Well Evan you inspired me to lose 50 pounds and drop my handicap by 10 in 6 months all while reconnecting with God once again. I'm also sure you inspired many others and will continue to do that so thanks for that.
Genuinely I hope that you continue to more of these videos, watching you play a round whilst just talking is so refreshing it's unreal, + I have recently (due to personal issues) re-found god and seeing this video today felt like a sign saying to stay with him. You may not care but I'm going to start a fitness grind now (no real plan I'll have to figure that one out) and in a month or so sill update you on how you've impacted my life for the better. Just know you haven't only helped me there are more of us out there. Much love
Evan I played college golf at Wake Forest and understand the game fairly well . Go back to the basics and put the pressure on the preparations and not the events . Be patient and know and believe that you will play your best golf at some point and it will be good enough to compete with the very best . Ask yourself before playing each shot what the very best shot would look like if you were to execute it . Your mind will process an image of it and just visualize it over and over in your mind . See the shot in your mind you want to hit and play less mechanically and more visually . You will be amazed how exact some shots will mirror exactly what you visualize some days . Good luck and keep working hard .
I started three Midwest seasons ago and bust butt to get better. Time in the gym, time at the range, as many rounds as I can and sim time in the winter months. Have made it to a 12 handicap so far. I want to get a lot better and often get frustrated when I make a less than optimal shots. The guys that are the best at this game are able to shake it off and take it one shot at a time. I think that's a good lesson as well as playing the miss and keeping expectations tempered. I refer to the game of golf as "The relentless pursuit of the unobtainable". I guess that's why I love it. It's a process like you said. Keep grinding. You have youth and talent on your side. You've got this. Just a side thought here. Being in the military and in construction for decades had me exposed to and unfortunately participating in colorful language more often than I like to think about. I can only imagine how football was. You like the book of James? Me too. One of the hardest things to do is to temper is that tongue. I say this with love. Friggen is just a substitute for you know what. Find a better way. You're better than that. God Speed.
You are a beast. I didn't know you played linebacker, D1! People would kill to have your talent (I am jealous). Ive seen a few videos of you playing golf. Your game is amazing. Your attitude is what really makes you special. You are genuine, polite, and positive. Seems like you've found a little niche on RUclips. Best of luck to you. I'll keep watching you man. Hallelujah!
I want to tell you that I’m proud of you for being open, honest, and vulnerable. That verse in James is great to keep in mind throughout the day. I believe in you! Keep going and keep grinding!! Someone sent this to me and I figured I’d share it with you (it’s in all caps because I just copied and pasted it here): KEEP GOING!! BECAUSE THE PERSON IN HEAVEN DOESN’T WANT YOU TO QUIT!!! Remember that Jesus knows what he’s doing in and with you and He’s not shocked or surprised. I believe this was meant to happen, not just for your benefit, but for others as well. My wife and I will continue to be praying for you!!
Evan- When life gives you persecution and tribulation and has you at your lowest or weakest point is actually your strongest point man. Recognizing those points to make them your strong points, at the same time of being content with your blessings you have already. I’m learning too and maneuvering the negativity to positivity.
As a athlete myself and former college football player I think you're doing an incredible job of being your TRUE self... People don't understand how hard it is to find your place in this world after football.... wish I could do what you're doing and have the confidence you have with this game because this game will humble you so fast! You're one hell of a golfer and you seem to be an even better man family! Keep going!
Stay strong man……perception is everything, I actually watch your videos and envy your ability to always be so upbeat and positive man. I wish I had that on the course on the tough days
@@evanthompsongolf Just keep doin you then my guy.......and also this round is looking great (23 minutes into it). Anyways, yeah it's your attitude and excitement for things that keeps me watching so keep going and don't loose the "fun" in it though. Take care!
Started golfing a month ago and making content of my journey in learning the game. Evan is one of those guys I hope to get a chance to play with one day. Respect for putting yourself out there in the beginning.
Hey man! You're just in a slump right now, I know you'll push through it. You've set high standards for yourself and I respect that. I hope you reach levels that exceed your expectations. As a new golfer It's honestly nice to see someone that maybe isn't as polished as other creators, it's more relatable. You give us great content, you're insight and thought process about the game has helped me and many others. Keep grinding! Loved the Kyle Berkshire video. Excited for what's to come!
been really struggling mentally as well my man, getting back right with the big man upstairs has been huge saving grace 🙏 keep grinding bro i see how great you will be!
Yo. MN native here, rly enjoyed watching your scores at Hazeltine and Chaska @ the end of the summer, you were in some elite company with that field and that’s something to be proud of. Keep your head up and the best is yet to come!!
Man bad comments can be a killer. You don’t want negative thoughts to enter. You’re a beast! You’re going to be in the pga and millionaire sub channel! Your content is the best!
Hey brother I am approaching 40. I really appreciate your message. Thank you for all that you’ve done for golf. God bless and have yourself a great day.
I too (Sherm) shot the lowest round of my life, and won two tournaments in the same week. That was back in July and I didn’t have another win or rounds anywhere near those rounds. Now our season is over and I floated up to a 6.4 hcp. This game is crazy man, and you just have to roll with it, and try to get better and that’s what you’re doing. Trust in the word and the work. It’ll get better. Also we’re big L.A.B. people on this channel, and you need to give it time, because you’re not used to actually swinging the putter back and forth straight like most all of us. You have to practice enough trying to visualize what the NEW “straight” actually is. Getting the LAB actually got me personally fired up enough to get better at reading putts with “aim point express” and it’s pretty good man. You might want to look into that. Happy Thanksgiving and good luck. We hope to get a round you sometime next year. We pray that our business plans come through for us, but we’ll be reaching out for sure if we have good meetings over the next few days.
Evan, love that you started this video out with getting in the word. As you said, the Good Lord has you in this season for a reason and sometimes it’s hard to see exactly what that is when you’re at the lowest moment. Despite that, I’ve seen through your channel that the Lord has placed and trusted you as a seed in the golf community to share his love and his message, which is such an amazing honor if you ask me. Despite your golf game being at a low point, he is faithful and true and is the only one who will provide true joy and peace. And golf will never be able to fulfill that part of you, only him. I’ve learned that the hard way. Keep getting after it brother, through the highs and lows he is faithful!
keep your head up bro, competitive people are always the hardest on themselves but channel the positive vibes, take the small wins, learn from the Ls, and you will dig out of this for sure.
Brother, when you have the swing it feels like you will never loose it, when it’s gone it feels like you will never get it back. Keep going!!! Never surrender
I’ve heard good things about the hack motion and developing a putter stroke. I use the base software for the full swing but I’m tempted to upgrade for that putting. As far as the putter itself, the lab will be tougher to feel the club face direction. You have to almost shut off your muscles and let the putter do it. That might be tougher for you, having as much muscle as you do. I’d recommend evnroll with the gravity grip. I have the er7v with the short plumber neck and a lab 2.1 and the evnroll is an easier to just pick up and putt club. Practically opposite of the lab with the gravity grip. Lab takes practice and adjustments to use, but it’s what I’ve switched to full time and it’s working great for me. Edel putters and their alignment theory have peaked my interest though. I figure it should be easier to hit the line if you can see the line correctly when over the ball.
Great message, great round. Lost track of birdies, a couple bogeys ain’t bad..no big numbers. If I was your caddie I would’ve said Evan center of the green on a few of the holes! But it worked out..those par 3’s are tough. Enjoying the content dude. No real suggestions just keep playing, game for a lifetime..
Evan. I feel ya man, I struggled for a while with my job and family. God put me thru the ringers but he knew what he was doing. Now I’ve never been happier and my family is my biggest blessing. I love ya man and would talk to ya about anything you’re going thru. Your story is so close to mine. It took me two years to finally let go and give my heart to the lord wholeheartedly and man what a blessing he is.
A positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible. Keep the chin up. Keep the focus. With every setback, allows for an even better comeback! Let's get it! I'll be moving to Marietta within the next 2months. Hopefully we'll get a round in or 2 if our schedules permit.
Evan, I can relate to the struggle-I've been working to get my game back on track for a while now. I’m hitting the ball well, but I sometimes play a bit too aggressively. My handicap typically sits around 1.5, but I’ve been pushing to get it down to scratch. It’s frustrating being so close, yet still feeling like things aren’t quite clicking. Keep playing and serving the Lord in what you do. If you’re ever in the north Phoenix area, I’d love the opportunity to play a round with you. It would be great to hear your perspective on both production and the game. Plus, I always enjoy competing against players who challenge me and help elevate my game.
Hey man keep your head up! The lord always works in mysterious ways. Just think every bad shot is a chance to pull off an amazing shot! Little is big bubba, limit the damage, and have fun. A tip I use on my putting is keeping the putter as low to ground as possible when I take the putter back! Try it out let me know what you think. Trust yourself and your game. I hope to play a match in the future!
Hey man, keep on, sometimes God gives us more than we can handle, but it's never more than He can handle! You are an athlete, business owner, content creator, soon to be husband, you are taking on a lot but keep on! 💪 Prayers for you and your family.
Man i know what you mean with putting. I feel i hit the ball so well but i put so much pressure on myself to get it close because my putting has been so bad. Its so embarrassing to be putting the way i have that i almost feel like apologizing to the people im golfing with. I thing ive niticed with a lot of RUclips golfers is when they try to explain what they are going to do then theyll say come on let do something good then completely flub it. I feel it must be hard to explain the shot then hit it without putting a bunch of pressure on yourself. I love your vids. Keep it up.
Evan, i've been here since you started posting regularly ... i cant stand that you get so much hate. the internet is full of crap people who are pretty miserable with their own lives. just know that there are lots of people out here who do enjoy your content and seeing your journey from mid-LB to golf... keep going dude.
Evan to me looks like you have the physical ability to play the game professionally and be successful. Tighten up the short game wedges, putter , bunkers etc… as you know golf is hard and has its ups and downs. Keep believing and remember it’s a game to so have fun! As a practicing Christian Would probably stop saying freakin” 20x in a video as we all know what it is slang for!
Well if you can wade through the negative comments you’ll get to the people that truly care for you and appreciate you. Some people are full of hate and release it on innocent people for no reason. God Bless you man and keep grinding. Your faith and vulnerability are not only brave but inspiring! ❤️
Evan, whatever hate you’re getting is obviously all BS because you’re not doing anything to warrant the hate. Just ignore it and keep doing you. You coulda shot a 63-65 today if you just cleaned up a few putts- to play this good after being vulnerable and being in a rut just proves you still got it man. Keep pushing we’re rooting for you!
You and Bryson D should have a series where he turns you into a pro golfer. I really think his knowledge and your raw talent would be fun! Keep grinding bro!
Bro you know what you bring to the table. Dont lose your faith or happiness because of some pukes talking crap on the internet. They only see what you want them to see. You got this homie. And i dont even watch you much but men need to stop tearing other men down, man. Its hard enough being a man.
If you're doing something right and succeeding you will always get hate! People will try take others down to make themselves feel better. Keep grinding!
Evan, keep working brother. And I know you the like flow necks and I have mentioned this before, but seriously check out that newport 2.5+ model from scotty cameron if the lab doesn't end up working. Sets up nice and has good forgiveness. Give that a shot sometime!
Evan, as a professional trainer in the mind and in Golf for over 37 years. Let me explain something to you number one. You're a fine gentleman who's a God. Fearing God loving man that goes a long way second thing if you keep experiencing greatness, well, there really is no other way but down. But if you have Downs and you have Ops, the only thing you're looking for is stability, you're a great young man. I've been watching you for a period of time. And I do not write in comment sections at all. Especially being teaching pro for the P Jl PJ and many other people for numerous years. I do not comment But I've been watching you. I like you. I think you have an extreme amount of talent. But there's a thing called help. We all need sometimes. It's just a talk, a walk. There's sometimes just to glance at each other. You're going at it alone, even though you may think you got people behind you. When you're on that course, you are completely by yourself, especially mentally. But if you're trained properly on where to go, dig up the information, it all comes from you, but the secret is, how can I go to myself? And get the proper answers. Well, it's the same thing as if he guessed between 4 or 5 iron. Is it really the 4 or 5 iron? Or is it just a little hotter or a little softer? This is something we will debate for the end of time, but the mind is undebatable. For this is the reason it has to go backwards. In order to penetrate forward, it is not an ongoing constant growing organism. Like you do with muscle mass and memory, even though it is a muscle and it has the most memory It also has memory of things that you may not even be remembering if you can understand that reach out if you can and if you'd like, I'd be more than willing to give you some great information, have a sit down and I'll tell you another thing I will guarantee you in 12. Months with me or less, I'll have you on the tour. I have made so many people get through q schools. And so many people make it on the tour underneath my guidance, and because I hear the way you speak and I love when you are with grant and you said that you love Jesus. I would be willing to offer you services. We would then come to a conclusion once you get onto a very winning track this. I vow this, I promise, and I bet you no one would ever make a deal like that with you. The reason is, we have a very common common common boundary. We both are god-fearing loving men of Jesus and understand the only way to open the door is with the help of our brother. I hope to hear from you kid and I only say, kid, because I'm 56 years of age, you could be my son, but I would like to tell you, you're not a kid you're acting very mature. I just say that due to your age. But if you need me, i'm right here, my name is Frankie, B OE
Don't pay no mind to the haters bro. They're sad small people who's sole purpose is to solicit a negative response. There's much more positivity on your page than the haters.
Very nice video. It is important we men to remember that we can be vulnerable, it helps not only us but other men as well. God will never give you more than you can handle! God gives you adversity because he knows you can handle it! Keep your head up!
I think yourself talk can be a ton better as well. I think more "this shot may not work out. So where do i have the best chance of getting a birdie or par if I do miss" and shocks that area a bit more. Then if my shot is perfect then I'm really going to be in a perfect position. If it doesn't work then I'll be able to get up and down because i trust my wedges big time. More than my approach shots for sure. Also one thing that has really helped me finish way lower. Id not trying to max out a certain club (other than my 7iron full speed at 185 yards because i trust it) but normally I'll club up and choke up or just swing a tad slower and smoother and really focus on that contact point on my club face. Wedges around the green i use a 55 degree for almost every shot and the bunkers in the bunker. 60 for short approach shots and if i want it to really go high and land soft on a hard sloped green and thing. But ya being about to hit a distance with 3 different clubs by the feel of your hands and speed of swing. That's really what i have focused on. No range finder or anything like that. Now I'm in a sim league and had to adjust to that big time. But since i am now in 3rd place currently. So i really think that has helped me a ton. I shot a 29 with my handicap last week and am waiting for the standings to change. But my first round was +29. I wanted to quit and I was so embarrassed because my expectations were falsely high. I stayed dedicated and now I'm pretty sure I'll move to 2nd or 3 1st. So the mental side and the feels are everything imo
Evan, just take a couple weeks off and recharge then batteries. Sometimes athletes can get so super focused going everyday non stop. Put the clubs down a couple weeks - you’ll come out rolling. That being said, you’re a hell of a golfer and human being. Keep going young man !!!!
Hey brother....i am a hacker that plays once a week shoe times twice and I feel your pain. My msn ET been putting in the work!!!!! Love your vulnerability Ev!
Absolute stud. Keep grinding
keep grinding brotha golf is a tuff game i believe you will bounce back better than before. Keep grinding❤️🩹
Evan,
I can relate to the struggle-I've been working to get my game back on track for a while now.
God has a plan! Keep pushing bro. We got this
Hey man keep your head up!
Stay in the moment and keep those emotions in check don’t get too high or too low
Crazy power!!!!!!👍👍👍👍
You and Bryson D should have a series where he turns you into a pro golfer. I really think his knowledge and your raw talent would be fun! Keep grinding bro!
That would be an incredible series- who knows what the future has in store!
@ when it happens I’ll get to say I called it 🤞🏽 much love bro keep grinding. God has a plan for you! 🙏🏼❤️
And Bryson mental strength
Bro you know what you bring to the table. Dont lose your faith or happiness because of some pukes talking crap on the internet. They only see what you want them to see. You got this homie. And i dont even watch you much but men need to stop tearing other men down, man. Its hard enough being a man.
Nailed your line on the 5th!
Focus on the positivity only, haters have no place man. Just do your thing
Keep going bro!! Your an absolute dog🔥🔥💪🏼💪🏼
That’s you bro!!
God is with you my brother
If you're doing something right and succeeding you will always get hate! People will try take others down to make themselves feel better. Keep grinding!
Everyone goes through this. Embrace the process
Evan is about to get rowdy on this course I knew he would brake par just because !!!😊
Never give up 💪
Evan, keep working brother.
And yes I do comedy lol just to release so things hope to hear from you
Mad respect!
Keep going man love the content! Inspired me to start a channel myself!
God has a plan for you man. Keep pushing ✝️
Keep you head up! You gonna get really good 🙏 just little hickup
Evan Thomson haters rise up!
Yo man! Jesus 24/7 brother. I'm in! Team Jesus!
Respect. 🙏
Man you absolutely stripe the ball. These comments can’t say nothing about that.
Short Memory in Golf can also do World of Good for if you Bogey 1 Birdie the next 2 Holes
Controlling the low point in golf is how you become an elite golfer! Jk bud, keep your head up kid! You have a lot of us rooting for you!
Hey Evan keep grinding man you’re a great fucking golfer! Look forward to seeing you on the tour!
I stayed dedicated and now I'm pretty sure I'll move to 2nd or 3
1st. So the mental side and the feels are everything imo
Couldn’t of said it better but I think you just needed to hear it yourself. God is great
There’s a light at the end of the tunnel Evan. You got it
Put on the full armor of God brother. You got this!
Evan, just take a couple weeks off and recharge then batteries. Sometimes athletes can get so super focused going everyday non stop. Put the clubs down a couple weeks - you’ll come out rolling. That being said, you’re a hell of a golfer and human being. Keep going young man !!!!
38:20 Had me dying bro
Would it be detrimental to your game to back off the swing a couple MPH to develop your strike? Or do you feel like your speed helps you?
Hey brother....i am a hacker that plays once a week shoe times twice and I feel your pain. Granted its not my career but I completely understand tit mental position doubting yourself, but please keep on pushing. Me n the wife love your content and your Christian values. Be strong brother, cause I can promise you fire every hater there are a hundred that really appreciate what your brining to the RUclips golf space. Sincerely mike.
You and Conner from Divot dudes would be a fun match. A couple dual sport athletes.
You inspired me to skip work tomorrow 42:05 and play a round at my local municipal course. See you on the tour!
Evan, These Individuals who comment Negatively just no they are talking mostly about there selves do not allow words of Hate to get to you. There are allot of people in this world that wish they had the Talent you have
