the bare board on it to scrape off soldier maybe gravity would keep the solder on the plate. 10 or 20 bare boards at once would show some results.thx

    • @moosescrapper5928
      @moosescrapper5928  6 лет назад +1

      Its copper, the only places you will ever see gold etching on a circuit board will be rarely in cell phones, sometimes in military or airplane electronics. Very cost prohibitive to use all gold etching.

    I have been stalking up on gold pins and stuff for a little while and am starting to think about refining it. One question thou. When something is plated, is it always plated in 24k or can like 18k be plated? If so, should I be sorting my gold so the lower k doesn't mess with the higher? What k are the gold nuggets that you refine?

    • @williamela3340
      @williamela3340 9 лет назад

      Most gold foils range from 10-20karats but you will have the worst time sorting it. In fact, I don't think it's possible. Moose has another video on how to refine the gold to turn it into 24k gold. Hope this helped!!!

    • @Altcapball

      +William Ela How exactly would one plate anything other than pure gold with the electrolytic process transferring gold ions? is the electrolyte a mixture to convey other metals at the same time? Strange.

    • @moosescrapper5928
      @moosescrapper5928  9 лет назад

      +Brady Rose Sorting will not save you time or money in the long run as far as by karat plate even if you could figure out how to do it. One of the major hurdles is that any chemical test will quickly dissolve the gold plate and then start on the base metal giving you a false reading. As for the plating process, I have not learned enough about that yet to give info.

    • @Altcapball
      @Altcapball 9 лет назад

      Moose Scrapper I wasn't actually interested in sorting them, but wondering how plating in different grades would even be possible. I've always been under the assumption that electrolytic plating would only be depositing gold ions, so I was surprised and just wondering out-loud how it might be done hoping magic of the internet might materialise a response that might still come.

      +mikaman MV from just one? If you really milked it, maybe $5. The name of the game with pm recovery from electronics is volume. You need to have a lot of volume to make reasonable amounts of pm's

      Moose Scrapper So probably 4-6 motherboards is still not enought... Im just going t sell the full computer with monitor and everything and probably its better.

  • @Altcapball
    @Altcapball 9 лет назад

    use copper sulfate electrolysis of the pyramid to make blister copper, and recover the gold containing sediment, then chemically extract that. You definantly want to be recovering the Copper as it is a sizeable portion of the economic value of the board. Really you need a series of chemical / electrolytic processes.
    Don't handle that stuff with your bare hands. Cadmium could be an issue.

    Hey moose I work in a gold mining town or small city and they have what is known as a roaster for high sulphides and from what I have heard through the grape vine is it is heated or roasted to about 600 degrees Celsius and then they can do the magic bit with acids and crap which I have no idea on as that is secret squirrel stuff. Ps excellent info from ya vids brud keep it up

    • @moosescrapper5928
      @moosescrapper5928  8 лет назад

      +odenkiller I'm all set getting the flour gold out, its the gold that is encapsulated in the sulphides that's the problem. I need to find a fairly easy way to mill the sands down to 200 mesh.

    • @odenkiller
      @odenkiller 8 лет назад

      get a small sluice box & run it slowly threw it , you will get some of the smaller flour from it ,, then when the sand is wet lay it out across a non metal pan to let it dry on then with a plastic bag with a Earth Mag on it slowly run across the sand when it is dry .. you may redo this step a few times .. then if you can make a shaker box run it across it a few times ...
