As a long term Fate and Warriors fan, I can safely say that I can agree with everything you said. Fate/Extella had a phenomenal story, but unpolished gameplay from it being their first attempt. It was good, but with need for improvement. Fate/Extella Link has a really weak, even forgettable story, but the gameplay was outright perfect for me. Every character was so much fun to play with and the active skills gave yourself the option of customization. I love both for their strong points, but if I am playing through one of these again, I'd always play through Link. My hopes for the next Extella is for them to merge the best parts: The great way of telling an engaging story from the first and the near perfect gameplay of the second. And those who know Fate and Fate Grand Order know that there are a huge mass Servants available for candiates as new warriors: Atalanta, Caenis, Leonidas, Sasaki Kojiro, Miyamoto Musashi, Mordred, Enkidu. The candidates have increased massively over the years. If the cards are played right, the third game could become a new standard, offering a compelling story, a huge roster and great gameplay.
@@Oggre No offense but I don't have time to play the multiple Warriors games I already have (one coming November btw) much less two similar games of the same series, to completion. I remember moving to Pirate Warriors 2 and being confused how it had nothing to do with the first game for a little bit. I think I've started to accept that as a Musou formula from any company...
One thing I wish you touched on more is how this game streamlines the Musou formula compared to KT's own work. Gameplay-wise, I really like how almost all traversible territory is controlled by either you or the enemy, with the paths between them being those pneumatic tube chute things. It really cuts down on empty, boring space. I like how enemies just spawn infinitely in enemy territories, instead of coming from specific entrance points in periodic bursts. This combined with the fact that all territories have guardians you can avoid taking out to rack up more KOs makes it really easy to get scores into the tens of thousands, it's rad! Outside of the main gameplay has been streamlined, too. It's much easier to tell before going into a battle how well my character will do. For comparison, in KT's games there's this constant overabundance of factors influencing this: character level which affects their stats, their weapon and whatever skills it has on it, equipables/coins/Gundam parts/blueprints that _further_ influence your characters stats, the difficulty rating of the stage you picked, the _seperate_ difficulty level you're allow to choose-- it's too much. I heard FEWarriors has a reccommended level system in it, so KT might be headed in the right direction, but having only played Fate Extella Link, I can say for certain it does this much better than most of KT's games. You have your character level and you have the stage's recommended level (which changes based on which difficulty is chosen), with the only other factor being your install skills. Even with a solid install skill setup, taking on a stage 5-10 levels higher than your character will lead to taking more damage and dealing less. It's very easy to understand, and most importantly, it's fairly easy to set up a manageable level of challenge for myself when I want it. Now if only they'd introduce a way to _reduce_ my characters level in the same way I can raise it and I'll be happy.
Thanks for the interesting comment, you make some great points. Also, concerning the last part, did you know that you actually can reduce your characters' levels in FE Warriors? After like a year, decided to go back to the first game and look into the price of this game with dlcs included....and what is this? And even ignoring that because most of the dlc is just visual stuff, it feels sad to hear that the story kinda sucks in comparison to what came before.
Did you end up getting it? I'm thinking about it but I have the same road block you seemed to: the characters look like someone vomited Pure Anime onto a canvas. But many new elements to musou gameplay? I'm really intrigued.
@@windup13ird60 I got it and I enjoyed it. I skipped all the dialogs and I found plenty of characters that I liked to play, so the art style is still there but I managed to ignore it. The game is good, combat is enjoyable and frantic, but some of the new ideas aren't as well-executed, like having to mash a button to deal more damage, or to defend yourself or active skills being a bit too powerful. It also doesn't have much to do. Aside from the Story, the extra mode is a list of missions, and the last one's recommended level is 150. I'm not grinding to that point. Dang, why does the best Warriors gameplay have to come from a Fate game? To each their own, but I seem to have this instinctive dislike towards what I see of it. I like a lot of anime, but the designs here look so overdone and incoherent. I may look into it because I'm intrigued by a musou game that expands a lot on the gameplay (recently bought DW8 after an absence in the genre since DW5 vanilla), so I really appreciate this review!

Question: could you possibly explain what it is about the first game's story that you found so compelling? You see, when I opened this video to hear you first say that this game was the best musou game, but one of its only flaws is that its story is lacking compared to the first one have an excellent story, I was taken aback, because the story in the first was quite bad. I hadn't watched the previous video, but now I had to, so I paused this one to watch it, and in that video you mostly gloss over the story to talk about your gripes with the gameplay. TL;DR I'm curious as to what you liked beyond what you reference here with how Extella 1 was "clever" and "kept you blind to its twists and turns" which can't be all you cared about
Sorry if I was too vague there, I was attempting to not spoil anything. In a nutshell, I really enjoyed how the first game played with multiple endings and linked them into a whole. When I was playing Nero and Tamamo's sections I was trying to piece together in my head how these two stories could fit, then realized going into Altera's story that we were in a digital version of a self-correcting multiverse. The opening to Altera's story was where I became hooked on to see where they were going with this, and the way the final part of the story utilized this to create a self-aware Praetor who could link the Servants with the Titan was satisfying. On top of this structure which I found clever, I thought the candid dialogue, although a bit weeby ngl, was entertaining and self-aware enough to keep me reading and seeking out further character interactions.
@@warriorsdojo6044 Fair enough, those were certainly interesting aspects of it (even if they don't amount to anything due to the need to make sure Nero was the one who did the heavy lifting) (I don't blame you if your brain blocked out Nero Venus, i try to forget it myself)
@@warriorsdojo6044 ahh if only there's a tamamo end too... I like nero as a character but the cast around her tends to end up being wall flowers(same happened in fgo)... In tamamo's route the generals have more individuality and tamamo herself is a fun roller coaster ride
I still don't exactly understand how extella is a bad story to people. But hey, I am also the guy who thinks stiff like kaleid season4 and UBW suck and other people like it, so I guess just nobody knows what is good and what is bad at the end of the day.
I'll check it out if it's on sale, but I wish the art style wasn't so anime. Edit: to be clear, it's not that I think anime is intrinsically bad, but the character design looks generic and uninspired. It's like the thought process of the character design begins and ends with, "make it look like anime".

@@warriorsdojo6044 Fair enough, those were certainly interesting aspects of it (even if they don't amount to anything due to the need to make sure Nero was the one who did the heavy lifting)
(I don't blame you if your brain blocked out Nero Venus, i try to forget it myself)
@@warriorsdojo6044 what about that other comment from two months ago
9:33 gross, otherwise great review
NO GOD ! PLEASE NO! NOOOOOO
i can't get over how ugly this game is honestly. i couldn't pick it up.
I'll check it out if it's on sale, but I wish the art style wasn't so anime.
Edit: to be clear, it's not that I think anime is intrinsically bad, but the character design looks generic and uninspired. It's like the thought process of the character design begins and ends with, "make it look like anime".
GiantButterKnife Fate literally started off as a japanese visual novel and has like 20 animes’
Excuse me, what are you snorting? This series have been anime ever since forever. Hell, it's origin is from a hentai visual novel.
you all so full of crap dude... this game is shockingly poor ( from graphics. jittery on PC, boob physics spazzes out, no FOV slider no Graphical sliders even to turn off some of the effects... story is a downer and gameplay is pretty much the same as in Dynasty warriors! When the enemy attacks you you ARE STUNLOCKED. No bloody counters until enemy finishes the combo lol )
I was looking for a honest comment because the enemies looked off to me like no impact mowing on grass is that true can I get some kind of enjoyment out of the combat?
3:08 I am 3 years late but bruh
the evil archimedes was from a different universe that was the whole plot of the previous game that he keeps traveling and than in the fourth universe he died
which means the archimedes of said 4th universe is still alive because the 1 we met and died in the previous game was from a different universe
there is no mental gymnastics
just remembering the plot of the previous game
Does this game plays well on a keyboard and mouse? I'm thinking of buying it on Steam
@@akiradkcn idk I playd on PC
but the controls are pretty easy and nothing complicated so I think it will play really well on computers
@@adam-dn3hi thank you bro
@@akiradkcn no problom bro
