- Subwaterfilm Crash - HUNTER in big Waves - followed by the AZIZ
-------------------------------------------
English: (Deutsch steht unten)
Once a year in November the "Buesumer Modellshippers" organize a very special oppertunity for ship-model-captains. A chance to let their boats navigate through an active wavepool! So ships can trial their seaworthiness and show how they behave in big waves....!
We did film with a 50p (50 full pictures a minute) Cam from the Edge of the pool, with a 100p Cam from the Supply Vessel AZIZ following the HAPPY HUNTER and with a small handheld cam from the surface. (Have a look at the small making of: • SlowMo beim Filmen der... ) For our equipment have a look blow into the links...
As both vessel are manovering at the edge of their possibilitys one or the other crash is not avoidable... but also it looks quite dramatic because of the slow motion settings, nothing did get damaged there :-)
If you liked, what you saw.. just give us a thump up and share this video... also we like reading comments and try to respond to each single one! Thanks a lot!

Deutsch:

Hi Landon,
thanks for your comment,
greeting Bilge from Subwaterfilm
...and of course you can ask :-)... Both the "Aziz" and the "Happy Hunter" are build in 1:50; which makes them a bit over one Meter in length each...
Wou...Das nenne ich Modellschippern. Einfach super. Daumen ganz hoch
Would be interesting to see this tug towing a heavy model floating dry-dock - to scale - in these waves.
Hi Miniship100, vielen Dank!
I have watched this many times . And I find it most interesting , how well these ships handle this rough conditions . But don't you think , it's a lot of trouble to go to , just to wash the decks ?
:-) wish you well, from wales Britain .
Exactly the same thing for me, thats like cool investigation to Now why and how they move
Not gonna be washing decks in those conditions.

I really do find watching and filming these videos really satisfying, too!! Hihi.. otherwise I wouldn´t be able to get a video online every wednesday for more than five years now O:-)...

Mr. Washington, I'm honored to hear this from you ;-),.... thanks a lot for your nice comment, I'm really glad, so many of you like it, thank you!
Thank you for your nice comment, bigredc222! And yes it was really great fun! Both ships used in this clip where build from kits and slightly modified to cope with the "heavy seas" :-) and of course to fit the camarasystem. The owner of this wavepool for humans allows to use it for model events, and once a year they organize a big exhibition where, if there are interested modelbuilders, the wave machine gets switched on and allows in relative security to explore the possibilitys, which is great!

Fortsetzung..
Some great footage. I think the ships' crews would be very very sick on those vessels if they were in real seas.
So fun to watch!
It depends on your preparation of the boats. As you might have seen at the end of this clip the superstructure of the Happy Hunter did jump off quite some centimeters. There are surprisingly strong forces at work when such a Ship gets pushed around... so, if not everything is well stowed and fixed the answer to your question is..yes, they flip and sink. But lucky nothing of this has happens to my boats :-)
How were the waves/rough water created?
@@Erin-Thor through a wave generator MASHINE the board are in a wave pool
Its where they test storm events with rc ships and see how dangerous it could be sailing in a storm with big waves
Hey, I want to remind you that God loves us. His miracles are real. Just trust Him and always pray. If you are experiencing depression, anxiety, lack of finances, or anything that makes you doubt yourself, just remember that we have God and he will provide for our needs. Nothing is impossible for God; just keep your faith in Him and don't stop praying
Again, hi John :-), thanks for all your comments, I like it, when someone really looks behind the contend of our clips. It's not easy to answer your question, both have pros and cons. in choppy water I would think, the Aziz would handle better. The Happy Hunter would be the one more easy to manoeuvre. They are so close to each other, it's really hard to say. Both are great in bad weather...and I like them both nearly equally. so it's up to you...;-)
Rrrrrytrrtrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Thank you, 8070jack, thats a very nice comment and I'll keep it in honor :-) It was indeed very fascinating to steer her through the waves! Thank you for taking your time to write this down...
Very cool video. Nice test tank.
*Insert pirates of the Caribbean theme
Hihi... yep, Slash Mortal Kombat,... that would make it awesome! Sadly the Pirates of the Caribbean Theme is under licence and quite expensive... and already the licencing of the "normal" music I use is quite a problem... but as we do them in slow motion, we need a soundtrack to cover all those slow "Ahhhhwwweeeeesss" and "Wwwweeeeeehhhhhhs" ...
Thanks and best wishes!

+Subwaterfilm Hi, is the Happy hunter still in service? Also, have you lost any ships like have any of your ships sunk?
+Rubber Ducky The Big Duck Hi Rubber Ducky, the HAPPY HUNTER Model is still running, the original HAPPY HUNTER, sadly, not. She was sold to Smit and after some years of service as SMIT HUNTER she caught fire while being refurbished an the whole superstructure burned out. After that she got scraped :-(.
And about your second question...actually yes. I did lose a very small offshore supply vessel in my early days. But not because of a storm-ride :-). out helped to assist a big modelship who's engines suddenly came to live. Maybe that's, why I do build my models in such a stable weather resistant way :-)
thanks a lot for watching and if there are any more questions...just drop them into the comments :-)

Cool rc ships
Yes, it's faszinating to compare the behaviour of our small ones to the Originals!
If you have a closer look at the Aziz when coming down into the wave trough you can even see her bow swing and vibrate like the Original.... Thank you for your comment, Pete.
i wish I had a wave pool so I could jump my rc speed boats from wave to wave I have no doubt that they could do it they are definitely fast enough.
a video like that would be really cool w/an onboard cam...

Hi Hobbykapitaen, vielen Dank.
Thank you for your comment, Bob. That's what I also thought, so I filmed the material with 50 or even 100 Frames a second and slowed it down to 30-20% of the original speed... also more would even look more realistic (more "heavier") it would become framy.. if you are interested in this, have a look into the "making of" where I experimented with different speeds...you'll find the link in the description of this video or on my channel :-)
Hi Joe, the most important thing is to get the heavy weights like batteries and machineries as down as possible. And of course you have to secure everything to prevent water intrusion and loss because of wavehits. I once dived up an large modelboat where a small tiny hatch flew away and the whole ship sunk because of this.
In the next week I will upload a small clip about the modifications I did to my models... if you´ve got further questions, just ask :-)
I got one of these I would like to sell
Mammoet is a Dutch ship it comes of the Netherlands and it takes sunken ships to above water that ship is from me land
Mammoet is the “Happy Hunter“,... later the famous “Smit Hunter“... which sadly cought fire while staying in a yard. But she's an all Dutch-Story 😊👍
And a great ship!
Thanks.. :-)

Hi, thank you very much. 🌊🌊🌊🛳🌊🌊🌊⚓️🌊🌊 Greetings Bilge from Subwaterfilm
You should do a build of the Edmund fitzgerald...that would be fun to see it in a wave pool
Yes, CJ SIXFIVENINE, she would certainly make a great picture! Especially if one would build her in around 5 to 6 feet length! As it says,.. never say never :-) I might think about building a big one as her once,.. but now I still have a cruseship and quite a bunch of smaller vessels on my modelyard wich will keep me buisy for quite a while... :-(. Sorry,.. but thanks for you suggestion, I can really imagine her to stomp through the waves :-)....
Hey how do you make these boats and what material do you use as well as motor and electronics
G36C
+Ricky Lopez Hiho...hi Ricky Lopez,... 👍
Do you know how much is cost to make an rc boat kit? Over 1000$ and you have to know woodworking electronics and fabrication so unless you have experience will all those things, don’t even bother.
Yep,.. constructing a buildingkit is quite a work. Before trying this, you should have gained quite some building experience 😉👍
Holger
But Spuds,.. I think he just Wanted to build one boat,... not a whole building kit production street. 😇😉
If you pay attention the the walls of the pool you can guesstimate some of the waves were 50 scale ft. Each block looks roughly the same height as that yellow boat. And those are typically pretty tall
Wow,... jep,..you are totally right! The yellow boat is, from waterline to the top deck, around 12 inch and build in 1/50 . ..... 🌊🚢

It makes me think if you had a slow motion camera with high specs and slowed it down so that it still seemed like everything was normal paced and darkened the water and found a way to increase the sound of the water you might get something close to approximating a convincing fake for a full sized boat.
