I wish Tim still made music like this. His new stuff just doesn't compare. He still is and always will be my favorite singer, but his music is being converted to sound more "modern" which is what gets air time and where the money is. His old albums are the absolute best.
I don't understand why songs like this, that have a REAL story behind them that people can relate to have 300,000 views, yet justin bieber can sing baby, baby, baby for 3 minutes straight and it gets 27 million views. Wtf is wrong with society?
Very few songs actually make you "feel" inside what you're listening to. Even if this song has a dark message it strikes a chord in all of us. It's one song that when you hear it come on you just have to hit pause on the world and life, sit back and let it play.
I could play this song 10,000 times and it always strikes a chord in me, I am not sure why.. or maybe I am at some level.. Just beautiful touching song
I send this to my high school sweetheart 💕 where ever u are Crystal I still miss you . If yall every hear from a lady named Crystal colley from Vidor texas tell her Jason still loves her
Mr Sunshines Mad because you’re still a virgin so you take it out on a beautiful young woman who actually experienced love and loss and real life problems verses PlayStation problems- as we see from her current photo she survived the heartbreak and has a beautiful baby to bring on a new chapter of life and love and lessons. Meanwhile your still lonely and corny with a sense of humor and criticism only a mother could stomach. Hence your Norman bates vibe. Life is good.
free of the folks and hiding from the cops. man i miss those days.i really miss those days.its hard to hold tears back thinking about em,summer nights, dirt roads, country music and pickup trucks.
I used to think they chose adoption and the green eyed girl in the cabriolet was his daughter that he basically ran into at a light. Now i see it was an abortion and this song is even deeper to me.
To me this is Tim's unique little throwback style, guitar picking gem of a song of his collection that is as special as Hank Williams' "Your Cheating Heart" in its own uniqueness to his collection.
One of my favorite McGraw songs, I don't really pay attention to the lyrics, I just love it because its a great song. If you're going to be mean about it, why are you here? :)
People are saying "this is mine and my girlfriends song..." This is a song about going too far too fast and having an abortion. People grow apart after those kinds of things happen to them. It doesn't take rocket science. I love this song, because it is good. It tells a fantastic story, I am 15 myself. I do not yet know the struggles of life, but I know people should not label this as their song.
Very true. People will supplement themselves with other people's love without fully loving oneself; therefore, decision making is hindered and bad choices happen.
I'm not sure you all really get it. Or I may not, idk. To me this song isn't about abortion or just being young and stupid. I was 22 when I met my ex wife who was 18 and still a virgin. The first half of the song tells most of our story, but we kept our children. After 10 years together all it took was one guy convincing her that she hadn't lived enough to know what being in love was and she let herself fall out of love. We've been divorced for quite some time now, but I still remember all the love I felt for her. I see girls just like my ex wife and it brings everything back like I was living that moment right now. This song is about living your life!!! You live, you learn, you hopefully love enough to know what truly having your heart ripped out and put in a freezer while you can still feel it would be like...maybe without the heartache would be nice, but you get the point. He's saying you can't change what you'v done so move the hell on and LIVE!!!!!!! Yes I know that's easier said than done, but you have to try.
This song brings back some painful memories. Just like the song, I dated a girl on and off for over 3 years in high school, and we were wild at first. But as we got older, we grew more differences, fought more, and just overall grew further apart until we called it quits after graduation. Except i was the one that had the ragtop; a blue one matter of fact
Everyone had that girl/guy from their late teens to early 20s, that they thought they'd be with forever. Not usually the case though. This song reminds me of one those ladies.
i love this song and my favorite line is "well the very first time her mother met me her green eyed girl had been a mother to be for two weeks" and i have no idea why...
FutureTrucker Jen it's not about abortion , when he said I saw a young girl at the stop light means they gave up the kid for adoption that s what he meant. he wasn't or this song I should say isn't about abortion listen to the song closely
Devina Longbrake First: Punc-Tu-A-Tion... That said, I hate to burst ur bubble, but the lyrics clearly say, "we decided not to HAVE the child". If the lyric had said "we decided not to KEEP the child", it would have been ambiguous as to whether it was referring to abortion or adoption and then left open the possibility that the young girl with green eyes he was stopped at the light next to was in fact his own daughter. This would have made an already great song even better imho.
tfw you think about a person you used to love and you could say hi but you would probably just disturb their life and family so you say nothing and cry yourself to sleep instead
@covertjo okay, people can take this song many ways. that's just how i took it and what i heard. whenever it says something about seeing a green eyed girl in a red ragtop and how it brought back memories..it was his daughter that they gave up. but if you view it different, then it's fine. or you can just ask Tim yourself if it's that big of a deal..
Okay, I'm pretty young, but I still have an idea about this argument. Abortion is a choice and it takes a lot of thinking. Girls who get an abortion sometimes try and change their mind at the last minute and doctors won't let them, so people should stop acting like they have no regrets on this. Also, I'd consider what situation I'm in. If I know that no one will help me and I'm in a bad environment, I may consider abortion. You shouldn't judge someone who has had an abortion because you don't know them or their reasons. This is just my opinion, so if you're going to reply, please do it maturely. Oh and this song isn't even about abortion. That's just apart of the story.
Most people are prochoice, the biggest rift in the argument comes when you bring in how to regulate them. Is it fair for someone who doesn't care for the idea of using abortion as birth control having to help fund a rather expensive procedure? To be sure there are many other extremes behind why someone might have one but ultimately those variable make up around 3% of the total the other 97% are, more or less, as a form of birth control. You also have to factor in that, should the father choose to be involved, they have little to no say currently in whether or not the mother has one. I understand it is the mother who has to endure childbirth but that life is every bit as much the dad's as it is the moms. Don't get me wrong here, I'm pro choice myself, but the issue isn't as cut and dry as "it's the woman's body, it's her choice."
@covertjo okay, people can take this song many ways. that's just how i took it and what i heard. whenever it says something about seeing a green eyed girl in a red ragtop and how it brought back memories..it was his daughter that they gave up. but if you view it different, then it's fine. or you can just ask Tim yourself if it's that big of a deal..and i didn't say anthing was wrong with that?
We grew apart, yet we stayed together. I did what I could to make you happy and make it work. But, in the end, we went our separate ways. “ . . . We took one more trip around the sun. But it was all make believe in the end. No, I can’t say where she is today. I can’t remember who I was back then.” I wasn’t the man with whom she fell in love; and, in the end, I couldn’t go back. 2008-2013 48144 God bless

Carly S my name is Carly S too. Very cool....
Tim was arguably always modern country or at least the start of it. Kenny and Tim were breakaways from Garth, Alan, Travis, Clint and B&D
adding that "lovin me" at the end of the second chorus is killer
It’s the tear breaker
such facts. i can’t take it

Came back thinking about this song, It will always, always carry a spot in my heart.
i absolutly love this song. I like the whole story line of it. My favorite part is when he sees a girl at the red light and he remembers everything.
This song hits home right now. Life hits hard at this age. She moves away and I'll never forget the day she said she didn't love me anymore.
My sister passed away this was her favorite country song I love it as well! Thanks Tim for great music

Good for you. That is awesome that you stand up for what is right. Our world needs more people like you. Thank you.
