You and a few other channels are the reason why i got back into gunpla building. Had a really bad year in 2018, and havnt touched my MG Hi-Nu Verka. Now im picking it back up, plaplating, scribing and just having fun. Thank you.
Im honestly in love with your personal style. Gunpla style can be kind of cookie cutter. While your style is completely unique, and unlike most everyone else on the youtubes. I've only been building for a couple months, but I really want to get good with a brush. I have zero experience, so it's a long process.
Ive just recently started building gundpla. I like that you pushed yourself and came out of your comfort zone. I too try to push myself every time I build. I enjoyed the video and the motivation it gave me. Thank you
Thanks again to Sugar Candy Miniatures, Kevin K., Plamotherapist, DJR, BlueParappa, Leo Nel Builds, and Jetto Hobby for being guest voices! [ ~ Make sure you watch to the end to see a teaser for my next video ;) ~ ] (Edit: Removed the GPaint link because I no longer associate with Studio G and don't recommend those products. This doesn't affect the video's contents, so I'm leaving it unaltered.)
I appreciate your insight into building models, style and being on youtube. I'm getting back into both the miniatures and gunpla hobby as well as documenting it. As much as other model building youtubers have inspired you, you've inspired me!
Just what I needed! Have an exam tomorrow but couldn’t sleep so was looking for Gunpla inspiration! Thank you very much! I won’t sleep sooner, but I’ll have less anxiety overall about not being able to kitbash Gunpla atm 😅 Thank you for itching my itch a bit, have been checking back here regularly for something new lol
@@MMMayhem Ye, not great having an expensive hobby as a coping mechanism eh? 😅 Good luck on future videos! I look forward! Love the Goobertown vibe (which is funny, you got him featured. It explains a lot)
I love your style. Your delivery in your talking parts, all the little things you have with the models talking to you and stuff, and imo your very skillful painting. Keep up the awesome work
I love you channel and you do a great job. I enjoy that you do what you want to do and hearing that you are pushing yourself into trying out things like scribing that you’ve never done before has me now wanting to do more for my models. I just got all my equipment and will be starting my journey into airbrushing my models too!
Thank you for talking about the whole getting outta your headspace. That shi hits me so hard sometimes, and is good hearing people mention it as really don't hear it much. Great job on the kit! So what do you use/what is your process on the disassembly part? Kinda always blew my mind people breaking down the whole gundam after building it, because I usually have a helluva time just seperating some parts when I miss a step.
Thank you for the thoughtful comment, I'm glad that resonated with you. Disassembly can definitely be kind of a nightmare sometimes, honestly one of the most helpful things I've found is to not clip my fingernails beforehand, it's definitely easier that way. (I don't have long fingernails or anything, I just wait until after the dissassembly stage before the usual maintainance)
Thank you for the content, I really enjoy watching every single video. Imo your style is very unique and it really hits a special spot in my heart. I hope the grind doesn't grinds you.
That is one handsome Hi-Nu! An inspiring, humorous and entertaining video as always. I found your channel while I was home sick with COVID last month. Your content helped distract me from how crappy felt. Much appreciated, keep making great videos. 👍

I got into the channel because I mostly do hand painting on my gunpla. All these videos are greatly informative and entertaining though. I enjoy the sense of humor.
i just discovered your channel coming from the mini side of the world and am enjoying it thoroughly. you give off goobertown hobbies vibes. chill, silly, a bit snarky and relaxing. love the videos :)
So sad I missed the premier. I was having internet issues. Glad I got to finally watch the video. Great message about not comparing yourself to others. Remember, "Comparison is the thief of Joy." 😁
As someone who painted warhammer 40k for 5 years getting into gunpla was supposed to be the chill "build out of the box and you're done!" hobby, but lately I've been meaning to get into customizing and painting. My biggest worry is how easy it is to scrape off paint and how posable the model is afterwards as that is one of the main draws of Gundams for me.
the 'social media and project planning' section is EXTREMELY relatable. but it's amusing to me because not only could all of those words have come from my mouth (even the 'doing it for myself' part) verbatim, but I have felt exactly that way about my main craft (music + graphics) which model building is a respite from. Its interesting that someone could feel exactly how I do with something I take very seriously, about something I see as a fun pass time (not meant as a put-down btw). life sure is funny sometimes.
That color scheme is actually pretty neat. I struggle with deciding on custom colors myself and get intimidated when looking for inspiration as I look through other people's models. You're not alone in this dilemma.
"Better hurry up before I lose relevance!" -The devil on every RUclipsr's shoulder You're amazing at what you do, and I thank you for letting me have a peek at it!
wow, Liam, my dude, what can I say? I greatly enjoyed every moment of this video, not only because you're an incredibly talented builder/painter, but also because a lot of the things you talked about hit home HARD and you said things that many of us are thinking. Your build turned out beautiful with all those details and all those new things you tried, in the end they all came together beautifully. Also you got some sexy voice over guests hehehe... I'm excited to see what's next from you!
you could add mental health to your tags i suspect. Your talking out your thoughts and process is supportive. And your vocab seems to lend itself to that language. Keep up the good vids!
Hope that model is a great display of your talent and I hope that you will use it to better yourself in many ways and forms I hope that your next project will see you the prosperity of good feelings and talent.
Watching a friend-shaped person like you working through these challenging builds gives me encouragement. I have so many great kits sitting in my stack of shame in my building room. I often want to build and paint while I'm at work, but by the time I get home I'm so mentally exhausted. I just need to build when I want to play video games or other immediate reinforcement activities. The hardest things can be most rewarding.
Start simple and aim to achieve an even coat, then panel line and top coat, learn one new thing at a time. Paint really depends on your environment, skill, tolls, availability, etc. (I suggest supporting your local hobby store if you have one)
Beautiful kit. The mindset of growing out of comparing with others and into comparing with your past self is a life lesson not just in gunpla. On another note I think it would be extremely cursed if you color-coded the forbidden sprinkles and put them in separate containers
I somehow really disliked masking when I started custom paint on my gunpla kits. So long and tedious process sometimes, which could even end up with a bad result if the tape was not perfectly applied. So I gave it up. Then gave a try to Mr hobby gunze mask fluid, which helped me go a bit faster on this process, along with masking tape when the fluid was useless, depending on the part shape. And eventually, as you quote, began to enjoy this particular part of the whole process, just like any other. And understood that it is all about patience, taking the time to do things right. And it's really worth it IMO, as you really can add a lot of life, details to your kit, even without any other customization such as with pla plates or so, and end up with a far more beautiful and awesome end result. Even if one might don't know why, but a kit with masked / painted parts will instantly be more noticeable and attractive or more your display shelf among any others. And last, I think the point is not to achieve a perfect work, as I am never entirely satisfied with the end results I have, but to aim perfection, work hard, learn from mistakes, and go on. As a certain master builder says : never stop building. That's a good motto isn't it? Thank you for sharing your work, experience, doubts and tricks.
I'm sure the dichotomy of control is much easier to apply when you have enough armaments to delete a small continent from existence. Excellent job across the board. I often find I don't want to hear about the personal backgrounds of the average content creator, but your insight on the behind the curtain aspects of creation as a whole are important. Far too often people get caught up in the social aspect of what they're doing and forget why they started. You going "back to basics" is important to reinforce, for yourself and your audience, that making something just because is worth it. Just because everyone around you is doing 120 hour custom modeling/scribing/paint jobs doesn't mean a basic build with some nub marks visible is a bad thing. You can always go back and add more to it, as you demonstrated here. But the important part is to do something. Like the romans said: Fac si Facis. Do it, if you're going to do it.
