I just got into dental school and idk what for, my aim was medicine and to eventually become a neurosurgeon but life didn't allow me so im just going with the flow

Mike Wazowski Gaming surgeries are awesome. Implants, Bone grafts, also making veneers and cosmetic work is fun when you get to change peoples smile it’s a good feeling

Loans unfortunately 😪 basically everyone in dental school is on loans since we’re not allowed to work on top of it!

Sarah Wagner I think all dental schools post this! But in state is $45k and out of state I want to say 75? It’s a lot 😩 but all dental schools are really. I don’t know if we’re technically not allowed to work all years but it’s strongly discouraged and at least not allowed the first year

Anastasia Stamatis you honestly can’t work. It’s too much. Just take the loans out and deal with it later. Just be smart after dental school live cheap for a few years and you’ll be fine when you’re 10-15 years through then it’ll be a breeze!

Thank you sooooo much for motivating me. Since my school started, I was outta my mind and I also have tons of stuff to study and so much school work to do (I'm in dietetics program so learning a bunch of orgo biochem etc, things are tough since I'm dealing them with my second language😭) feeling pretty discouraged in working out lately but as soon as I watched your busy schedule, I'm like Ok, she goes to dental school still works out and films RUclips video, she can do it so why can't I do it?!! Dental Practice Manager here. The craziness is just getting started for you! I just crawled home from an 11h shift with no lunch. It only gets worse after school haha. It's great though, if you enjoy it. I'm so passionate about by job
Yikes! My boyfriends mom is a dentist and definitely doesn’t have the same lifestyle haha I think it varies by practice!

@@KathrynMueller I've been in the dental world for 20 years (I am only 35) ... I worked for the same practice for 16 years and we had soooooo many dental residents and students come through there. I can tell you that every dental resident getting out on their own struggles! I dont think many practices still have that slow pace life style... it truly is about numbers and patient load anymore. Its actually sad... but every single dentist has production goals and its rush rush rush. I've never seen a student or a resident be fully confident and be truly able to practice on their own and I've seen over 200 dental residents or students in my time. Molar endo will kill you.

Kathryn, so I left a comment on your review video before, and we had the Bay Area in common and now we have Las Vegas in common! Can’t believe you’re going to UNLV! I lived in Vegas for 6 years with my late husband. We lived in the Summerlin area and stayed away anywhere that was past the“Strip” area, lol. Cool to see you in both my stomping grounds (Bay Area and Vegas). My gym was the big one off the freeway! Wishing you tons of success in dental school!

How do you guys make time for each other while being long distance? Any tips on making the transition easier? My boyfriend and I have been together for 4 years since high school and I start dental school at LECOM in July! Gonna be moving from NY to FL and will be long-distance for at least two years.

Hey! I'm between chemistry, dentistry and medicine and i'm leaning towards dentistry and chemistry more, but i just don't know which one to pick. (That's why i'm watching every video on youtube that's related to chemistry or dentistry hahaha). Also great video and you're so pretty

yes it is very different, i just don't know which one is the right for me, because i enjoy chemistry and i'm interested in many jobs that chemistry leads to but i'm also interested in dentistry and i'm so confused.

Raf many people go to dental school at an older age! Try shadowing and asking other professionals and see what feels like the best fit 😊

What would be a good major to go into that could help me when I get to dental school? Also what kind of volunteering/research projects/leadership activities did you do before dental school?
I was a psychology major but the bio majors in my class have an advantage because of all of the extra classes they had to take! And I volunteered helping elementary school girls with science projects as well as tutoring elementary school kids, and I did neuroscience/pain research! It doesn’t really matter what you do as long as you demonstrate an interest in dentistry and shadow a lot 😊
@@KathrynMueller Thank you so much! I think out of all of the things I need to do the research projects scare me the most, I just am not sure where to start or what I would do. It's good to know that it doesnt necessarily have to be dental related though.

I work for a profesor and he told me that it doesn’t matter dental schools like to see variety.

Was the wax ins for you to practice making denture prosthetics? Or when making a crown maybe? Not sure if that same technique is used for crowns, but I have seen them do that same type thing when making arches or dentures for clients.
its not used much for crowns anymore! its more to learn the anatomy!

Yes I did! most schools it is required to have a bachelors degree but some just need 4 years worth of college courses

Im a 13 year old thinking to go for an orthodontist, Cardiologist, or surgeon. Im thinking of cutting out surgeon and cardiologist though because they work too much imo. I heard orthodontist get less work than others. 30-40 Hrs a week is not to bad for me. And its not because its high paying its that my dad has heart problems, my mom had a surgery that saved her, and im getting braces which fascinated me on how it works. Yk how me (a child) gets hooked to things easily, I wanna do things for people. So Could i ask a few questions? Because next year would be where I do my future plan with the profession i wanna do. Firstly, are medical schools more independent or are they more "direct learning"? Also, are the schools mostly practicing or learning? Thirdly, what do they teach other than the procedures and stuff, like how to talk with your client? Do I have to take certain electives once im in highschool? And what are good medical schools? Last but not least, how's your day going? Haha.
Lol that is a lot dentistry and medicine are very related but rn you should just focus on science take all AP science classes they really help prepare you for college then in college you can shadow and determine what you wanna do (I’m a college student)

I am watching in in order to chose dental as my career. Because i got like 93 percent in hight school and my teeth has braces because of irregular of my teeth. And i want help others like me who suffer from not having a good smile. And the fu***ng pain. It has a lot of pain during making it regular.
But i don’t know if i could make it or not. Family is sayin it’s too hard and it takes too much time of your life. They are recommending the BBA OR BCS . Ugh it’s just to hard for me. Tho can you share your thoughts about my situation.

It’s highly recommended to NOT work during dental school. I’m in 3-5x the courses of undergrad so it’s just not really feasible
Question can you take a couple classes per semester or do you have to take a certain amount every semester
You have to take all the classes they enroll you in, you don’t have a choice and don’t get to enroll in your own classes. You take ~3x the credits of undergrad each semester

just stay in school and study!! not much you can do at 13 :)

What did you take in your Undergrad and did you need to have like a 4.0?
I was a psych major and chem minor! And just took all of the required predental classes! You definitely do not need a 4.0 but I personally had a 3.93
Is it required to have a good teeth in dental school? I have a very bad teeth and I want to be a dentist AHAHAHAHA
