Alice Cooper said it best when he said "If the Devil were to appear before us, he wouldn't have a tail or a pitchfork and cloven hooves. Instead, he'd have the most perfect suit, he'd be the most handsome guy around, like Brad Pitt, and he'd be able to talk you into doing anything he wanted you to do." *paraphrased* Or as the saying goes, "The greatest deception the Devil ever performed was convincing us he didn't exist." Me, I am not religious at all , but I can respect Stryper for being around as long as they have and sticking it out, and for sticking to their guns and still promoting a positive message. Michael came off as a funny, friendly guy who is down to earth and totally not what I hate about most so-called "Christians" in America (mean, rude, hateful and hypocritical). More power to him, sez me!
I refer to Christians as hypochristians. They will always pray for you, but never actually help. Ask for money, but give none when needed. Pastors drive nice cars, have nice homes. All of them! show me one that does not. I am not a Satanist, I am speaking from experience and lessons. "You say that you will pray for me. You need to realize that you are PREY for me!" I love everyone, no matter sex, religion or creed, but I believe you just need to be a damned human being and take care of each other!
Thank you so much Elliot for interviewing one of my heroes Michael Sweet of Stryper. I’ve met him once a few years ago great guy and an absolute highlight for me.
Amazing interview, Michael is one of the greatest musicians in metal rock, music .great guitar player, great voice, also A great humble man with a great message
I'm not a religious person, but I've been a fan of Stryper for 30 years. Michael is a wonderful guy & hey, I've got no problem with a band that uses its talent to spread a positive message. More power to them. And now, back to my death metal.
There's no such thing as religion. That's a man made statement. Having a relationship with Jesus is different completely. And that's what Micheal Sweet is all about. He serves only one God.
Look at all the commenters wanting to split hairs. Guys, I seriously don't care. The point of MY statement is that there are those of us that can agree to disagree on ideologies & still appreciate each other. Have a good day.
I'm a follower of Jesus Christ and have listened to all kinds of music over the years, including just about every metal band out there. But at the end of the day,Stryper stands above them all. Thanks for your music Michael and yes,to hell with the devil.
Thanks for interviewing Michael Sweet. My favorite band is Stryper. I think another person that would be a great interview would be Brian "Head" Welch of Korn.
First of all, as an Atheist whose band years ago opened up for Stryper on a series of dates, I have to say there is no better double threat in rock than Michael Sweet (vocals/guitar), and his voice has actually gotten better over the years! I just saw them at the M3 festival in Columbia, MD on 5/5/18, and they were better and tighter than they were in the late 90's. Oz Fox is an amazing technical player with solid background vocals, and Robert Sweet is as technically solid a drummer as there is today. I have never been a lyrics guy, and I don't take stock of anyone's lyrics, but yes, if you're spreading a positive message, then kudos to you... The music, the technicality of the players, the melodies and the harmonies are absolutely the key to the Stryper sound, the message, for me, is just an arbitrary part of it...Pound for pound, best rock band out there!
Dan Dearborn a big problem I have with this interview is the concept of negativity and positivity. These things are subjective to every person and therefore it’s just too vague to say “don’t be negative”. For example, let’s say a kid listened to Stryper and was persuadable enough the become a Christian as a result. He or she then starts giving money to the Church and starts limiting the experiences he can have in this world, for example having sex with whoever he or she wants. That to me is extremely negative but to Stryper is extremely positive.
I would love to interview him or get to meet him in person! Great video! 😊 "All Christians misinterpret christianity, because we're imperfect." That's deep!
Jake Foxx I don’t think he said ‘misinterpret’, although sometimes they do. He said Christians are not perfect so we wreck Christ’s teaching up sometimes. Only Christ was perfect.
Stryper was the first concert that I had ever attended. I was 8 years old. Think that was back in 1986. Great show! Cheers to Michael and his band mates for making great music and continuing to do so! So neat that he is so positive and open minded. Great interview Elliot!! Any chance that maybe in the future you could do an interview with Cristina Scabbia Of Lacuna Coil or Anneke Van Giersbergen?
Well thought through Mr Sweet. In Heaven I hope I can jam with Michael, Oz and Robert. God is going to be there, I think we will be too much in awe of that.
As an atheist and former Christian I have a pretty strong dislike for anything to do with religion but I always enjoy Elliot's interviews so I stuck around through the whole thing. Elliot did a great job and Michael Sweet seems like a genuinely nice guy.

I have loved Stryper since childhood and always will. Cant wait for the new record the last one was amazing...and I listen to everything from Stryper to Slayer! Thanks lil punk I mean metal person.
Michael Sweet has an awesome voice. And Christian, or not - you have to give it up to Stryper. Some of their music is just good catchy rock n roll. Good interview little Elliott Dude! 🤘
My favorite song on the album is "Take it to the Cross" heavy and seriously took me by surprise when it kicked the chorus in. I'm old I remember when they started and couldn't wait to get an album when it would come out......And yes I love black, doom, death, prog, metal strange considering I believe I God. :)
I love Stryper. Metal is Metal. Christian message or not. If the band is spreading positivity and has talented musicians, then who cares! Keep it metal, horns up.
+Eastwood Unforgiven never...soldiers under command, the way, to hell with the devil ya real pop rock there. Alot of it is heavy and fast therefore you are talking out of your ass. Bet you couldn't name three songs.
I've been binge watching your interviews Eliot! Great questions for all the musicians you've interviewed. Love this interview with Michael Sweet. He has done SO much to spread positivity and the great message of Christ in his music and as you saw, he's a cool guy with a great sense of humor. You're awesome too and keep doing what you are doing. You're having a blast and have good parents that support what you do. Keep it metal and keep it fun!! :)
Michael is so spot in about Christians ( I am one, or a follower of Christ) people's biggest issue in my opinion is that as soon as u say Ur a Christian they THINK what Ur saying is 'im better than u and I'm a good person and Ur not' but that is not true we have God to put us straight that's it and we want to be better but we often fail! Jesus is perfect not me! I wish I was lol I often say this to people when I say I'm a Christian, I shouldn't really have to but I feel like I need to as the few bad eggs make all of us look real bad and it's not the truth at all about following God.
My favorite metal band of all time is Mercyful Fate and the lyrical themes of early MF are as satanic as it gets. However, that never stopped me from liking Stryper as I've never take lyrics very seriously in music. For me, it's just the way something sounds that makes me like it, and Stryper has some excellent melodies and riffs and songwriting so more power to them. and thank you Michael & Co. for the many years of great music!
wow! first I saw the band’s name and thought, “nah…it’s one of those christian bands” but after video started automatically and he spoke amazingly openminded; it made me feel ashamed about my stereotypical feelings. What a great dude! And Elliott, you are the best! I really like to watch your videos. Keep on going...And Go make an interview with the band Refused if you have a chance. I like those Swedes, you know :) Cheers!
I like seeing your confidence increase as time goes by and you get older. You were really nervous years ago when interviewing Keith Morris, for instance. I have to admit I don't know all these metal artists but I know Michael and Stryper. My brother saw them in the '80s here in their southern California home. He said it was pretty cool. "Christian metal" was almost a novelty but metal musicians took them seriously. A lot of opposition they got was from other Christians who thought embracing "the Devil's music" was embracing the Devil himself! Anyway, keep the faith, Elliot. God bless you.
Another awesome interview little dude!! I have a question for you. Where do you come up with your questions? Do you have one heck of a future in front of you. I'm sure your parents are very proud!
I believe as a species we are losing empathy towards others on a large scale. If people could just learn to see things from others' point of view I really believe we could solve or lessen many problems in the world. We're so divided right now and no one wants to compromise in any way.
Love you Elliott! You're a great interviewer and will have a long career because you probably too adorable for any Metal performer to say NO to. Michael Sweet is a great voice in the Christian community and the fact that he is so well respected as an artist, allows people to hear the gospel message to people who may not receive it otherwise. According to the Bible, Satan is here and so are his demons. Ephesians 6 says, to take up the full armor of God daily to be able to stand against the Devils schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the Heavenly realms. therefore put on the full armor of God so that when the day of evil comes you may be able to stand your ground. But be careful because Satan is the author of confusion and the father of lies. Satan's biggest scam is getting people to THINK he doesn't exist. If he can make you believe this, then you wouldn't have a need for a Savior. If Jesus isn't your personal Lord and Savior, Satan has authority to set himself up in your home and by default is the Lord of your life. Elliott, I know that many people who you interview are not Christians and I don't want you to be deceived by Satan. God is a Judge and everyone will be judged by Jesus. His standards are much higher than Our standards. By the standard of God, anyone who has told a lie, stolen anything, regardless of it's value, used God's name as a curse word. These are just 3 of the 10 commandments. So, for example, say you committed a crime and you were guilty and had to go before a judge and by the judge, you were found guilty of the crime. He would give you a punishment. Let's say you robbed a bank. He could give you 15 years in Jail. You know that Jesus was perfect and was God in the flesh. He came and performed all kinds of miracles, so that people would recognize Him as the Lord and Savior that was prophesied about in the old testament. He fulfilled all of the prophecies about Him. He went, knowing that He had to be a blood sacrifice and die a brutal death on the cross. Before He died, He was whipped 39 X's on His back. The Bible says that by His stripes we are healed. Now if you check in the medical field, all diseases are listed under 39 categories. Coincidence, no way. Through Jesus anything can be healed, even Our problem of DEATH! He died on the cross and spoke the exact same word's prophesied, in Psalms 22. Then they buried Him in a tomb. He was resurrected on the third day and showed Himself to His disciples. Over 500 people saw him alive after he had died! So as the example I used about the Judge and the bank robber. What if someone paid your way out of jail, so you didn't have to suffer? Would you accept? Of course you would, I know that I sure would. Well that's exactly what Jesus did for us, all of us. It's a free gift from God, because He loves you. The Bible says it's not God's will, that anyone should perish, but that everyone has everlasting life. But it's a gift and you can receive it today!!! No matter how old you are, tomorrow isn't promised. You asked Michael about Heaven and he gave you what he would like Heaven to be like. I love heavy Metal too, that's why I subscribe to your channel. This is what the Bible says about what Heaven looks like. (Revelation 21 :16 -21) The Angel measured the wall using human measurements, and it was 144 cubits thick. 18 The wall was made of Jasper, and the City of pure gold as pure as glass. 19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was Jasper, the second Sapphire, the third agate, the 4th Emerald, the fifth onyx, the six Ruby, the seventh chrysolite,, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the Eleventh Jacinth and the twelfth amethyst. 21 The 12 gates were 12 pearls each gate made of a single Pearl. The great streets of the city was pure gold, as pure as transparent glass. There's a lot more descriptions, like in one of the Gospels, Jesus says, I go to prepare a place for you that has many mansions. If it were not so I would not tell you this. All you have to do to become saved, is believe the gospel ,that Jesus died on the cross, was buried for 3 days, and rose on the third day to life. Ask Jesus to come into your life and to be your Lord and Savior. Then you have to repent of all past sins. Repent means to turn away from. Accept the free gift of Salvation from God. You can reject God. He doesn't want anyone who doesn't want to be with Him. I hate Religion, with a passion, but I do love Jesus. If you decide to accept Jesus, I would recommend a N KJV bible. Every blessing to you and Michael.
Elliott: I truly hope you read this, you made me remember something tonight. When I first saw this, I was like... Stryper... pffffft I forgot my place as a metal fan and it doesn't matter what kind of metal makes your head bang but that your into metal and that makes it cool. I saw your interview with Micheal and was impressed with what you had to say about the music and then I went and listened to the song The Valley he spoke of and I have to say, the man still has chops and I was really impressed. So thank you for making this old metal head remember his place and that its about the music and not your ego. Thank you bud, I needed that
I have been a Strpyer fan since the 80s. Michael Sweet has been the glue to keep the band together while continuing his musical journey outside the band. A very talented individual indeed. Good job Elliot, I enjoyed this interview. Rawk on!
I love the power ballads of STRYPER. Since highschool. But how I wish they should write their songs longer. Like the actual contemporary rock song: 1st stanza => 2nd stanza => Chorus => Guitar Ad Lib => Chorus => End. Or, 1st stanza => 2nd stanza => Chorus => Guitar Ad Lib => Bridge => Chorus => End. Not like the short gospel type of song: 1st stanza => Chorus => Guitar Ad Lib => Chorus => End. \m/
Excellent video, kiddo! No joke, these guys have gotten better than ever. Great covers, great fast, loud power metal and speed metal, and yeah, I can even dig some of the ballads! I never thought I'd be so into Stryper, but I loved them as a kid and came back to them in recent years. I was shocked at how good they are! Always put them away in the back of my brain along with the shitty hair metal bands of the 80s, but they were never a glam band, and they always had at least one tippie toe in TRU METALLL. Seems like they've now gone back to metal for a full immersion baptism in the fiery waters of ROCK! I'm a leader of a new religion that kind of surpasses Christianity and fixes all its mistakes, but despite everything, I still love Stryper. And we're definitely going to incorporate huge celestial coffee machines and Mesa Boogie amps into our literature.
Michael is a high octane singer great songwriting and a positive Christian message, genius band. unique and great albums I got their whole discography on my phone and they are my Christian brothers, I salute them in their converting ppl to the absolute truth. !!!REPENT NOW!!!

Another fantastic interview Elliott! I ttuly enjoy your channel. Stryper has been one of my favorite bands since my youth. I love the great questions you ask that relate to the artist you're interviewing which shows great thought and researching. Keep up the great work Elliott! Hopefully one day we'll see THE ELLIOTT SHOW! Look out Eddie Trunk! Best wishes! God Bless!
How to fix negativity?? Michael jokes about getting rid of the internet, he's half right in my humble opinion. However, I'd probably start with social media. It's good and bad but, mostly bad. I think that social media is destroying the younger generation, in a big way too. Anyway, love Stryper, fan for life.
I like how you don't interrupt people when you interview them Elliot. You just ask a question, allow them to speak and then follow up with it. You're already better than 75% of grown adults who do interviews like this.

Michael is a really mature Christian... I am so grateful he has done this interview. May God bless him and his family, and Stryper !
👍🏻 🌟
I'm all for Stryper promoting a positive, pro-Christian message, and they can help a few heathens see the errors of their ways, all the better!
Wow. An interviewer that lets person answer a question without interrupting. Watch and learn.

Great job guys !!! 👍🏻
Great interview.
Elliott: I truly hope you read this, you made me remember something tonight.
When I first saw this, I was like... Stryper... pffffft
I forgot my place as a metal fan and it doesn't matter what kind of metal makes your head bang but that your into metal and that makes it cool.
Rawk on!
Whether you are a Christian, Atheist, or Satanist, you don't have to agree with their views. It's all about the music.
What a great video !!! Great little dude, intelligent and fun, and Mike, is always an awesome person, a very nice guy to talk to.
You did so well with this interview Elliot. Kudos to you.

I enjoyed it, thanks for a great and captivating interview!
Stryper rules!!!
As does Elliot... good interview!
And we're definitely going to incorporate huge celestial coffee machines and Mesa Boogie amps into our literature.
what a great guy!and an awesome musician to top it off!
My all time fave Stryper record is and will always be Against the Law, but God damn Evil is superb... definitely early 90's vibe. cheers JC/Miami
Against the law was a great record...love the song "lady"

Michael's not religious either. He's a Christian. There's a big difference between the two.
Absolutely!!!

What I think of as perfect, what you think of as perfect, doesn't matter. Heaven will be what God thinks is perfect.
Good interview little dude!
cool interview! Kudos...
Not a Stryper fan, but he was really nice.
i think i misunderstood stryper when i was young made me want to listen
I love metal, love Christ so Michael Sweet is great to have as a guest .
THE VALLEY LOVE ITTT PRAISE JESUS
