My pick for 2015 Truck of the Year, well done by Ford. Looks great, performs great and I am sure it will as per the F150 in general, endure great as well. In the future I hope we get to see a 10 speed transmission, clearly Ford has delivered an exciting new platform for the F150!
i drove the hell out of a xl 2014 with the 5.0...and what a powerhouse...i towed 5500 lbs of trailer and cargo up to the mountains in flagstaff and averaged 14.7 despite running it hard and even passing lane hog cars in the hill climb section and hit 90 mph and that was no problem...that thing would have gone over 100 easy even with a trailer and on the way back with 1500 lbs and an empty trailer i got 19.7 mpg i would never consider a direct injection motor so the 5.0 is the only choice and it sounds amazing...the only difference you notice is that it shifts at 6000 rpm as opposed to 7k in the stang and when its empty you really feel like its faster than most cars on the road
I seriously wouldn't be surprised if a 4-cylinder joins the family in the next generation!!! But for all of you out there who love V8's they do offer that option!!
They will probably try the twin turbo + electric supercharger version of the 1.0 liter fiesta engine. Tow 6000 pounds with it. Or they could get smart and update their 3.2 liter Diesel for it.
It sounds nice, but I love my F-150 2004 model so much right now. It has the 5.4 V-8 under the hood and you do have to get use to the brakes and also the accelerator at first. I knew they was playing around with the aluminum bed on the 2014 model in tests and it was about like the model I have with the fiberglass outer bed-would get out of control due to less weight in the rear. The thing I was listening for was if it was quiet, because GM has worked to make their pickups quieter and it worked just fine for them. I also have a Ford Escape and it is so noisy and you can hear the tires on the roadway and it is so noisy until you have to increase the volume of your radio/CD player to flood out the noise.
There is no insulation in the fender well to quiet the vehicle. Ford knew it was a cheaper vehicle and they cut cost by not putting in insulation in the body.
My brother n law has a beautiful Silverado with 5.3 V8, super nice truck, he says he gets in the mid 20's on the highway, but when they come in the mileage meter reads 15.8, not taking anything from this truck, my Ford with the 2.7 EB says 21.5 mpg all in town that's nearly 6 mpg per gallon better, I do check mine with calculator on phone and it's always a little optimistic, say 4/10's. After 4 months with my 2.7 STX Crew 4wd I have to say it's a great light duty full size truck, got it for about 33 and more I drive it the better I like it! Hopefully the lack of future rust repairs and fuel savings will balance out against future Turbo replacement, in Europe a lot of Turbos are being rebuilt my small rebuild shops and prices are less than half of new, wit GM throwing Turbos on everything in their car lineups and Ford doing it with everything just maybe that will happen here,
rumerboyz i agree, the tundra is a little thirstier but then again it's depends on how a person drives, i'd rather spend a little more on gas than spend it on parts and labour, maintenance is the most important thing if you want to avoid future problems
Not a Ford guy but that 2.7 is a winner. Ecoboosts in my opinion is a great step for Ford and as much as i like the grunt of V8's, i believe the rest of the segment will follow suit and dig into this technology (even though its always been there overseas *Porsche*). Especially with the way mpg's are becoming a demand. The scary thing is, if Ford decides to build a badass new ranger and stick that same 2.7 in it...... jackpot.
Would def stay away from the 2.7tt for a couple years until they work out the kinks like all other ecoboost engines when they first came out. Good review. I'm going to get the reviewer a bucket of fried chicken and some cheeseburgers.
MrNuggetface It I recall correctly, the 3.5L EB TT-V6 suffered some turbo failures that cost the owners a lot of power and responsiveness. Most of it was somewhat minor technical issues otherwise. Also the engine, in practice, does not actually get better gas mileage than the 5.0L V8 its supposed to replace.
Very good review Craig..I've always liked the F-150 until now..from far away it looks like a Toyota Tundra The only good thing about it is the different engine options..I personally like a V8 on any truck..and the new 2016 raptor is one sweet m... f... truck
2:40 Looking at that engine, I can see more of why I won't own ford. Not only did they not learn from the last time they had an overly complicated timing setup and chose to use TWO different timing belts (the only advantage of which would be the SLIGHT chance that you'd only have to replace one head instead of both WHEN the timing belt fails) but they also haven't learned to stay away from plastic timing tensioners. Every engine that has used plastic guides or tensioners has had a problem with them failing.
There are over 10 major issues they have had with the 3.5 ecoboost engine itself In the first few years it was out. It only takes a google search or a trip to a ford forum to see this is obvious.
Tom Pfeiler I wouldnt drive a hemi either. right now the tundra is the leading candidate for me with the silverado is second ford used to be my favorite truck but I own an escape and all my friends have f150 and they and we all have problems with our fords. Mines only have 58K miles and the engine light has been on forever cant seem to figure out why its on. my friends f150s engine light is on as well. Ford trucks just seem cheap they look sturdy but they stay needing check ups . However I will only buy ford again if its a Super duty f250. I think hands down they have the best super duty trucks.
That is too bad to hear about FORD Check engine lights on all the time. Mercedes does that too once you hit around 60,000 miles.. Then you can not get them to stop !!
I have a 2015 Eco boost F150 Platinum. Just spent a ton of money on the piece of crap to get it fixed. Leaving it in my driveway to slowly rot away. :)
Angel Crisostomo It's only a slight fraction of a second faster than (some of) the V8's, and that's only due to the trucks weight reduction, not the engine's power. And yes, high teens is where it will be in terms of MPG's, which is right where the V8s live. Which is exactly my point, just because it's a small engine doesn't mean it's fuel efficient (which it isn't). For the same amount of power and fuel economy, I'd rather have a V8. It's way more reliable in the long run.
farmerallis No, its not faster only due to the weight reduction, the 2.7TT is a mighty mite. A 6.2L V8 extended cab (as tested by tflt) is slower 0-60 and towing against a full size crew cab 4x4 with it. The eco eems significantly under rated by the factory. FYI, I still drive a V8 truck and it definitely DOESN'T live in the high teens for gas mileage. The fact that several publications have gotten mid 20's on the highway with the Ecoboost is a testament to it's design.
Angel Crisostomo I don't know what V8 you drive but my 5.3 gets high teens combined and mid 20s highway. Like I said, no different than the 2.7. And of course the 2.7 will be faster (not by much though) in a 0-60 sprint than any naturally aspirated engine because it makes more torque, and thus more HP, at lower PRMs.
not the first ford f-150 with an aluminum body back in early 09 ford used an 09 f-150 all aluminum body they were secretly testing. so the aluminum body on the f-150 has been in testing for 5 years before the new 2015 f-150 debuted.
8 and 10 speed trucks? How unbelievably small will these gears get? There is nothing wrong with a 4-6 speed. If the 1-2 mpg savings on gas means that much to you, get a smaller truck or a gaybox- i mean prius. As for the truck, they are all starting to look the same and have way too much crap in them. My 2004 F-250 XL is bare bones minus power windows and locks and haven't had any issues with it after 160k. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
id like to know those other competitors with 8 speed gear box? are they proper SUV with body on frame design? i only now the range rover but otherwise there aren't any
EscapeforMankind I may be wrong, but I thought that Ford and GM were working on a 9 AND 10 speed, and that the 10 speeds were for HD use. It's been a long time since I read that so, like I said, I'm probably wrong.
Please tell me Ford put an actual gas cap back on this year? The "gasket on the fuel door" is a TERRIBLE idea put on there for ubanites. Us country people like an actual cap to prevent dirt from ruining our pickups. Also, have they done away with that stupid funnel idea for refueling your truck from a gas can (say, should you run out?)
EscapeforMankind And you're obviously not good at insults try a little harder next time. I'm entitled to my opinion fuck anyone who has a problem with that :) and stop clogging my email with bullshit
2.7L ? That's slightly above a 90's Ford Ranger. I love real Ford trucks so I had to buy the 302. I'm not impressed with the turbo stuff. If they could bring back the I6 4.9L 300 I'd buy one today.
48k miles later. I have a 2015 Eco boost F150 Platinum. Just spent a ton of money on the piece of crap. Leaving it in my driveway to slowly rot away. :
Ford seems to be going the way of making a big car, than making top trucks. I get the whole fuel economy. But I don't like where ford, and everyone else for that matter is going for trucks. Yes, fuel economy is great to have. But They are making it more of a car than a dirt beast. I no like.

Yippie will if the ram V8 with 8 speed auto have excellent gas mileage with increased speed & torque which handling it very will so how about 10 speed ? i think you know .
EscapeforMankind What Ford is failing to realize is that there are plenty consumers that can afford the premium. Hey Ford... Bring it. We have money. I don't buy diesels because of fuel prices. I buy diesels because of the torque and ability to drive over 300,000+ on the same motor reliably.
If I'm going to buy a truck I want a truck I don't want a v6 in my truck trucks are suppose to have big v8's in them ford quit making oversized cars and start making trucks
People who grew up with boost (me) would prefer lighter v6s with torque down low for a normal DD as opposed to v8s. I'm glad Ford had an engine for everyone tho.
the tundra is ugly i can pull and get wayy more mpg than that weak looking tundra i raced a 5.7 on the 15 fwy in cali he exited the fwy and i barely stepped on it jajaja
You think it looks like a Tundra, huh? Well, think for a second. The new F-150 looks just like the Atlas concept Ford debuted back in 2012, and Toyota hasn't had an original idea in almost 30 years. Now, I understand that the Tundra made it to market first but who really copied who? #dontbestupid
*sigh* car makers are getting worse and worse... 8 speed? V6 in a truck? Rides like a car?Cylinder deactivation? I personally think that this is an insult to people that want powerful v8s,a truck that rides like a truck, and a maximum of 6 speeds, and NO cylinder deactivation.
Ford f150 platinum trim in 2015 was $55,000, compared to 2023 model $75,000, in 8 years the price has gone completely insane
55k in 2015 is roughly 72k in 2024
My pick for 2015 Truck of the Year, well done by Ford. Looks great, performs great and I am sure it will as per the F150 in general, endure great as well. In the future I hope we get to see a 10 speed transmission, clearly Ford has delivered an exciting new platform for the F150!
My 2024 F-150 is much better and this Chanel is out of business but my 2024 F-150 is still kicking baby.
Wasn’t even 2024 10 months ago lil bro, you don’t own shit 😂
Great video!! Really good camera work
im goin 5.0 when i get my f150 at the end of the year... no forced induction for me... just give me the good ole trusty and reliable v8
Ford has a game changer! Wow
this guys a GEEK!!

keep your tundra, you will have a lot less problems
+guy proulx. You really think so? Are the tundras better then the fords? Have you owned both? Any info on both trucks would be great thanks!
rumerboyz yes i have owned both and my tundra has been far more reliable, if you like trading up every 5 or 6 years the tundra has a better resale
Ok, thanks man! I really like the Ford's new look, but I don't want a truck that's in the shop more then it's on the road!
rumerboyz i agree, the tundra is a little thirstier but then again it's depends on how a person drives, i'd rather spend a little more on gas than spend it on parts and labour, maintenance is the most important thing if you want to avoid future problems

let me guess, the f-150 is the best seller because it's the best truck, is that why mcdonalds sells the most burgers because they have the best meat?
Would def stay away from the 2.7tt for a couple years until they work out the kinks like all other ecoboost engines when they first came out. Good review. I'm going to get the reviewer a bucket of fried chicken and some cheeseburgers.
Tell us what was wrong with the 3.5L EcoBoost and why those upgrades weren't used on the second generation 2.7L EcoBoost?
If Autoguide would ring in here.....they would tell you there is laundry list of problems the 3.5 ecoboost had in its first 3 years.
MrNuggetface
You mean there was a problem, but not anymore.
Thousands of owners were HUGELY inconvenienced in many ways.
MrNuggetface
It I recall correctly, the 3.5L EB TT-V6 suffered some turbo failures that cost the owners a lot of power and responsiveness. Most of it was somewhat minor technical issues otherwise. Also the engine, in practice, does not actually get better gas mileage than the 5.0L V8 its supposed to replace.
This truck is amazing but could u guys PLEASE DO A REVIEW ON THE KIA FORTE5 EX
Very good review Craig..I've always liked the F-150 until now..from far away it looks like a Toyota Tundra

Its a pretty cool truck I hope the SVT Raptor will be available in 2016
Ford's ruled this class for Decades.
I have that exact truck. Mines leveled out which looks better
2:40 Looking at that engine, I can see more of why I won't own ford. Hey Kip nice truck!!!
Its a good looking truck, I wonder what it would look like with a 4 inch lift kit..
This truck is really awesome I like the pricing I think it's a very awesome
This and the RAM 1500.
Best trucks in America!
when you really take it off-road I wonder if you will get that aluminum wobble since the whole thing is a cookie sheet on wheels
lol, imagine if it gets damaged how much it will cost to repair
looks like a maintenance nightmare !!
Couldnt say it any better
im saying that engine cylinder off and on mode sounds like engine check light every 5k miles .
James Morris Works great in Hybrid engines. How is that any different than the Hemi turning off half the cylinders when cruising?
Tom Pfeiler

can anyone tell me how much the length of the truck bed differs from trim to trim?
It depends on the configuration you want. They come in either 5.5 ft, 6.5 ft or an 8 ft bed.
hey thanks
I think people are going to be pretty disappointed with the 2.7's fuel economy.
farmerallis Seeing as how the 2.7TT is faster than most V8's, and still gets high teens MPG unloaded, you're probably wrong.

that's why toyota doesn't change their powertrain every year like the big 3, they got it right , right from day 1
***** never had any problems with my toyotas but had many with my domestics
id like to know those other competitors with 8 speed gear box? are they proper SUV with body on frame design? i only now the range rover but otherwise there aren't any
Ram and Chevy both have 8 speed transmissions available
desertfox2020
So in 12 months Ford will have a 10 speed transmission available.
My ass^^
Jeremy Nantais That's right Germy, Ford 10 speed transmission.
EscapeforMankind I may be wrong, but I thought that Ford and GM were working on a 9 AND 10 speed, and that the 10 speeds were for HD use. It's been a long time since I read that so, like I said, I'm probably wrong.
Dropp 600 more pounds use volvos back wheel hybrid system and add the 2.3
Hate the front of the truck. Doesn't look good.
Did you change you mind ?

Is it me or the interior is a copy of the Porsche Cayenne?
Dash reminds me of the Panamera
It is a good truck.
Ecobooblah blah blah...where are the big honking V8's and diesels??? Real trucks have 8 cylinders or a diesel!! I hope there's a new Raptor!
Stfu
ghd bfb And to you sir I say mind your own fuckin business and thanks for playing :)
PremierAutoMan86 You obviously don't know what you're talking about.
I would find something I was good at cause this ain't it.

PremierAutoMan86
If you don't like it Jerk Face then turn your fucking reply button off DF.
That f250 front end tho
Great the interior still behind silvardo and ram sigh
2.7L ? That's slightly above a 90's Ford Ranger. I love real Ford trucks so I had to buy the 302. I'm not impressed with the turbo stuff. If they could bring back the I6 4.9L 300 I'd buy one today.
90s ranger with 2.5 I-4:
119 HP + 135 TQ
2015 F150 2.7L V6 TURBO:
325 HP + 375 TQ
Case closed.
@@guy_incognito7538 I get that but the case will be open again at about 150k miles when the turbo needs replaced.
I hope im not upside down when i trade my 14 gm sierra i hate it!!!!
You don't have a Sierra. You're just a Ford fanboy trying to make ford look good.
MrRedskins0021 I work at Ford-Lincoln in AZ and we see Chevy trade ins all the time.
MrRedskins0021
lmao
At least gm still makes trucks unlike ford making oversized cars
That looked like the parking lot at Fiesta Texas Six Flags
I like the 2014 body style better
That is the nerdiest car reviewer I have ever seen.
How do thousands of F150 buyers afford $50,000 trucks that get 17 mpg?
WTF.... where is the big guy that reviews trucks.... This guy is... not a truck guy.
48k miles later. I have a 2015 Eco boost F150 Platinum. Just spent a ton of money on the piece of crap. Leaving it in my driveway to slowly rot away. :
NO 4wd Auto, Thats almost a deal breaker.
Ford's new F-150 will get a 10 speed transmission in 12 months.
Someone buy this guy a steak in texas, please!
They say the 2.7 get 19 city 26 highway. They lied im around 15 city. Gotta mash the gas every now and then.
Hold on, what is an "Inflatable seat-belt?"
Basically an airbag inside the seatbelt that inflates in a collision.
Says "Take a seat and see" then casually drives off...
I still don't see what people see in the F150. The only one Ive ever liked were the Harley versions.
Then you're not a truck guy, what kind of guy are you?
EscapeforMankind lol
Because he likes getting there and getting the job done at the same time lol^^^
thats the only one i didnt like
Tahoe front, Nissan dash and rear.
and 100% Ford
EscapeforMankind That's true to both the Ford haters and lovers. Lol
Ford seems to be going the way of making a big car, than making top trucks.
I get the whole fuel economy. But I don't like where ford, and everyone else for that matter is going for trucks. Yes, fuel economy is great to have. But They are making it more of a car than a dirt beast. I no like.
Pretty nice truck. Too bad the front looks like shit tho.
I like the front, unlike the gaudy chromed-out monstrosities the Ram and Silverado are
That guy should stick to reviewing video games or something leave trucks up to the big boys
i like that hair do !!!
50,000 for a truck that is mostly plastic in the front? Pass
ford have 12 f-150 model choose one & not all of them have plastic bumpers which is optional .
F-150s cost too much. Every F-150 at 3 different dealers are $40k+ Thats the true starting price. Avg price was $50k.
Protein dude...
the big guy does better truck reviews
If you want fuel mileage buy a Prius! But if you want to keep your man card, buy a truck an F*** the fuel mileage!!
i have to wonder where the fellow or lady that signed off on this thing is working now..... are you kidding me .....
Not a fan of this model. the front end just doesn't do it for me.
If Ford gave it an 8 speed and a diesel engine it would be perfect.
they gonna have 10 speed auto ( american made ) after 12 month .
Sure? Where did you hear that?
Yippie
they were working on it since 2012 so late 2015 or early 2016 it will be ready .
Cool that's great news. But I wonder if it will be able to handle the torque from the F-150's engines? You think the 10 speed could just be for their economy cars like the Fiesta and Focus?
Yippie
will if the ram V8 with 8 speed auto have excellent gas mileage with increased speed & torque which handling it very will so how about 10 speed ? i think you know .
why texas, of all places? Ebola, yo...
3 years from the performance of this is like a 150 year old.
Ford please put a diesel motor in it.
The EcoBoost is a $500 option, the Diesel is a $5000 option and Diesel fuel is more expensive.
Not Ford's Clientele.
Ford has the 3.2 Diesel, but they are betting on Ecoboost because their Diesel is uncompetitive. That's the reason the are backing down for now.
mp Provide a Link
EscapeforMankind What Ford is failing to realize is that there are plenty consumers that can afford the premium. Hey Ford... Bring it. We have money. I don't buy diesels because of fuel prices. I buy diesels because of the torque and ability to drive over 300,000+ on the same motor reliably.
Too big. This is just a "cure" for low self esteem. Where is the Dakota Ram CEO?
I cannot STAND this guy.
+Stevenson Nutgobbler youre an idiot lmao.
I'll stick with an all steel Silverado
No not even close to a tundra, by far the worst looking f150 that front grill is hideous ford shout call it "cattle guard in the wind"
Looks like a small Semi Truck to me
the tundra is ugly i can pull and get wayy more mpg than that weak looking tundra i raced a 5.7 on the 15 fwy in cali he exited the fwy and i barely stepped on it jajaja
can you say T O Y O T A?
ugly truck
Why would ford make a truck that looks like a Toyota tundra #gay
You think it looks like a Tundra, huh? Well, think for a second. The new F-150 looks just like the Atlas concept Ford debuted back in 2012, and Toyota hasn't had an original idea in almost 30 years. Now, I understand that the Tundra made it to market first but who really copied who? #dontbestupid
A shit way to smart off a review by mocking a culture.
Great the interior still behind silvardo and ram sigh
