@@jaimesanchez9545 I haven't graduated yet so I don't know. But I mean, chemical plants build with a lot of considerations and mostly not in the "urban'' area. I had an internship at a fertilizer company, and they build the plant close with the gas well to reduce the cost of gas transferring. But actually, working in a plant ain't the only option. You can be a consultant for building a new plant, like you're becoming the architect of the plant or consultant for waste management, corrosion prediction, etc. As I'm mentioned earlier, chemeng learn wide aspects of engineering (we even learn about food tech and bioeng in my college), and I think there'll be plenty of job vacancies for cheme graduates
I don’t think you should be too concerned about that, both my dad and sister are chemE and my dad has lived both in small town texas and eugene OR and my sister is currently living in a Houston suburb
There are a lot of great locations and jobs for chemEs in good cities (I am currently living in San Francisco and have lived in Houston before too)! Recent chemE graduate here. ChemE isn't impossible to do well in, it just requires a substantial amount of work compared to other disciplines. As long as you network properly, put in enough hours, stay on track with deadlines you should be fine. Lastly, you'll realise very quickly that there's not much chemistry in it :D
What advice would you give to a very introvert chemE junior, I have not yet looked into internships because quite honestly I’m afraid of not being up to standard and the social ramifications also put a dent on my confidence. How do you go about building up that workplace confidence and social capabilities to network w the correct people?
I'd say don't make assumptions or put yourself down, if you're doing chemE it shows you're smart and have got a lot of potential. Internships are more to give you experience and help your application stand out from other competitors. You're not supposed to know everything otherwise there would be no need for college; the training you'll get will naturally boost your confidence because you're more seasoned. Usually a part-time job in something like retail will help in developing your social skills and talking to random people with different personalities.

I'm currently in community college getting the credentials for transferring for Chemical Engineering. Let me say, Jesus it's tough. Especially since most communities don't exactly offer Chemical Engineering. My ed plan is to literally take all the Chemistry, Physics, and Calculas offered by my school. Really agree your vid. We studied a lot of process engineering and stuff like that. It was not much chemistry, more physics and math and MATLAB somehow q.q Just felt like the degree just leads to work in the manufacture industry which is why I dropped off on the 4th year. I do not regret choosing ChemEng cuz I met a lot of amazing ppl, but wish I saw your video few years back.
dropped in 4th year? Man why to drop at that stage. I hear that most of the last year is just labs and projects and all hard - hardwork is mainly till the end of 3rd year. However, hope u are doing well in doing whatever u are doing.

Hello, I just came across to your video. As a chemical engineer, I totally agree with you. I'm a PhD student in Japan now and I believe that academics might be more like chemistry, but not totally. On the other hand, maybe there are some labs of Research and Development that can offer jobs to chemical engineers. My question is that is it hard to find a position in industry as a foreigner in the States?
To be honest, this branch is difficult, but it is so essential for industrial chemistry. The difficult problems make our patient, our professional in this major.
As retired ChemE , ChemE is well around engineering major. Study so many different subjects. ChemE education stands out in many industry with chemE education.
I love math and chemistry and most of science, im in grade ten and ive been reading a lot about chemical engineering cuz i think it really do fit me, do u recommend?
So grateful to your advices xxx, wanna ask some questions, does being a chemical engineering student needs to be good at drawing? Is it necessary in that field?

Hi Jamie, I love your videos and I have a question about your experience as a ChemE college student. I know that academics is what matters the most while at college, but because I'm planning on studying abroad I was wondering if you had time for social events? like was it completely impossible for you to go to social outings or did you manage to do other things than study all the time?
this year im goin to the college for the first time and pray for me so i get accepted in chemical engineering major, honestly i love chemistry and i dont hate physics as well ,i hope i can survive at this whole hole life !!

Especially since most communities don't exactly offer Chemical Engineering. My ed plan is to literally take all the Chemistry, Physics, and Calculas offered by my school. Add that along with you're usually with people who don't have common interests and boy your going to need some motivation. But it's everything I enjoy so just gotta push on through it! I would definitely recommend it if you're into engineering 😁

when i graduated high school : ok, i love chemystry, joining ChemE sounds so fun
when i enter ChemE : i've made wrong decision... can i go back
The thing is a few months ago I thought this degree was only about chemistry so because I didn’t like chemistry I put this degree out of the list but when I started to see this type of videos I started liking this degree and now I’m going to start in October 🙏
being a chemical engineering student, from my experience, because how hard it is, its haunting me in my night dreams, a lot.

I'm a chemical engineering student my self it's hard but interesting when you can manage waste water or make food or fuel and energy also batteries that's what is important
Where are you study
I'm a chemE major and have been working on various projects about wastewater treatment and I love it!!

Thank you Jamie. This would have been very helpful in choosing ChemE :).
LOL
I'm a chemical engineering graduate and I can say it is very hard and challenging especially when you start working in industry.
Hiii I just find your channel for not exactly reason lol but I felt definitely connected, I am ChemEng from Colombia and even here we join to this career because we like Chemistry in high school and then realize is an illusion. when I was in university (Universidad de Cartagena) we received a visit of stundent from A&T University, it was cool !
Thank you 언니 ♡♡♡ I am still thinking about what course to take up in college, and I think I would like to take up ChemE, but then the 2 questions hit me hard that made me like, "I don't want this course", but then the careeer path, where plants are in the middle of nowhere???? that's my kind of thing hahahahaha so maybe, I might love working on this ChemE course
As a high school student, i feel like all the calculations in physics just kinda go over my head and i can only calculate the number without truly understanding and visualising what it is im counting....... do you think i can still survive in ChemE (im ok with math tho)
Well, as a someone who doesn't like physics, i am glad i heard this before applying. I was thinking between chemE and enviromental eng or anything else, hopefully i have some time to decide
Hai Yeonju, i really agree with your this video, because i'm majoring in chemical engineering and right now i'm in second semester. First i feel like, i choose chemical engineering because i like chemistry, but after i choose it, i talk to myself "wow it's so hard"😂😂...but, i think "it's okay, you can do it and don't be doubtful girl"..so yah until today i learn more and more about physics, math, and etc...it's so hard yeonju eonnie😅
Really enjoyed your content. You answered some questions regarding ChemE, so thanks for that. I am thinking about studying ChemE in Gothenburg Sweden. So you have some european fans now :)
thank you soo much I start studying chemical engineering this year and needed this

Ohmygod i am contemplating on what to take on college either bio or chem eng and this pops up on my recommendation
Guess this is a sign
Hi im a new to this channel you know i plan to take when i go college next year is chemeng and thank you because it help me a lot to know more about this major and how hard or something it is.....but thank you for sharing your thoughts about this major and for more info cause you know i thought that too that chemistry and chemeng are the same
Hello, I just came across to your video.
Hello! Nice video. By any chance could you tell me what was your High School GPA to see if I even have a chance to survive Uni ChemE?
Thanks, this video really helped me.
Bachelor degree: "I cant do this again, enough with ChemE"
Master degree: Also studies ChemE
Assalamvalaikum ...rather than gng for master degree ...do some courses in simulation field
can you make a video that goes further into career paths for a ChemE. I'm a third year ChemE and I live in socal. I loved your video btw:)

To be honest, this branch is difficult, but it is so essential for industrial chemistry. The difficult problems make our patient, our professional in this major.
Hi!! I'm incoming ChE freshmen from Philippines ❤ , I was so happy that I finally found a channel about ChE. Thank you for all your efforts
HAHA. Goodluck! Im a ChE student from Philippines. LOL
mj. 1stlaw mahirap po ba? Aspiring Che student po
Incoming ChE students also from🇵🇭
Im also an incoming ChE in Ph. Goodluck to us!!
Goodluck sa mga freshies!! Walang magshi-shift ❤️
Thankyou so much, this video was very very helpful :)
I mean, if you read "engineering" you should already prepare your expectations in terms of dificulty
First year ChemE Cornell PhD, it was the hardest experiences of my life but brought the best in me
What kind of jobs did u get after 4yrs of undergrad chemical eng?
Currently double majoring in ChME and Chem. It’s hard as hell lol. Currently in Thermo 1 and it is scary as hell
So grateful to your advices xxx, wanna ask some questions, does being a chemical engineering student needs to be good at drawing? Is it necessary in that field?
No! Not necessary
I've just graduated this past May...I still have nightmares of my senior design project
This is going to be me next semester and I'm already stressed about it. Any tips?
@@aliali0989 Just be sure to communicate well with your team about every part of the project where work is being done. Don't fall behind on your schedule and make it as flexible as you can. If you have weekly action items, have your team submit them to you (or the team leader) every Friday if your deadline is on Sunday. Have your team be involved in peer reviews and if there are any problems with regard to group dynamics (i.e, someone not picking up the slack, lazy members), go to your advisor/instructor as soon as possible. I'd be happy to answer more of your questions should you have any :)
I graduated last year and I still feel the same haha it's a topic I don't want to take stories with unless required
@@jadem2277 Sometimes I worry about how I'm going to describe my senior design situation in my interviews because I really don't have anything positive to say about certain team members lol. It's the ultimate test on how to paint horrible situations in a somewhat good light.

I enjoyed watching your video..I am now a Licensed Chemical Engineer in my country Philippines but working presently as an Occupational Safety & Health Engineer at a cement plant though my engineering skills still useful but I really miss to be in a real Chemical Engineer world.........
I know ChemE and Chemistry are both very different majors. i actually like chemistry more but ion wanna disappoint my family that i got jUsT tHaT kInd Of cOuRSe so im tryna risk my ass off for a harder one, that is still kinda connected to chemistry even tho its more on math... so i choose to make myself suffer by choosing ChemE :D
I majored in chimE because I was a bit into chemistry but I found out that I don’t really enjoy chemistry as much as I thought I would be, so good for me 🙃
finished my 2nd semester with 3.80 🥺🥺 am entering my second year this october!!!!
I'm still in highschool and like for the past years when someone asks what I am going to take in college, I would always say ChemE. But I never really looked into it properly, and now that I saw this video, I reaaaaally nervous if I be able to handle it.
Sameee
YAAAY another chemical engineering graduate working in O&G here ✌️
Damn relatable, being a chem eng. graduate here.
If u really like chemistry, seriously go for chemistry majors. Not chemical engineering. You'll only get to see chemistry in year 1, maybe a lil bit here and there. Then physics and maths all the way.
As a physical chemistry TA who helps teach a class that's usually filled with chemEs. Those kids have it rough ......
... and it's my fault
Hi yes you can totally balance your school work and life☺️
this year im goin to the college for the first time and pray for me so i get accepted in chemical engineering major, honestly i love chemistry and i dont hate physics as well ,i hope i can survive at this whole hole life !!
i was planning on getting ChemE as my major in college (i still dont know what do i really want in the future) and right now idk anymore
same
Pls help me 🙏🏻 which group in11th standard best for Chemical engineering whether pcm with bio or pcm computer science
Almost a year before I really found your channel! It was quite really interesting and I really learned a lot from your vids. ❤ Thank you!
Btw, I will be an Int'l student this coming Fall. Any tips or reminders for us as aspiring Chem Engrs.in the future? And if you have references used in Chem Engineering, pls let me know. It would be a great help for us beginners. Thank you so much!! ❤
when i decided to study chemical engineering my grandparents thought i was gonna do their medicine studies and my family think i'm some kind of walter white lmao
If u work in pharma as graduate engineer trainee ...than its easy adapt medicine terminology
I feel same too, its hard for some people
I'm ChemE students and so far it has not been what I thought it would be. ChemE is mind blowing seriously😅😅
And seriously hard 😂, it was a struggle for to finish this degree
Gracias por compartir
Saludos desde Chile :)
The one question I would have is why chemical engineering research is so similar to chemistry, many of which DOES happen "in the lab"?
Also, isn't it much easier to transfer from chemE to chemistry than the other way around. So even entering as a chemE major it is easier to switch and in industry (with experience) it is easier to fill roles a chemistry major might fill?
Just a senior highschool here
*getting whispered by my parents to go with chemical engineering :>*
So if I go through chemE will I be able to work for spaceX making rocket fuel?
proud chemical engineer❤️
All engineering is tough chemical isnt any harder than any other. Exprience with both chemical and civil.
Yes, I proud a chemical engineer
