    As always, Thank you for so much wisdom and a plethora of great content! I have an Update on the Stinger 18" boat aswell! ive gotten the prop / strut angled better. Once it 'gets up' on the water it really moves on the octura 432, have yet to try the 430 prop. And a bigger motor system is definitely next as it goes into thermal protection and locks full throttle haha and the 1100mah 2s battery only lasts about 3 minutes. My little TR-800 / Helion Lagos got a replacement prop and may inherit the brushless 280 motor which would be a big upgrade from a 180 motor. I hope all is well! Again Thank you so much for all your knowledge and previous personal recommendations!

    Adding heat to grub screws is an absolute MUST! I do it with my solding iron like you said. Takes about 60 seconds and saves you hours of frustration

    Hello Big B. New subscriber to the channel. Great content. I'm a newbie to RC boats. Only had a slow toy grade one before. Looking at getting the Recoil 2 as it has awesome performance for the price. One newbie question I have is. Does the grease on the end of the shaft not need cleaning off before its inserted back into the collar and tightened up. You seemed to just push the shaft through the grease and secure it into the collar. I assume the grease doesn't make any difference to how secure the drive shaft is, as long as the collar is threadlocked and tight?

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  8 месяцев назад +1

      I like to whine the grease off as much as possible, it doesn't make that much of a difference and I've had guys argue otherwise. Clean it off if you can. BG4L

    I was looking at getting the vector SR80 for my first boat Which you said was pretty good.
    Been looking more at your videos and was wondering if this would be better choice?. I do like that the vector is a bit bigger though.
    Thanks for your help.
    Keep up the great info you have taught this newbie a lot😊

      Either one should put a smile on your face, I'd go with the 26" recoil 2 if your after a larger hull, it's comparable to the sr80

    Hey brotha! I love this boat, but I have one question
    That little gap on between the propeller and the bushing, is that supposed to be there?
    I can’t find any videos on the proper sitting position of the shaft, locked in for this boat and every time I push in the cable, it seems like the drive dog creates a gap for the propeller.
    Everything sits flushed, only when there’s a gap.. is that supposed to happen ?

    I picked up this boat because of your review and I'm really happy with it! I needed a basher boat for our pond and one that I could throw in our full-scale boat to take to the lake. Looks like it will be great for both! What metal prop would you run for thrashing about? I don't need 40+ mph since my pond is too small for that... just something that runs good and will be durable.

    What seems to be the problem if you stare at the end of the shaft with a propeller is and it’s a little bit wobbly. What could be the problem

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  10 месяцев назад

      More that likely, an out of balance propeller, tale the prop & nut off and spool it up on the "bench" a little wobbly is okay alot of wobbly is not

    I got the grub screw out of the coupler and the flex shaft spins freely and also moves in and out a few mm. Just can't pull it out. Tried using a lot of force, more than I was comfortable with, and it still won't come out. Am I doing something wrong? Is the shaft possibly flared out at the end, not allowing it to pass through the coupler? Any advice is appreciated.

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  10 месяцев назад +1

      Heat the coupler with a mini torch, get it fairly hot, Tap om the end of the flex cable with a rubber hammer (lightly) that should free up the cable.

      @@IRONCLADRC i got it out, thanks! I watched your video really quick and tried to remember the steps and use the owners manual hours later. Pronatur teflon grease, and Pronatur teflon oil can be mixed to any thickness. Too thick grease causes heat build up and on small boats saps the power. All my struts are drilled to oil or grease as necessary.

    You need some real hex drivers. And get rid of those chinesium “L” hex wrenches and you won’t have to worry about stripping out little grub screws.
    I really love the Vanquish hex drivers, expensive but so worth it. No more stripped hardware, not even on little 1.5mm stuff. And they feel great in the hand. And if you don’t want to spend the money on those even the much cheaper Dynamite hex drivers do great, but the knurling on the handles is a bit aggressive and will rub your hands raw if you’re doing a whole RC rig build.

      Yeah thanks man for doing these maintenance videos and tips and tricks much appreciated. I am new to boats and just bought a recoil 2 18" shreddy man does it shred right out of the box!! It's a great boat and fun. Think heating the Alan wrench up then letting it fit into the set screw and letting it heat it up for a min would work to break it loose? Instead of risking it with mini tourch flame.
