    I enjoyed this video. No real water areas in my area of the world. I enjoy watching you build stuff.

    If you haven't already, make sure to grease the flexible driveshaft, most boats come with dry shafts and they need to be greased. Cool boat!

    Wow what a find. Looking forward to the rest of the series! I went for a walk round my local lake the other day and saw a young lad and his dad playing with an RC boat. Being a quad flier myself I have fancied dipping my toe into boats at some point as well. In my small amount of research I saw this exact same boat on banggood and thought it looked like a good one for a possible fpv project over the winter. Once you've flown fpv you want everything fpv I get that and I do too! So fantastic news your doing this with the exact same boat I was thinking of doing it with so I will be watching this series for sure! Can't wait for the next one :)

      @@Painless360 Will do! Thanks. Exited to see how you get a flight controller in there as well this is exactly the sort of thing I wanted to do as well even if its only so I can see battery voltage in my goggles. I would definately worry about running it flat and losing the thing otherwise

    Float Controller. :D But aside from that, I recall that navigation with these is particularly tricky. That might have been a while ago, as Paweł Spychalski of iNav was recently experimenting with a rover. Worth checking out, looking forward to your take on this. :)

    I bought volantex sr65 couple of weeks ago for myself and kids. Upgraded to 60A esc, and 3000KV edf outrunner. And used 5200 4S lipo, instead of stock one. Great fun when screams along and skims water :-))

  • @HughD
    @HughD 3 года назад +1

    Lee, if you are sure it doesn't already have a reversing ESC, you'd definitely want to put that on your list. With a boat on a narrow waterway with no easy access to the other side all the time, you're going to need reverse. That means putting the throttle on the elevator so you'll easily have forward/reverse.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  3 года назад

      Stay tuned ;)

    • @HughD
      @HughD 3 года назад

      Actually, now that I think about it, since you don't spend much time at all in reverse on a boat a switch would handle it fine leaving your throttle as it is.

    • @droneracer
      @droneracer 3 года назад

      Reversing the prop on a boat with a flexible shaft isn't recommend, I think because the twist in the cable shaft acts as a Archimedes screw pump when running backwards, flooding the boat.

    • @charlesmcguire9711
      @charlesmcguire9711 3 года назад

      I wonder if the 1500 throttle start point is because the esc has reverse already?

    Good to see you moving over to the dark side Lee. As you are a flyer may I suggest you check out a Dragon Flight 65, but be careful, they are highly addictive and rather difficult to master. If you don't/haven't sailed before the learning curve is shallow to get going and darn steep to master. I would LOVE to see you review one even if it was just for a one time adventure, I am sure Mike at Radiosailing.co.uk would make a kit available for you. Our sailing/racing hobby is an amazing social and sporting club and loads of fun. Surface RC for glider lovers.

    The idea with a flightcontroller is interesting, you can do things like a virtuel anchor (loiter mode), an interesting thing if you put the a flight controller in a bigger boot( 17feet for fishing). You get at lot of possibilities... It looks like ardupilot has many options...

    Would you consider having the FPV camera sitting on a small servo and address a channel on your Taranis to turn it? It is a great add-on to be able to see not only forward but to see where is your opponent if you racing. I have installed such setup on my micro crawler. Traxxalu on YT has many such installs (even two axis gimbal) on almost every single one of his vehicles.

    Not easy to manage throttle command on your radio like you do it , normally you need to use the spring stick of the radio , at full power you will need to react quickly on the throttle, a pistol Rc would be more easy to use .

      @@Painless360 The last time I put an action camera on a boat I wrapped it in cling film.
      Stretched over the lens, it is completely invisible and being flexible, allows you to press buttons, etc.
