IN 1980, I TOOK THE GREYHOUND BUS, FROM LOS ANGELES TO THE STATE OF ARKANSAS, AND WENT TO A SMALL TOWN CALLED SHERIDAN, TO SEE A LONG TIME HIGHSCHOOL FRIEND. HAD HIS ALBUM "BRIDGE OF SIGHS" ON CASSETTE TAPE. LISTENED TO THE ALBUM, MORE THAN ONCE, BOTH GOING TO AND COMING BACK FROM ARKANSAS. GOOD TO HEAR YOU AGAIN, ROBIN!

Eric’s playing really changed after the death of his son,
      which is completely understandable.
Eric lost his fire and played the same licks over and over.
We guitar players do that, when we don’t want to think or feel.

    I’ll always like Robin..
He’s a real gentleman. No Rockstar ego, a regular guy.
I’ve been a touring musician (guitar) for a long time and I can
honestly tell you, that most guitar players come close to having LSD
    “ ( lead singers disease ).”
When Robin released his first album,
    I was missing Hendrix’s . I studied Jimi’s technique
and learned to play all of his songs.
I wanted more of Jimi’s music, but that was over.
Not that Robin replaced him, but he had studied Jimi as well and filled that void.
Robin’s style gave me more to learn. His music built on Jimi’s.

    • @daveapple205

      @F8Tributo Месяц назад

@@MairyHinge That's exactly my feelings. Only Jimi could be Jimi, and his wildly creative style came from his heart. And Robin's emotive blues speaks of his personal and unique experiences, such as "Good Morning Midnight", which seems to me to be a lament for his late wife. Not a copy of anything, and uniquely Trower, written on the pages of his life. Trower has a magic touch in his finger tips and a beautiful signature tone.

Your completely missing something Hendrix is Jimmy Hendrix and Trower is his own man. He doesn’t like the analogy to Hendrix he doesn’t copy or imitate anyone he has his own style has never covered any Hendrix material .
Hendrix burnt out in little time at all took far too many drugs and paid the consequence at 27.
Whilst l acknowledge that Hendrix was one of the finest and original guitarists ever Robin Trower is still evolving now and is not living of Hendrix’s legacy.

Robin would bat you upside your empty head for trying to make him greater than Hendrix. Hendrix invented and perfected psychedelic blues guitar. Robin uses some of his licks, but Hendrix was and is the master and Trower isn't all that similar in technical terms. Stevie Ray Vaughan came close, but he always deferred to Hendrix. Trower is one of the best and it's amazing that he's still kicking ass at his age, but Jimi and Stevie were gone early, so we'll never know where they would they would have taken their sound. Robin has maximized his talent, which Jimi and Stevie were never able to do. Apples and Oranges

Loving his amp set up with the 2 Bluesbreaker combos flanking the head and 4x12 cab. Bummed that we won’t see him in Chicago next month, but hoping he fully recovers and tours one more time if he wants to.

🤘 It's beyond great that Robin continues to play live ( not many of my favorite axe men are still playing, I appreciate this). To compliment his classic licks can I suggest A SOUND CHECK BEFORE THE SHOWS - THE MIX WAS OFF. Disappointed that not much vocals or rhythm section were there to COMPLETE these classic songs. That said, thanks for showing the full show (didn't realize he was touring) and steady visuals. Get well soon Robin & rock on !
