    Yes! Took me a while to figure out how to set it by the GPS, but it works awesome. This is great for flying with buddies. Hardest part was working out the XOR logic for the logical conditions.
    You need a logic condition for each range (so, is range > where you want it to switch), and then you need an additional logic condition that is XOR so you know when one range is tripped but not the next one. So mine trip at like 100, 500, and 1000 meters. That’s logic 0 1 and 2. Then logic 3 is an XOR for logic 1 and 2. So it tells you it’s more than 100m but less than 500 (because it’s impossible for it to be over 500m and less than 100m at the same time). And that XOR condition is what you use to trip the VTX power.

    YES!!! I've recently tried and failed to setup both of vtx power and flaperons on logical conditions. So this and pavels video about flaperons were very timely. Now if you could somehow get the inav devs to make the Mac os version work better, I'd have a inav fc in all my fixed wings.

    • @NoAgendaFPV
      @NoAgendaFPV 4 года назад +1

      Pawel is the Configurator dev, and I am guessing he just doesn't use Mac. The biggest thing people miss about iNav development is that the Devs do everything for free, so if it is something that they have time to do then they will, or if it is something that impacts them then they will. However if Pawel doesn't have a Mac then it would be hard to develop and test for it.

    Hi Lee, given that you can change the vtx power dynamically using the bi-directional s.port function and base it on telemetry values e.g. gps distance you could also do this in OpenTX. I guess another example of multiple ways to do things. Be great when the logicals become more powerful. Keep up the great work ... Les.

    Lee, this is fantastic info, and you have just solved a big problem for me! I am building a plane, but i really want to use Ardupilot for the flight control. That left me with a problem or two - how to remotely switch the recording on and off on my Runcam Hybrid, plus, how to change vtx power levels. The first i solved in a rather unusual way - i happened to have a spare Omnibus F4 Nano kicking around with nothing to do. So, i wondered if it would be possible to run it via sbus from the same rx that controls my main flight controller. I think sbus is a one way only signal - ie sends data from the rx to the flight controller without receiving anything back. So, in theory i could connect two different flight controllers to the same rx without issue. I done a lot of testing and discovered this does seem to be the case. So i have Ardupilot on my main f/c, and i have iNav on the second. Then i simply connected the Hybrid control wires to the iNav board and configured iNav to control my camera. I then used a free channel on my Taranis (that was not controlling anything on the Ardupilot f/c) and used that to control the camera via iNav.
    Now this is where the info in this video comes in handy - i could not work out a way of controlling the vtx via Smart-Audio. I did come up with some wild idea of using a camera video switcher to switch my fpv signal to the video output on the iNav, then i would be able to access the Smart-Audio menu via the sticks, but that is not a good idea in flight, the plane being controlled via Ardupilot would be freaking out when i was moving the sticks for a start, plus of course i would lose my fpv video image. But i think you have just solved my problem! Use a spare channel and a spare 3 position switch on my Taranis, to switch the power levels via the iNav, all i would need to do is connect the Smart-Audio lead from the vtx to the correct output on the iNav controller. Thank you Lee, just the kind of info i needed. It is still a bit of a roundabout way of doing it, but until Ardupilot start to incorporate support for things like Smart-Audio and the Runcam control protocol it will have to do. Hopefully that sort of thing will come Ardupilot eventually. A bit like osd support, Ardupilot stayed well away from that for many years, until finally adding it over the last year or so.

    Great explanation, it's working brilliantly power switching on my Hifionrc VTX, I connected and configured it temporarily on UART3, but I use it on my Omnibus F4 and this one only has 3 UARTS on it, UART1 for CRSF receiver, UART6 for GPS and UART3 is occupied by the magnetometer SCL/TX3 and SDA/RX3. But my question is, can I use the SPI interface for the magnetometer, so I can use the UART3 for the VTX?

    Changing power by distance, RSSI, or LQ was something I immediately thought of when I thought about what would I do with this. Another one I had thought of without seeing if there was a way as if the plane was in failsafe, set to loiter RTH and the battery goes below a certain value to force a landing attempt. Shouldn't need it very much as failsafe normally are distance and obstacle triggered and coming back towards home should recover command. BUT if there was a hard failure of the TX then I would want my wing to try to land at home instead of eventually floating off. Guess could do a slight bank with a little down elevator and have it circle down to earth but figuring out if you could do it would be interesting.

    INAV development is obviously interest driven, as it is freeware. Can you tell us about the interest in making it operational for boats with two engines (diff thr) for instance? Pavel made an airboat some time ago, but he also mentioned, that INAV onboard was not able to do RTH with only two axis' available. Is the intention to make INAV supersede Ardupilot and Ardurover in the long run? Do you know roughly how many people are working on this development?
