    Jerry, I hope you'll keep practicing this shooting-thing.
    I honestly think you're right on the verge of getting the hang of this sport.

    Glad he mentioned the lower position of the cylinder gap. I never considered that. I love watching him shoot. It's like watching Bruce Lee; you want to go out and train hard, once you see what high levels of skill some people can achieve.

      That says something about you as an individual. Tenacity.
      A lot of people might see The Great Lee Jun Fan doing Kung-Fu and actually be intimidated, immediately tell themselves, "theres no way, I could never do that!!" but your first impulse is to accept the challenge.
      Thats a strength and I disagree that everyone has that fire inside, I would venture to say that not enough have it.

    What's really amazing is that the Rhino has a long and heavy trigger pull in DA. Newer models are supposed to be lighter, but this video is nearly a decade old and Jerry said he had the gun in a box for a few years. It's possible he had the trigger worked on and didn't mention it, but I would think he would have. So, if he's pulling a standard, old trigger, then it truly is amazing that he can shoot that fast and accurately with the DA trigger.

    The Rhino 200DS is my EDC and must say I really like it. Many people shit talk this revolver for it looks but it absolutely does reduce muzzle flip to almost nothing on the .38 and .357 to me feels like it’s in between a .38 and .38+P.
    I’ve been shooting revolvers for over 30 years and this is one of my most favorite guns to carry oh and my nickel SW model 15 snub.
    Just my opinion.

      Hmm I think it's just a different aim point because of the barrel location but nothing crazy, once you shoot 50 rds through it you'll see how accurate it is. Obviously when I go from the rhino to my Model 15 I do adjust grip but really not bad just remember to watch thumb if your the type that holds revolvers in a semi auto grip that thumb will be right at the gas release point of the cylinder.
      I was actually thinking of getting the 3 in which imo is the perfect size for these guns but prices are expensive, I paid $650 for mine new.

      ***** With me, it's like before I TRY to pull the trigger. Even with both thumbs on the hammer, I can't cock that blasted gun and my fingers are trembling after 3-4 shots double action. It's too hard for this old lady to shoot. Am going to put some snap caps into the thing and dry fire it double action. I'll have to do so with my off-hand as well, or I'll end up with muscles in my right hand and arm like yours, Jerry, and none in my left hand and arm! That gun wears me out. I think the trigger pull on it double action is about 35 pounds and I have no idea about the single-action because that's never gonna happen for me in this life! I'm so disappointed because it's a fascinating gun, but I like my S&W Performance Center 627 a LOT more. That's a sweet revolver. Love at first shot.

    The grip that Chiappa wants you to use is very weird compared to the conventional weaver grip. With your left hand, wrap your thumb down behind your right joint for your thumb on your right hand. That way you avoid getting caught by getting cut or burned.

    The major plus of the Chiappa is that the impulse is straighter into the hand because it shoots out the bottom cylinder. This means there's no harsh blister inducing torquing of the grip shooting .357 mag. (Anyone who's shot .44 mag knows exactly what I'm talking about). Further, as long as you can find the front sight, the rakish grip angle really won't affect accuracy, as it's otherwise very trim and ergonomic (as opposed to the rakish but bulky Glock grip angle).

    Seems like an easy fix putting a shield below that cylinder where it wont burn you. I've seen this gun before and your right. The grip is different. Very interesting gum. I was warned by the store of the barrel placement and could get burned. Thanks for an excellent video.

    In Italian the Chi and double cc make a hard consonant sound like k not the soft c sound as we would produce in English. It is pronounced like (KEY AH PA) chiappa or (FEE OH KEY) Fiocchi.

    In all seriousness, though. Nice video. Thanks, Jerry.
    I'd love to see this thing hybridized with the idea behind the Medusa M47 revolver and then offered with bigger and smaller cylinders as well as at LEAST adding the 3" size class, and preferably move to half inch increments starting at 2" and maybe going as far as 8"

      Hitting stuff is second, shooting fast is third...safety is ALWAYS first.
      I started out shooting .22 rifles and if you made just a slight mistake you'd be on air-rifles for a week. Screw up with an air-rifle and you'd be tossing darts at a dartboard for a week...screw that up and you wouldn't get near an official gun club (which is the only way to get licensed in my country)
      I'm proud to say that I've never had an AD and I graduated to long range shooting (100 and 200 meter, 6.5mm or .308/7.62mm NATO) in no time :-)

    As I understand it, the low barrel is to reduce muzzle rise. Any comments on that?

    • @johnski4709
      @johnski4709 9 лет назад +5

      Seth Jensen I have the 4" rhino. Yes it does reduce recoil impulse by about 40%. Shooting 38 special feels like you are shooting a .22, shooting .357 magnum feels like shooting 38 special, fwiw. I like it and carry mine alot as my self defene edc.

    Nobody seems to get the point of this gun. Putting the barrel low in the frame like that, brings it down closer to being inline with your arm, which will reduce muzzle flip up. Muzzle flip is caused by the barrel being higher than the your hand, or than your shoulder in the case of rifles. This idea should work.

    I own a rhino 200ds for concealed carry. Took a while to get used to but I do like it, especially for .357 loads. I can't see the point of the larger models since recoil is pretty manageable in the larger standard revolvers. I do have some concerns about long term reliability since the mechanism is not tried and true like other revolvers. Any gunsmiths or engineers out there have the same concerns? Thanks.

    • @mawmawvee
      @mawmawvee 10 лет назад +2

      One thing about carrying the Rhino as far as cc--The trigger pull is so heavy that that gun would NEVER be in danger of an accidental discharge! You'd have to attach it to a team of horses to make it fire. :D

    • @hugostiglitz9864
      @hugostiglitz9864 10 лет назад +1

      Yes, I have no worries about accidental discharge. The leather OWB hoster that came with the gun is pretty good. Nice concealment under a polo shirt.

    • @mawmawvee
      @mawmawvee 10 лет назад +1

      Hi Hugo, I have LOT of concerns about this revolver, ever since I got it and found that I couldn't fire it single action because I can't even begin to cock the lever! I can hardly pull the trigger and have decided that the trigger pull on my gun has got to be about 35 lb. Chiappa said it was fine like it was and sent the gun back to us after they checked it out. I don't believe it is right. They don't have very good "bedside manner" in their customer service department, IOO. I have a snubby. When I was at a gun shop, I knew the false hammer was real hard to cock, but I could pull the trigger without too much problem.
      I am sorry I got this gun. And I'm not sorry. Depends upon what day it is.
      It surely does keep the recoil down and mine is a snubby and I'm a little old lady.
      If nothing else, we can think of ourselves as daring pioneers.....

    • @hugostiglitz9864
      @hugostiglitz9864 10 лет назад +1

      *****
      You definitely need strong hands to use this gun. I only fire it single action at the range. For carry purposes, the heavy trigger pull is fine by me. If you are concerned, maybe you can have a good gunsmith do an action job and lighten the trigger pull for you. I'm not sure how many gunsmiths work on rhinos but maybe Chiappa can recommend someone. Good luck!

    • @mawmawvee
      @mawmawvee 10 лет назад +1

      HugoStiglitz Thanks for the good wishes with the Rhino. Many gunsmiths won't touch this revolver. Chiappa said that if the trigger pull is lightened, then you would need to use rounds with light primers, or you'll get misfires. I wish I'd known all of this before buying my Rhino. I'll still play with it at the range. I won't be shooting it upside down with my little finger, though. LOL!
