I really like how you combine all the patchwork, I have one though and I use some patches like Cannibal Corpse, a big one in the back of Bloodbath, Marduk etc...
"Only one genre" is bullshit. I have a Slipknot patch next to an Eluveitie patch, Amon Amarth on the other side, Judas Priest further down and a big Metallica backpatch, so...
@@astraeareminiec669 I suppose so. I mean, like what BMWerewolf says/said, it is yours and you can do whatever the fuck you want with it. It doesn't really matter if it has sports and quotes patches.
Growing up I had a sleeveless Denim that went over my leather jacket - now a known as a Battle Vest. I would draw a lot of the bands names or paint them on, as patches were few and far between. Would love to still have it but alas it is gone, nice to see it is something that is alive and well. Always used to love painting on leather jackets, actually made money doing it for a while.
My jacket I wear everyday and as a casual thing, has a big immortal back patch, goat head patch on my right side of my chest, a Darkthrone button, and a simplistic Dimmu patch on my right elbow. I love it the way it is, I may add more patches, I may not. I have a lot of patches to put on stuff - but part of me loves it just the way it is and I may move on to another vest/jacket project. I totally agree with you on wanting to keep it very square and organized! I'm like that too. Everything has gotta be just right, I would feel weird having them randomly set and sewed. Anyways, nice videos! Its nice to see metal content on youtube that isn't stuck up and yanno how some metalheads can be. Nice vest by the way!! I like your variety.
I like the neat organized back of yours and most other battle jackets, to me it just looks better, I feel like the front can be more chaotic & still look sick
agreed to each his own, for something to be self expressive shouldn't be judged to the point when someone may have to point out that a band doesn't belong there, or worst them telling you "your missing one ". Never heard of the TV show you mention but sounds good will check it out.
How your patches are all square and neat, that looks really good. It shows you pay close attention to detail and take care of what you own. It makes me want to square my patches up haha.
I think if I were to make a battle vest, most of the bands I would include would be thrash, melodic death, power, heavy and prog metal. I might also have a giant ass Opeth or Nightwish patch on the back as well, I would love that.
I opted for my vest to be more of a representation of my personality overall. So I have plenty of band patches, but also skulls, comic and Star Wars stuff, and a military patch
"I post more pictures of this than most people do of their ugly babies." The best quote I've heard today XD Your vest freakin' rules \m/ Yes, there should be no rules for them. The majority of my patches are metal, but I also have a Bauhaus pin and Black Flag patch on mine, and non music stuff on mine. I may put grunge stuff on mine in the future. My jacket is not perfect and symmetrical, but I don't care.
If I ever had the time and patience I'd put a large Metallica back patch, a motor head patch on the front next to a sabbath and Ozzy patch, with a Warlock patch on the other side and maybe a dio and a scorpions patch as well
I love your videos that make me laugh. the part about they neatness of your vest and you said piss on you bud I couldnt keep from laughing!!!!!! loved it. keep making videos please.
Im currently working on making my first battle jacket! I have a big Megadeth patch for the back and a few other small patches. The jacket that im going going to be using has spikes all over the shoulder area, not just on the shoulders. I hope it turns out nice!
I'll be 100% honest, I'm not exactly your biggest fan, but I will truly love you forever for recommending Todd And The Book Of Pure Evil. That show is absolutely phenomenal and I really hope that this will draw in new fans and help get The End Of The End made.Cheers \m/
I have three battle jackets and one battle vest. One of my battle jackets isn't even denim. Most of the logos on my vest/jackets are hand drawn. I'm still constructing the battle vest. I decided to purchase and sew on actual patches for the vest. Some logos are just too damn hard for me to draw and I want some album covers along with the logos. I sure as hell can't draw the album covers. I adhere to know certain way of constructing a vest/jacket, although, I do want to make a jacket entirely about Rush since they are my favorite band. I'm also not adverse to putting nonmetal bands next to metal ones. I hope to find a patch of The Outfield and Brian Setzer. They will be placed next Immortal or Slayer.
Well... same here, what is on your vest should be your own decision. Sew the Patches on as you like. Fuck rules. You can also craft yourself Patches from bands you like. This is a bit tricky but it works fine with a bit practice. Some Guys said to me that my vest is too clean, too organized and that the vest mustn't be washed if it gets dirty... Well i wash it, I don't want to be smelly or to stay dirty after Festivals... ugh -.-
Gonna start putting together a vest as well. Mostly gonna have black metal patches but I'm gonna throw on some other stuff too. Like you said, it's my my vest and I should put what I want on there
My vest mostly has thrash metal on it, apart from one patch, I have sepultura and anthrax and shit right next to a Genesis patch, I put the Genesis patch on there because they are the first band that really gave me my strong passion for music, so I totally think it deserves a place on my vest :)
lol a "real" battle vest. Your "friend" was tripping. You've inspired me to make my own battle vest/jacket. Been in to metal since I can remember. Have a good day bud🤘
My vest is still young and naked but I have a big back patch of KoRn which kinda makes me feel weird because I listen to a lot of black and death metal like Mayhem and Bloodbath and a lot of doom like candlemass X,D my vest may be young and naked but it's probably misleading
I think the same about my vest sometimes, I have Maiden Backpatch, but I listen more to Slayer. In the end Eddie just looks better then Slayer's Eagle.
I'm a metal head but I want to make one of those just for shiggles. Put spikes and studs like a battle vest but instead of izegrim or UNEXPECT or Nile, Nicki (?) Minaj, Will.i.am., and one direction. I just threw up a little.
Excally Thank you , I had a friend who told me my patches are lil to separated and u dont have enough patches, I told him it takes time and money for more patches and sewing . I was the first one in my school to have a Jean vest and then my fellow metal heads/rockers followed the tread and then people who dont listen to the music, started wearing Jean jackets with fake patches.
I use thread but I've seen people use dental floss. I prefer thread because it can be black and it blends better while dental floss is white and shows more.
I have a big FU skeletal finger on the back and a Pantera logo above it, 20-20 spikes on the shoulders, Metallica Eet Fuk and COB Hatebreeder patches on one side, Powerwolf Blessed and Possessed and Immortal Holocaust patch on the other, all sewn by myself.
Even though I'm still working on my Traditional power metal battle vest... I showed what i've done so far...( added some old jewelry) to my sister & she likes it
Still putting together my vest. I have the same view of square patches that are neat and still look good, shame finding a D.R.I patch is turning out to be hard.
Hey man! I'm a metalcore/deathcore fan but I still like to watch your videos to get to know your point of view on the topics i like. May you make a video about specific song recommendations you really like, I'm up to anything, black, deathmetal, brutal or whatever genre you want to talk about, I'm always looking for new stuff to listen to, whether it's about instrumental complexity or really high quality vocals. Thanks! Also if anyone want to recommend specific songs right below my comment I'd appreciate it!
Mine has band patches and patches of other crap that doesn't have to do music, it pretty much defines my personality honestly, but I do have one patch that is most meaningful and it's a In memory patch of my best friend who passed away last year
So have you seen/what do you think of Onward? I never thought I'd see the day there'd be a Disney/Pixar character in a battle vest! Do you think this makes Metal folks more accepted and less of a threat/more of a good guy? Or do you think this brings Metal more to the vanilla mainstream and may make battle vests trendy? But ya gotta love that brother Barley had a mix tape called Rise to Valhalla. There HAD to be some nerdy Metalheads involved in the making of this.. - Mother Mayhem
I remember reading a comment somewhere about battle jacket rules and that, and this one guy I feel needs to be quoted, unfortunately I don't remember who it was that said it. "Metal ain't never been about rules."
i came to this video because i want to make a vest and my friends were like "um do you even know the rules? everybody knows the rules!" which made me feel dumb xD so i clicked this video to see if you talked about the rules but after just finishing it.. FUCK IT! i dont need rules ill make my vest the way i want xD liked and subscribed!
Making one right now. My back patch is Led Zeppelin and has everything from Slayer to Dropkick Murphys to Nirvana on it. Genres all over the place. But its what i like, so its going on there!
I have Iron Maiden's "Piece of Mind" on the back of my vest. It was an old shirt I had and it didn't fit me so I cut the picture out and patched it on there.
Idea for the video: different 'styles' of battle vests for the start: 1. Thrasher. Most common style. A lot of band patches (sometimws you can't even see the denim), often square and organised. Can have some studs and pins, but not too many. 2. Black Metal. Same ase previous, but it must be black denim and have b/w black metal patches.Usually has more spikes and studs than 'Thrasher'. 3. Punky. Studs and spikes all over the place, sometimes all the spare space between the patches are covered with 'metal'. Has band patches and random stuff (skulls, anarchy symbols). Patches are sometimes placed in more chaotic way. Can be handpainted 4. Hard Rock/Glam. Mostly has random patches (skulls, guitars, fire), placed chaoticly, sometimes it looks like one big picture. Can has a lot of studs, but not as many as 'Punky' style. (See the guy from Lost Boys). You can come up with more I'm not saying that these are 'the rules', it's just.. like different subgenres of Metal:) Also you can say about where it came from - biker vests, where every patch has it's meaning.
BMW,I'm still working on my battle vest... But,the design of the vest makes it impossible for me to have a back patch on it.. So,I'm placing each of the patches across the back & left to right/right to left..
Great points man, as always. I find it so hypocritical that metalheads are all about individuality and such, yet they'll tell you what you can and can't do with clothing. Not all metalheads of course, but it is common
How strict are you guys with which patches you choose for your vest? Will you attach one if you went to a concert in commemoration? Will you attach one if you really loved the design or will you only attach one only if you die hard love that band?
hey, im sure you get a lot of questions and requests, and i may be just one guy, but can you please make a video showing your entire jacket? in the past couple of months i have been designing my jacket, yet i haven't made it yet, and im watching videos about them, and i would really appreciate if you could just show off your jacket. and also, where did you get your jacket? i can't find one. (the jacket itself) also, congrats on 2,000. i love your vids man.
I'll make sure to show off the entire thing on my next video! A lot of people have asked to see the whole thing so I will. I bought the vest itself off of ebay. Hopefully that helps! and thank you very much! I really appreciate it.
+Blackmetal Werewolf (Blackmetalwerewolf) hey man, thanks SOOOO much. honestly, no one ever replies to my questions, so thanks. lookin forward to the vid!
Recently ,I bought the box set for the latest Xandria lp... A promotional silk flag for the lp had been included. What I' m wondering about is : Can I have the flag framed to protect it? And how would it cost?
Hey if you ever come down to the stated you should check out Slaughter que barbecue and metal festival in Georgia there usually in September. I got a permanent scar on my knee from getting into an exudus pit during bonded by blood during the 2019 one
What are your thoughts on buying non-authorized patches and mixing music genres? If I put a large back patch on a denim jacket, when I wash it will the denim shrink and ruin the sew job? Do screen printed patches hold up well? Thanks all!
I'm still working on my vest, rn I have Bathory, Obituary, Arch Enemy, a generic skull patch, and a big Emperor back patch. I'm not trying to be that "only one genre" guy tho, I just really love death/black metal.

I have no Battle Vest.I go to Concerts and Festivals, like I go to Footballmatches.Black Skinnys,Combatboots,Black Hoodie and My Black Bomberjacket (My First Concert was in 1983 the German Band Böhse Onkelz.I was 9 Years Old and I have the Same outfitstyle there like I have today for Concerts.).
I've been looking good to make one but I really love David Bowie even though he isn't metal, could I still put a patch of him on? would it make it not a battle vest anymore if I did?
BMW, Does Battle vest always need to have a back patch on it? The reason why I'm asking this question is that :I ordered a Helloween :keepers I back patch...but ,some how it got lost in the mail.. I'd love to go in the smaller patches,Since ,I don;t have that problem with them..
hell yeah dude, i gotta afree, i have always wanted a battle vest, but in reality i suppose you could say i have a battle leather. i have a leather jacket ive had for 24 years now. and that thing has all kinds of shit on it. it weight twice what w typical leather jacket weighs. but its also adorned with spikes, piramyd and round, chains,( yep, im THAT guy) patches out the wazoo, and so many buttons, i dont even know where some of them came from. there is all kinds of shit on that jacket, i had the cuffs airbrushed silver years ago. but it was always my little second skin. i just wish i could squeeze my middle aged fat ass into it still. damn i miss the good ol days. keep up the great work man.
I only have 2 personal rules on battle jackets. The bands got to be metal at least hard Rock (ACDC, Led Zeppelin, etc) and the patches should be real embroidered patches. (I hate printed patches but that's me). But no rules on construction at all, including the myth you must have a monstrous back patch. I personally only have a mid size actual embroidered fear of the dark patch as my center patch, bigger than the rest for sure but doesn’t take up the whole back of the vest either.
If a little criticism is welcome... I appreciate the recommendations at the end of your videos, but I've only been subscribed for a few hours and already figured that it's something you like to do. Instead of reminding us you like to share some great stuff with your viewers, give that segment a name, or make a catchphrase. Lot's of video makers (metal heads and normal people) all do similar things, but your channel should be like your battle vest. Uniquely yours.
Hey, +Blackmetal Werewolf what do you think of the subgenre Slam or Slamming Brutal Death Metal. Like Kraanium, Vulvectomy, Dying Fetus, Devourment etc?
if you like todd and the book of pure evil watch a film called deathgasm. sounds like a very similar idea and its one of my favourite films. Filled with great tunes as well.
Now I have a question here. I do have a hooded denim battle vest but the big thing is that I bought it pre patched with an Asking Alexandria patch on the back? Is that a bad thing? Should I try to put more patches on it? (I do like Megadeth and Anthrax enough to justify doing so)
Was thinking of having a battle jacket. I rarely wear vests outside and mostly wear long sleeve shirts with the sleeves rolled up, Plus I live in England so most of the time it's cold and raining. I think that would fit my style more, whats you're opinion on that? :) (Btw, I'm also a fellow Maiden fan and I share a birthday with Bruce Dickinson 7th of August ;) \m/ )
I'm going to start making a battle vest soon and some of the bands (not much but some) that are going to be on the vest aren't even metal bands but I'm going to put on metal and non-metal bands so I can show off my 'diverse' taste in music, so far I have three patches Iron Maiden, Slipknot & My Chemical Romance (this is obviously one of the non-metal ones), I haven't put them in yet because I don't own a vest but I think I've been able to find one. By the way awwsum video and awwsum vest. Keep up the amazing work.
"I post more pictures of this than most people do of their ugly babies" I lost it after that XD

Sewing is metal as fuck
+Terror Regime indeed
To me there is only one rule with battle vests:
Do whatever the f*** you want. You're the one wearing it.
Metalhead have to be openminded, like you BMwerewolf
And me?
İ will sew a picture of 2pac between cannibal corpse and sodom.
hahaha my duude!!

I bet he's just a poser.
It would be funny to see someone with a battle vest covered in shitty pop groups. Justin Bieber, Alisha Keys, and Justin Timberlake. Lol.
They exist. In the world of bastardizing heavy metal, it's becoming a thing.

David Hollingshead
Did you just combine the worlds "shits and giggles" to make shiggles?
I'm starting to see it in the UK. I see people taking the clothing that metalheads would wear and wear it but all they like is pop. Its weird.

3. Punky. Studs and spikes all over the place, sometimes all the spare space between the patches are covered with 'metal'. Has band patches and random stuff (skulls, anarchy symbols). Patches are sometimes placed in more chaotic way. Can be handpainted
4. Hard Rock/Glam. Mostly has random patches (skulls, guitars, fire), placed chaoticly, sometimes it looks like one big picture. Can has a lot of studs, but not as many as 'Punky' style. (See the guy from Lost Boys).
You can come up with more
I'm not saying that these are 'the rules', it's just.. like different subgenres of Metal:)
Also you can say about where it came from - biker vests, where every patch has it's meaning.
Also Hard Rock/Glam battle vests can be very colorful due to these bands having colorful logos and album covers.
Todd and the book is fucking amazing
Hell I got a planet express patch right behind the collar on mine.
I have theme vests. I have thrash metal theme vests only, BUT i listen still various metal and heavy metal genres.
Yesss my vest is gonna have Iron Maiden's Fear of the Dark back patch, just waiting to get home to dark wash my denim 😍
That's a really cool vest man keep up on that good work
"Well piss on you bub." xD gets me every time!
did you put the Fear of the Dark because you like the song or album?
How strict are you guys with which patches you choose for your vest? Will you attach one if you went to a concert in commemoration? Will you attach one if you really loved the design or will you only attach one only if you die hard love that band?
We have the same Gorgoroth patch in the exact same spot.
Cheers.
hey, im sure you get a lot of questions and requests, and i may be just one guy, but can you please make a video showing your entire jacket? in the past couple of months i have been designing my jacket, yet i haven't made it yet, and im watching videos about them, and i would really appreciate if you could just show off your jacket. and also, where did you get your jacket? i can't find one.
I got the piece of mind patch I see you have the fear of the dark one dude that's badass as fuck
What are your thoughts on buying non-authorized patches and mixing music genres? If I put a large back patch on a denim jacket, when I wash it will the denim shrink and ruin the sew job? Do screen printed patches hold up well? Thanks all!
Congrats on 2,000 subscribers
I'm still working on my vest, rn I have Bathory, Obituary, Arch Enemy, a generic skull patch, and a big Emperor back patch. I'm not trying to be that "only one genre" guy tho, I just really love death/black metal.
I have no Battle Vest.I go to Concerts and Festivals, like I go to Footballmatches.Black Skinnys,Combatboots,Black Hoodie and My Black Bomberjacket (My First Concert was in 1983 the German Band Böhse Onkelz.I was 9 Years Old and I have the Same outfitstyle there like I have today for Concerts.).
it's supposed to be unique, that's like the whole point, so what if yours is extra unique, the important thing is that you like it
I've been looking good to make one but I really love David Bowie even though he isn't metal, could I still put a patch of him on? would it make it not a battle vest anymore if I did?
A battle vest is a vest with patches, I have the Beatles on my long sleeve. Do whatever you like
BMW, Does Battle vest always need to have a back patch on it?
The reason why I'm asking this question is that :I ordered a Helloween :keepers I back patch...but ,some how it got lost in the mail..
I'd love to go in the smaller patches,Since ,I don;t have that problem with them..
I'd like to do a battle vest but I don't know enough Metal to cover an entire article of clothing. So can I do a mish-mash of other genres?
Emily Johns do whatever you're into and dont give a fuck what others view it as
Freakin love your videos and your attitude🤘💀
I must find that Todd and the Book of Pure Evil patch 🤤
I want to make a vest! That's so fucking cool.
hell yeah dude, i gotta afree, i have always wanted a battle vest, but in reality i suppose you could say i have a battle leather. i have a leather jacket ive had for 24 years now. and that thing has all kinds of shit on it. it weight twice what w typical leather jacket weighs. but its also adorned with spikes, piramyd and round, chains,( yep, im THAT guy) patches out the wazoo, and so many buttons, i dont even know where some of them came from. there is all kinds of shit on that jacket, i had the cuffs airbrushed silver years ago. but it was always my little second skin. i just wish i could squeeze my middle aged fat ass into it still. damn i miss the good ol days. keep up the great work man.
I'm still working on mine
Andreia Reminiec same
I only have 2 personal rules on battle jackets.
Congrats on 2,000 man! \m/
Dude ur battle vest is awesome
You have a Todd and the Bok of Pure Evil patch Holy Balls
if you like todd and the book of pure evil watch a film called deathgasm. sounds like a very similar idea and its one of my favourite films. Filled with great tunes as well.
Now I have a question here. I do have a hooded denim battle vest but the big thing is that I bought it pre patched with an Asking Alexandria patch on the back? Is that a bad thing? Should I try to put more patches on it? (I do like Megadeth and Anthrax enough to justify doing so)
I like to make mine square to I want to have my patches organized
I have an Alestorm backpatch, talk about getting shit for the patches
I had to take my battle vest apart ,because the vest itself is two sizes too big for me to waar
I love you're vest great job
I love todd and the book of pure evil i watched that shit 24-7 god i wish theyd make a third season
Was thinking of having a battle jacket. I rarely wear vests outside and mostly wear long sleeve shirts with the sleeves rolled up, Plus I live in England so most of the time it's cold and raining. I think that would fit my style more, whats you're opinion on that? :)
(Btw, I'm also a fellow Maiden fan and I share a birthday with Bruce Dickinson 7th of August ;) \m/ )
+Fangbanger sadly no, I only know of one place near me that sells band patches and I haven't been there since I got my last 3 patches.
