Newen is sooo talented. All the members sing and play well together. Seems that they do Fela as well and he was a groundbreaking artist. Their Afrobeat is amazing. I want more!
May the soul/music of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti live forever. One of greatest musicians/Nigerian to ever live. The music reminds me of the 70s at the shrine.
I agree, and it has a really low sampling rate on the audio as broadcast, so there is an even better copy somewhere. I was actively wishing for a Come Y Calla when I discovered it and they came through.
And in Cambridgeshire, England. Born here but my blood is Ukrainian. Music and love of and respect for other cultures will bring peoples together. Politics separates. Slava Ukrainii.

I completely agree with you. Humans will borrow and then reinvent art and music borrowed from where ever. Unfortunately, where I live (Canada), instead of embracing the sounds from across the planet and fusing them, this is considered cultural appropriation. As if any one culture was locked in and never morphed and went in unexpected directions.
I agree but at the same time we need to be careful that people don't allow cultural appropriation. I'm not saying it is, but I'm a little bit leery. As a Puerto Rican of African descent I practice West African culture but knowing the history of Argentina and how they marginalized their African population and MANY Euro-Argentines say they have NO Black people there, I think we need to watch out. I'm presuming that you are most likely Nigerian. I've seen these Afro-beat bands and I have yet to see an Afro-Argentine in any of the bands, and there ARE indeed Afro-Argentines(even though they are a small population) and Afro-Argentine musicians in Argentina. It would put me in the mind of seeing Africans playing Celtic Pop music, I'd understand the admiration but it'd be kinda weird. Either way, I hope that this movement is a sincere appreciation not appropriation and that they also get Afro-Argentines into these bands as well. Or put more Afro-Argentines in the limelight.
@@brainfreeze1925 Not saying this definitely is cultural appropriation but if it isn't its definitely borderline. Are these Afro-Argentines or are any in the band? Eh, well, maybe a few of them have some very diminished African ancestry, however, I don't know. In particular, Argentina was VERY evil towards their African population so much so they that deliberately myxed them out and most of the men died from being sent to war, to the point where the population was brought almost to a nonexistent level. This not the same like my family who are from Puerto Rico where we STILL have a HUGE Black and Black descended population. Most Argentines have said to me in Spanish "Pues, no tenemos negros en nuestro pais". The Black population is small there, but they ARE there. I'm trying to imagine people of African descent singing Celt or Russian Pop...It'd be weird to me and not make a lot of sense.

Afrobeat was created by the Nigerian legend, Fela Kuti, who was achieved acclaim for his musical talent and involvement in post- colonial African politics. Fela's recordings from the 1970s made a significant impact on the Nigerian music scene and rapidly gained popularity around the globe. 6:43 [Jazz History Tree]
This is incredible. Sounds amazing Only problem with the mix is there's not enough low end on the lead singer vocal. She's got a good deep register that you can't hear half of!
The file came in with a very low audio sampling rate. I downloaded it again and had my editing program do what it could to upscale it. ruclips.net/video/amAjyoWifps/видео.html&ab_channel=pyaklich
It always makes me quite sad if you see that most people only listen to music produced by their own culture... Arabs only listening Arab music, Western people (Europeans / US / Australia etc.) only listening Western music, Africans only listening African music, etc. etc. Wish more people had a flexible and globally oriented mind as these guys!
Mostly. The two backup singers, the bassist, and the Tenor Sax left during the Pandemic. They were all replaced, except there is only one backup singer now. I also posted a slightly better version of this with part 2 included. ruclips.net/video/amAjyoWifps/видео.html&ab_channel=pyaklich
You are all soooo Good. Thank you for sharing
Grammy is awaiting you guys.
I'm sure Fela would be proud of you guys
These guys have done very well. Chile, South America! No one could have predicted it. Fela must be singing along. Respect.
Love you guys from Nigeria (Naija )
I've been watching this group for a few years now. It is the freshest sound to come out. Their talent is light years above anything I've ever seen.

Mui, Mui hermosa, sus musica! Muchos gracias, todos¡ (Sorry- you una Guerra, no hablamos español muchos.
This band ONLY kills it.
They do NOTHING BUT kill it.
If it were even possible for them to not kill it, they would still choose to kill it.
I want to see them perform "Water Get No Enemy". I know they would do that song justice!
Glad to see that they still have it!!!!
