      From the bottom of my heart as a veteran I want to thank you ROCK for everything you have done for us. This and the shows, and concerts. Thank you for always supporting us. It means a lot. I know it's hard for us to express our emotions and how greatful we are but I think you truly touched her, and I want to say thank you. Love you man never stop being a great person and inspiring people.

    I Feel bad because she really thinks she doesn't deserve a medal, let alone meeting the rock, tickets to premiere, dodgers game, and a mustang. It probably makes her feel horrible, but hopefully she realizes later that she deserves more

      Frank Alcala the biggest problem I have with these things is that it happens to 1 in a million soldiers and instead of helping them we praise the rock for helping 1. She is right to not want these awards. civilians just dont get it. You can't grow money at the problem.

      Danny's Painters I feel you. Just continue to educate civilians, but everyone has there own ways of showing appreciation. To me, a handshake from a veteran means the world, but I don't blame civilians for not understanding. They'll show appreciation however they think would make an impact. A veteran will always be humble, especially one who lost joes. Never forget.

What he doesn't explain is this poor girl now has to pay taxes, insurance, gasoline, and repairs for this vehicle. I am sorry but she deserves better.

    I don't know if you will ever see this comment Mr. Johnson, but you are the real! My son and I met you twice before where you were just the coolest dude and regular guy with my son and I. once at the Simi Valley Gym as you were running on the treadmill and chatting with my boy, and once in the tunnel at a LAKings game you checked my son into the wall after you announced your new movie The Tooth Fairy, and then gave me a friendly wink.
    what you so for our veterans is phenomenal! I'm not, but I share the same feeling that every veteran deserves much more than they get! You're a great man sir!

    What gets me most is the part where the woman says she can't accept the car and her solider gave his life. The part where the rock says but wouldn't your solider want to see you driving in that? It was almost like he was counciling her and showing her that there is a way to accept something even if you don't think you deserve it with the hard work she does. Very beautiful moment :)

      I am honestly curious though. Support, Homes, Mental Health Support, Health Care etc., is all things that would be better put forward to Veteran organizations as opposed to shoving PR events like this upon a single individual. That's the viewpoint I had watching this and watching her reactions to it.
      Would it not have been better to take the cars value and give it to the foundation? Or other foundations in other things? The money they spent on all of this PR event could have been put towards foundations that Marlene is working for. Give her the reward, then take the money from production in a different ceremonial setting and a big over-sized cheque for a dollar amount, or something along those lines.
      That's all I was thinking, especially when she started talking and getting emotional about the purple heart and that she got an award for someone else dying.

  • @goutvols103
    @goutvols103 6 лет назад +33

    She is so, so humble and really doesn’t understand that we Americans, or at least most of us, are very appreciative of her service to protect and serve all of us at home. Because of a few narrow minded people who choose to treat servicemen horribly does not mean that a very large amount of us look at them as heroes. Thank you for treating her as she should be treated. God bless you all and America.

    SOLE ROCK, I'm sure u had many of soldiers to choose from. But Marlene couldn't have been a better choice. The person u see in the video is how she truly is in real life. I have had the honor of crossing paths with marlene and also a fellow wounded soldier myself. even after all she has gone through. Till this day she still finds time to help others and give back to her community and spread awareness. I see her on a daily basis and not once has she not thought about herself before others. You have given a great gift to such a selfless person. much ALOFA from your fellow USO

      Alex Seguritan I must admit. While I was watching the video I realized tears were running down my face.
      I had my share of ups and downs in life, and I'm not the type to be easily impressed. But this...
      Maybe because my grandfather was a Lt. Colonel in the army, and this reminded me of him, bless his soul, or because I also been a NCO and know too well the things you go through, or like you said in your comment, she really is a kind, humble and great human being. Seeing this video, warms my heart.
      Stay safe out there!
      Salut from Romania.
