Hi Jenna! My sister is a Hawaiian immersion teacher, and when she started her job two years ago, she didn’t know how to speak Hawaiian. Now she’s pretty fluent. Something that helps her and the kids she teaches is labeling things in her home with Hawaiian vocab words. So for you, you would label your household items with Korean vocabulary words. I believe in you and can’t wait to see your growth throughout the year! You’re so graceful with yourself. I’m sooo impatient. 😂

Poor baby having tummy problems, I know when my dogs had the runs it was crazy running them down the stairs in my apartment. You can't do anything but help them out, your great parents. I'm learning Mandarin and we always learn words from a text, that means each word is linked to a context, at the very beginning the sentences were really simple, maybe that helps you to remember.

So funny story, I have been trying to learn Korean for about a year and a half. It’s been kind of hard for me, very hard. I went to Korea last year for a couple of weeks and everybody wanted to speak English with me.😂. I memorized a lot of phrases and things to say when I was there, but when they responded to me, I didn’t know what to say back. The struggle! Keep at it!
It’s definitely hard and I totally get what you mean when you visited 🥹 they all know English in Korea

haha i didn't realize 😂 i was tired, and yes i've tried duolingo personally i don't like it i've tried it probably 5 separate times now and for some reason it doesn't work well for me

I actually got the Memrise app to learn Chinese (Mandarin). Kind of like you, I am trying to improve on my Mandarin. I know the basics but I need to get better at conversations!

Did you ask your parents why they didn't speak Korean to you growing up?
yes as i got older. my parents speak english mainly more than korean, so that's always been one thing, english did not come hard at home. but ultimately when i was a baby they told me they were nervous about me having an accent which was a hard reality i think a lot of immigrants were dealing with at that time, not having many examples of other families to go off from. they decided if i got older and wanted to know it, then that would be my choice. so i'm grateful that they were looking out for me at the time
