Testament often gets overlooked in the "Big 4" shuffle, but over the course of a nearly 40 year career, these fellas have cranked out some of the most muscular, bottom-heavy thrash in metal. Their most recent offering, "Brotherhood of the Snake", is a beast!
@Gary Miller Speaking as a huge Testament fan in the 80s and 90s (owned their 1st four albums) there is a reason why Anthrax is in the Big 4 and not Testament, and that reason is simply Anthrax was the bigger name at the time, thanks to I Am The Man, and their rap crossover getting them more mainstream coverage.

Sorry, but not quite. I am a Savatage fan and Their original lead singer Jon Oliva and producer Paul O’Neill invented the concept. The first cd came out in 1997. Alex was in the project a long time, with two stints, but he didn’t join until 2000. Savatage was also the base band for the project (And still is to this day.) along with a multitude of musicians in two touring groups.
Ha ha, just like you said, Testament over Anthrax! Been saying this since they established the big 4! So many great Testament tracks to choose from, enjoy the ride👍😁
Too many seem to confuse "Big 4" with "Best 4". They're called the Big 4 because those four bands are the "biggest" in terms of album sales, chart position, concert draw, etc. I agree that bands like Testament, Exodus, Metal Church, Overkill, et al rock just as hard and deserve a place in the conversation. However, none had commercial success on par with the big 4 bands
Saw these live in 91 at NEC Birmingham UK at the Clash Of The Titans World Tour with Suicidal Tendencies, Megadeth and Slayer. Absolutely awesome show.
The second concert I ever went to was TESTAMENT, Green Jello, and Pro Pain. First mosh pit too. Twenty years later I saw ANTHRAX, TESTAMENT, and Death Angel. Check out their song Native Blood. Great video. Also, check out Death Angel. Another great but overlooked band.
Yes indeed, there’s a handful of stormers of their first album but that track is fucking excellent, great performances all through the band. The solos are incredible.
Glad you finally got around to Testament! You can't go wrong with them... check out anything from their first two albums The Legacy and The New Order. Also The Ritual, Low and the list goes on..... \\m//
Testament changes allot and that is a good thing. For instance Chuck Billy, the lead singer, sings death metal growl style in both Low and Demonic albums. Which both are damn good btw, but specifically you should check out Demonic Refusal on their Demonic album, it quite awesome
