Hey Shawn. I have been accepted into UBC Okanogan for a bachelor in science because I was unsure of what exactly I wanted to do back in January when I applied . But just recently have found chemical engineering and I am interested in taking the program that Vancouver campus offers. I would have to transfer in my second year. My questions are: Is it difficult to transfer into the program? Should i change into some type of engineering program at Okanogan to prepare for chemical engineering? If so what program would be best so that the classes match what I would need to take in first year chemical engineering? The engineering programs offered in Okanogan are: Mechanical engineering Civil engineering Electrical engineering Manufacturing engineering Or should I just stick with the science bachelor for first year? You’re welcome!
Now I am doing chemical engineering..
AYE!!
It is really hard. Currently taking heat and mass transfer.
I actually liked that course! And it’s pretty useful so pay attention :)
@@shawn.builds this was my favorite module. I am finnally a chemical engineer and I got a job. I love it.
@@scme4151 congrats!!!
Loved this video!
Happy to help, Martina!
Wooow❣️
Loved the video ✨✨
happy to help :)
Many thanks!
you're welcome!
But in India there is very less scope of chemical engineering and i want to persue it..so I am preparing for entrance exam..and I can take Mechanical also if chemical in not good
I'm not sure about India, but Mechanical is a generally still one of the best engineering disciplines.
Hey Shawn. I have been accepted into UBC Okanogan for a bachelor in science because I was unsure of what exactly I wanted to do back in January when I applied . But just recently have found chemical engineering and I am interested in taking the program that Vancouver campus offers. I would have to transfer in my second year. My questions are:
Is it difficult to transfer into the program?
Should i change into some type of engineering program at Okanogan to prepare for chemical engineering?
If so what program would be best so that the classes match what I would need to take in first year chemical engineering?
The engineering programs offered in Okanogan are:
Mechanical engineering
Civil engineering
Electrical engineering
Manufacturing engineering
Or should I just stick with the science bachelor for first year?
Any help is really appreciated. I’ve just recently found your content and it’s been super informative. Thanks!
Hi Daniel,
Shoot me a message at shawnesquivel24@gmail.com.
I can give you better advice through email and possibly connect you with a friend of mine who transferred from science to chem E.
Thanks for watching,
Shawn
@@shawn.builds sounds good. I have shot you that email.
Does industrial engineering demand in future
probably!
I just applied to college for chemical e, hope I pass
I hope so too!! Let me know if you get in 👀
@@shawn.builds I just got my results from the admission exam I GOT IT.
@@samirreyes7455 WOOOOOOO CONGRATS!!! :DDDD

A process engineer is a chemival engineer, but a chemical engineer is not necessarily a proceer engineer. I am doing my masters in molecular systems and material chemistry (specifically low scale soft matter systems like yoghurt and paint)
nice! where are you doing your masters ?
@@shawn.builds at the university of technology in Eindhoven! They also offer process chemistry, but I chose the other track :)
Hi engineer Shawn! how do I make a BFD (Block Flow Diagram)? Thank you!
I can go over some of the basics in a video! Thanks for the idea!
@@shawn.builds thanks engr. Shawn I just badly need it for this semester's project
@@jericdepaz8868 if it's for a project, i suggest you google it! I don't know when I'll be able to make this video
Loved video😇😇
Thanks Harsh! More coming your way :)
Hi there, I am currently studying for Y2 chemical engineering, just want to know that is someone here looking at the comment have experiences in the investigation of the Progress of Carbon Quantum Dots in Photocatalysis Applications?
Sounds wicked cool but I don't know anything about that. Hope someone else can help.
How is the demand in this field compared to other branches of engineering
Most popular ones would still be mechanical, electrical and software in terms of job prospects
Hi Shawn! I just got into UBC & I Waterloo’s chem engineering, but I’m so confused about the difference between these two school’s program. Do you have any ideas about this???
I don't know much about Waterloo but I know they're both very similar schools so don't sweat it too much
@@shawn.builds thanks for your reply! Btw if I choose chem engineering in uni, is it possible for me to be an engineering consultant or working in data science field as my future job/career path?
@@jenniferjin9460 yeah it's definitely possible, I actually know someone who graduated in chem E around 2016 and has been working in data science since. however, you can't get your P. Eng unless you're doing actual engineering work. consulting is also always an option working at EPC firms. In canada, check out Kiewit, Ausenco, Golder, Hatch.
@@shawn.builds thank you so much! Happy Easter!
I'm first year chemical engineering student
awesome! where do you study?
Im in my final year of bachelor degree chemical process engineering and suddenly this video popped out ahahahah
the yt algorithm knows all
Bro , Can You Explain How Chemical Engineers Prevent Climate Change??
Watch out for my next vid 😝😝
I am Waiting..😄
Hi... I completed my engineering.... could you please explain which course will help me to get a job after chemical engineering
you're better off focusing on design teams, internships, research and projects. courses are the least effective way of standing out to employers
Can I do chemical engineering if I don't study physics in A level?
yeah ofc, i was not very good at physics but I got by!
Some of it is cool, most of it is boring. Graduated last spring and got a good job doing R&D so I guess that’s good. Honestly would hate to do process control.
What industry are you in?
@@shawn.builds Pharmaceutical, I’m fortunate that my university is located in an area with many pharmaceutical companies and provided connections to these companies.
should you have experience before you can get a job?
@@amuri9797 It helps but it’s not a deal breaker. All I had was just general work experience in retail that I worked to get through university. I didn’t have any industry experience.
this is the video that i recommend to the girls on tinder, after she asks what i'm studying
i can't wait to get traffic incoming from tinder 😂
Thanks for the explaination man. My name’s Sean and Imma be stealing your viewers once I become a chemical engineer too😎
good luck ;)

Thanks!!
Do you know the main differences between chemical engineering and chemical product engineering? My university offers them as two different degrees and I’m confused what the difference is as the descriptions are so similar.
Can you send me the links?
I’m 33 and changed my career, now my new adventure is getting my degree in chemistry.. now that I work for a medical cannabis company.. lol
nice!! hope everything turns out well for you!
Sir Can we do chemical engineering kr skte h after 10 standard
not sure what you mean bro
I'm a chemical enginner student in México
Nice!!
Bro can you tell me how about job opportunities for chemical engineers in food manufacturing industries in USA,Uk,candada and (pharmaceutical, paper and pulp, polymer) in your country as well
Yes I talked about many industries such as pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, oil and gas, semiconductors, batteries and more in this video:

Thanks a lot bro:,-) whenever I post comment you always respones me though.

Can chemical engineers go to a more medical work field?
Pharmaceuticals is a big one
Hi Shawn I would imagine for a job like that you need to know alot of chemistry any ideas on if I tried to cut pm 2.5 filter to fit in a gas mask filter any thoughts please thank you it mean do you think that I could make a gas mask filter by using cotton and cutting th pm2.5 filter thoughts please thank you.
no idea man, sorry
hey, simple question does it differ from graduate requirements in your country? for example in my country we ChemEng need to do a research, factory design, and fieldwork practices to graduate. This is my third year and I'm feeling tough on this degree :(
we had similar things:
1. lab course every year where we do research and design of experiments
2. capstone course in final year to do full plant design
3. co-op/internships (not mandatory, but highly increases your chances of getting a job after grad)
same with me for graduate the last assignment is factory design

I have decided to be a chemical engineer but is it so very tough?
Just as tough as any other engineering discipline :)
