Kawasaki uses an ignition module (that silver box). You can’t get spark from that flywheel with an ordinary magneto coil, you’ve got to have that module in working order. Maybe see if the module connections are dirty or not grounded?

But an electronic ignition only needs rotation of a magnet to produce spark like every other Briggs tecumseh Kohler Loncin Powermore engine.

@@MowersNBlowers I think it’s a special setup that Kawi has, it’s not like a regular Briggs / Honda type setup. I don’t think you can get regular coils to fire off of those flywheel magnets. The silver box is called an igniter and it goes with the coil. I think you ran into this before a while ago iirc.

@@mjg263 yes sir! You have a wonderful memory. Didn’t realize you were such a long time subscriber. It was with another kawi engine. I thought the new magneto I put on was an electronic one but it coincidentally was a kawi one I had. I need an igniter like you said.

Make sure the coil isn’t upside down and clean the flywheel magnets with a wire brush maybe?

My 420 is same problem, lights up on spark tester but plug doesn’t spark, I screwed up starter trying to get spark !!!!😢

If you’re talking about the Powermore 420cc on MTD made craftsman’s, it’s nothing like this.
