"Jolka, Jolka" is nota some song. It's the kind of anthem of a generation of Poles and the tough and cruel time of the war state in Poland, with military patrols and tanks on the streets. Those were the years when we used to live in a "big basin" of our small matters and did not try to go out of this safe place. The fairy vodka danced inside us and the end was very close... We know about it, BUT! The times were bad, but we were young and the world was beautiful, women were beautiful and we wanted to live!

Budka Suflera is one of the bands that made the history of the rock music in Poland and “Jolka, Jolka” (pronounced ‘yohl-kah’) is one of the rock anthems that marked the young days of my generation. What amazes me is the fact that the crowd singing along is made of kids that were not even planned to be born in 1982 when this song was hitting the top of every single chart in Poland. This means that today’s young guys are not yet completely lost and get a flash of good taste now and then. If you want to feel the spirit of the time, I suggest that you also check “Za ostatni grosz”, “Cały mój zgiełk”, “Noc komety” (all by Budka Suflera), “Autobiografia”, “Nie płacz, Ewka”, “Chcemy być sobą” and “Niewiele ci mogę dać” by Perfect, „Szał niebieskich ciał”, “Szare miraże”, “Krakowski spleen” and “Boskie Buenos” by Maanam, “Mniej niż zero” and “Tańcz, głupia, tańcz” by Lady Pank, „Biała flaga” by Republika, "Szklana pogoda" by Lombard"… These are just a few samples of what I and my peers were listening to every day 40 years ago. And even though the time was politically and economically hard for us, this music is the reason why I do miss it.
Mate, you need to see Swedish music band called Sabaton playing song 40:1 on Woodstock/Polandrock festival. Wait until polish fans make "flag" performance. It's amazing!! Also, I'm currently 35yo and travel across my country to Woodstock festivals for about 17 years, I regret nothing. I see there musicans from all around the world, and genres from heavy metal to rock, electronic and also classical music and even an folk bands! Crazy! Cheers from poland and keep making you'r videos. They are great!
few facts: 1. Young guy on guitar and young vocalist are sons of the guy in sunglasses (Krzysztof Cugowski). 2. Felicjan Andrzejczak (main vocal in this song) is about 150cm high and has such a powerfull vocal. 3. Budka Suflera had few vocalists but mainly Krzysztof Cugowski (guy in sunglasses). 4. One of their songs is cover of Ain't no sunshine and it's really goooood!
First heard this band when I was working in Poland in 1982 (martial law). They were big then, now they are iconic. Krysztof Cugowski has one of the greatest voices in rock music. And he is still going in his 70s.
This is one of the greatest and most legendary polish rock classics, dating/going back to commie time. Which makes it even a greater hit. Man, it really brings back memmories...
Amazing performance. You should see Lady Pank - Kryzysowa narzeczona from Poland Rock Festival 2023 too. Budka Suflera and Lady Pank are two the best bands in Poland.
It's great that you took this song as a theme for the film because it is a timeless song for most Poles I am currently 37 years old and I have known this song since birth my parents sang it and people will continue to sing it as an anthem Especially as you can see in the film at such festivals. It just so happens that the performer of this timeless song died this year
Not a Polish band but I think you might enjoy checking Sabaton's "Warsaw Uprising" and "40:1" - songs about events in Poland during WWII. The energy from concert in Woodstock 2012 is incredible!
I can't wait to see every next video published by you. Your positive energy, respect to other cultures and showing real emotions and involvement while watching those videos, amazing! I almost feel like knowing you since ages:) but in general it's how scottish people are:) greetings
Budka Suflera is a great band from my beautiful hometown Lublin. One of the old crew members was my neighbour. When „Jolka Jolka” was realised I was 11 years old. I like a lot of their songs, but my Spanish husband appreciates “Dmuchawce latawce wiatr” the most.
They have ALWAYS been good - Budka has played in Carnegie Hall in New York City And regarding the TRUE virtuoso - listen to the KEYBOARD - Lipko was the best🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
If you like rock there is more polish rock bands worth to check: Dżem, Kult, Lady Pank, Perfect, Hey, T.Love, Myslovitz, Oddział Zamknięty. Some of their first albums are almost twice older than me but imho the oldest albums are the best. Cheers

These songs united generations. Generations of our parents and grandparents under the Russian occupation and subsequent modern generations. They all know them. They are timeless
It is the anthem of a whole generation… maybe more than one ;) And - yes Poland has amazing music. Once - we had nothing, but had us, hope and our music that carried us through! With love to Scottland
As an interesting fact, it should be added that the man who sings here is a guest - he was in this band for quite a short time and recorded only 3 songs with them. They all became total classics.
Felicjan Andrzejczak played with Bud Sufler's group for one year, 1982/1983. He sang songs such as: Jolka, Jolka Remember, Night of the Comet, Time of Lead. Since 1983, he is the only one singing the song Jolka, Jolka remember you as a special guest. He is admired by all generations in Poland.
Great song, The first time i herad it when I was teenager in the very early 80's. Was the number one on the most popular Polish top list. Of course I know lyrics very well and sings it time to time.

He was singing here with his son, who also is a rock star now. The drummer comes form my home town. And yes this song is an anthem to Poles, we love it! 😊

Toż to Purposz
First heard this band when I was working in Poland in 1982 (martial law). They were big then, now they are iconic. Krysztof Cugowski has one of the greatest voices in rock music. And he is still going in his 70s.
I was there, and that was one of the most awesome moments of my life. For that we lived for.
This is one of the greatest and most legendary polish rock classics, dating/going back to commie time. Which makes it even a greater hit. Man, it really brings back memmories...
I've been there! Incredible experience. It may be the best show I've ever been.
it is fun watching you enjoying the concert ! :)
Kocham polskiego rocka. Był najlepszy na świecie. ❤
I jest.
Amazing performance. You should see Lady Pank - Kryzysowa narzeczona from Poland Rock Festival 2023 too. Budka Suflera and Lady Pank are two the best bands in Poland.
the crowd at the end was shouting "dziękujemy" means "we thank you"
Dziękujemy - thank you
Thank you for your film ❤ It's so amazing.
Dziekuje za twój filmik. ❤
Read like Yolka. Jolka is a diminutive from Jolanta (read like Yolantah), a female name. 😊
Jolka [Yolka] is short for Jolanta - female's name and the song is about a real love affair
Yep that is an anthem, love the story and lyric voice of Felicjan Andrzejczak
THIS WILL BLOW YOUR MIND :))) Męskie Granie 2019: Bass Astral x Igo + Krzysztof Zalewski - Would
Budka Suflera - Jest Taki Samotny Dom (Woodstock 2014) Is The best!!!
It's great that you took this song as a theme for the film because it is a timeless song for most Poles I am currently 37 years old and I have known this song since birth my parents sang it and people will continue to sing it as an anthem Especially as you can see in the film at such festivals. It just so happens that the performer of this timeless song died this year
Thanks for nice reaction!
You can look at:
Polish Metal Alliance-stars (Hear N' Aid cover)
Not a Polish band but I think you might enjoy checking Sabaton's "Warsaw Uprising" and "40:1" - songs about events in Poland during WWII. The energy from concert in Woodstock 2012 is incredible!
I support.👍
Yes! you should definitely watch Sabaton 😁
Yes!!!
I second this!
Up!
Fun fact, in 2014 this song was 32 years old so it was older than about 95% of the audience 😉
I was there! On that gig was around 900k ppl
I like a lot of their songs, but my Spanish husband appreciates “Dmuchawce latawce wiatr” the most.
legendary song
Budka Suflera amaizing ❤ but you must have listen Polish Metal Alliance as well they are great to
I saw it by my own eyes, what a lucky Man ❤️
Budka Suflera najlepsza zespół z Lublina Pozdrawiam z lubelszczyzny
They have ALWAYS been good - Budka has played in Carnegie Hall in New York City
And regarding the TRUE virtuoso - listen to the KEYBOARD - Lipko was the best🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
If you like rock there is more polish rock bands worth to check: Dżem, Kult, Lady Pank, Perfect, Hey, T.Love, Myslovitz, Oddział Zamknięty.
Some of their first albums are almost twice older than me but imho the oldest albums are the best. Cheers

Don’t forget Maanam
Wszyscy zapomnieli o Breakout? Jeden z pierwszych legendarnych zespolow rockowych w Polsce❣️
Ach Jolka Jolka! Cudo❤
Butka suwlera to legenda !!!!
It is not he who leads the crowd. It is we who surrender to him. For me this is one of our three most beautiful songs.
You steped into rabbit hole with this one. It has so many meanings that only poles can understand it really.
Byłem tam z rodzicami. Niezapomniane wrażenia! Budka Suflera i pan Felicjan dali wspaniały popis. Ponadczasowa muzyka i wybitni wykonawcy łączący pokolenia.
Dziękuję. Scotland zawsze jest wspaniala
That's the cool thing. You can be old, young, doesn't matter really. You KNOW this song.
Jolka is the name of a girl and is pronounced: Yolka. Thank you for reviewing this performance.
Yes, I've been there in this crowd!
Great song, The first time i herad it when I was teenager in the very early 80's. Was the number one on the most popular Polish top list. Of course I know lyrics very well and sings it time to time.
Woodstock
I've been there three times. the craziest and most beautiful place in the world. you can be yourself there 150% and as long as you don't hurt others, do whatever you want
Hi, I just found your channel, thank you, it is amazing:) That is really a legendary group, the name of the group can be translated as: "Promt corner" or "prompt box"
Music is great but lyrics make everythign even better, believie me!
To jest POLSKA . PATRIOTYZM , WIARA W BOGA , IDEALY , TEN ZESPÓŁ TO JEST NASZA KOLEBKA TEGO WSZYSTKIEGO!
Poland its like Hobbiton from lord of rings. we love tradition family and keep that what your parents learn you.
Beautiful song about a love🇵🇱 Dziękuję Panie Cejrowski! ❤
by the way, thank you for picking up my recommendation 😉
Thx ❤
He was singing here with his son, who also is a rock star now. The drummer comes form my home town. And yes this song is an anthem to Poles, we love it! 😊
You need to know this song is like an anthem of late hours of every dance party, when everything slows down and gets nostalgic. Yeah, great song, great vocal of Felicjan Andrzejczak, great lyrics.
I have been there... This kind of music can touch your soul ❤❤
For me the best song of "Budka Suflera" band was their first ballade "Cień Wielkiej Góry" (Shadow of a Grand Mountain". Please listen to.
