You know you take your RC boat hobby seriously when you build a RC crane to lift and launch your RC boat instead of just placing it in the water like everyone else. 😂

With that said, I would NEVER take my hobby as far as these people. I do it to have fun with my family/friends, not to act as though it is made of diamonds.

I used to have a Coast Guard fire/rescue boat with a working water cannon mounted on the fore deck. The small lake I took it to had Swans swimming around. I made a couple of casual passes at them with my cannon spraying. They avoided me easily. There were little kids there, too, so I didn't want to traumatize them or set a bad example, so, I didn't press it, lol
These are nicer and work better than my car!

Plus, what you said is a gross oversimplification of attaining ownership of a boat and the maintenance of a boat. Besides, these guys like doing this and they probably CAN't afford a half million dollar+ boat. And maybe they can, but don't want to spend the ridiculous amounts it costs for yearly maintenance.
