    I've had to break out the Opaque White and start completely over, more than once. Happy to see that a well respected painter is not afraid to show this. Nice job!

      When i just started lure painting i used to hope for the best and clear coated my lures even though i was not happy with the results ( Hoping that a clear coat would magically make it all look so much better 😄) After about 10 or 20 of those i only realized you could start over again on the same lure with a good blast of opaque white. Since then i learned to just do it again if i did not like it. The only thing I still struggle with is emotionally getting over it if i spend a lot of time on it hahaha 😆😆
      Thank you for the compliment about well respected, really appreciate that and i am humbled people call me that!

    Your end result was worth redoing it-- it looks amazing! And I'm really looking forward to your new series. As a beginner airbrusher I'm all about the learning process and you're a great teacher. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

      Thank you so much Jennifer! Glad i can contribute and really appreciate the comment!
      In my mind the series will be awesome! 😆 Now i just have to materialize that thought and learn over time how to make such videos, Soon the ice will be gone here and i hope the fish will wake up, it has been too long since i felt a fish on the end of a hook 😄

    Man, you had it! Just before you said it went all wrong. LOL You're not the first artist who couldn't say "Whoa . . . that's it." But you're mistake is what made the video worth watching. I've seen a lot of these videos and the ones that show mistakes are the best ones. By the way, we caught a bunch of nice spawning crappie last weekend.

    • @lureblanks
      @lureblanks  Год назад

      Really?? You think the first try looked better? 😀
      Of course crappies come in a lot of different colors, some really dark, some with barely and spots or black while others have a lot of spots on them. I was aiming to paint a really yellow, goldish crappie with lesser spots. In the first try I just went to heavy with the black. Although it still looked like a crappie, it was just not the crappy i was aiming for 😆 But i still think it looked messy either way in the first try, if i would do a darker crappie i would use a stencil more often or something, I think ... 😉 Still not sure 😆
      Do they change color when spawning?

    Very nice not many painters will admit they made a mistake but starting over you put made an excellent lure

    • @lureblanks
      @lureblanks  Год назад

      Thank you so much Morgan! Making mistakes is the only way we can make progress. If we never make a mistake we would be painting the same thing over and over again 😀
      I always need a moment when i realize i need to start over, ( funny when i see myself ponder over that 😆) I think i spend well over 2 hours on the first try, planning colors, building the layers and trying to save it. But I am glad i did start over! It is all part of the art 😊

    Well done coming back from your first mistake good to see you included in your video buddy, any chance you could try airbrushing an Australian murray cod design on a big swim bait please. Keep up the great work

      Thank you! Glad everyone appreciates it so much, it was an unexpected happy mistake 😆
      I love a good challenge, australian murray cod looks like a fun pattern! I might do it on a jointed crankbait though (or a big jerkbait) instead of an swimbait but the painting process will be the same. The ideas are already coming! 😄

    Looks great! I just started airbrushing... like 3 lures in and tried my first crappie yesterday, so far it looks ok but I still have to get some clear coat on it so we shall see

    • @lureblanks
      @lureblanks  Год назад +1

      Thank you and awesome! A clear coat will always make it look just that little better 😀 Make those colors pop, makes pearl and metallic paints shine and makes transparent colors blend in a little more again. And no doubt the fish will like it! It is us fishermen that are picky and high demanding 😆

      I used an Uv resin for this one, 2 light coats so it does not run into the joint. Also i put a rubber in the joint so if any resin does run in the joint it sticks on the rubber band 👌
