Melissa, I truly appreciate your in-depth videos on how and what to apply with the ordinary products. Your videos have been so helpful to me. Thank you and blessings
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial I have a broken capillary r spider vein I don't know about it on my face, so can you do it with a ordinary aha BHA peeling use my face ?
@@Basit759 I think it's best to see a dermatologist for your broken capillaries. Still, don't forget to use sunscreen throughout the day to make it worse.
Thank you for this video Melissa.I love The Ordinary peeling solution.I made a review on it and everyone loves it.It really helped in clearing out my skin
the video was so straight forward and informative. i have oily and break out prone skin. My biggest concerns about my skin is my pores, blackheads and little bumps and some dark acne scars. I just decide to change my skin care routine and have constant one so i purchased the ordinary 30% aha solution as my first chemical exfoliation product. I currently use boscia detoxifying black cleanser. I also bought iunik tea tree relief serum and iunik centella calming gel cream as a moisturizer. I bought la roche posay anthelios spf 50+ dry touch anti shine sunscreen. So my question is that is it fine to apply iunik tea tree relief serum and then the iunik centella calming gel cream after this peeling solution? The serum includes tea tree oil, centella asiatica leaf water, 2% niacinamide. I heard that sometimes acids and niacinamide can react with each other. And is there any product you suggested for my routine such as toner, any other cleanser, mask, ingredient, or treatment products that can help with my skin?
Hey :) Thank you! :) I recommend only adding your moisturiser after the Peeling Solution because Tea Tree can be drying and it may be a bit irritating when using it after such a strong exfoliating acid mask. To answer your question about Niacinamide and exfoliating acids, have a look at this video here: Can I use Niacinamide with AHA or BHA (Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Mandelic Acid, Salicylic Acid): ruclips.net/video/Pw1iWF_Hdnk/видео.html Also, have a look at those videos: How To Use The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution | Full & In-Depth Demonstration: ruclips.net/video/wSY0pYcy8KY/видео.html Skin Care Routine Order Morning and Night: ruclips.net/video/SZr-0xZq6UE/видео.html My husband has oily skin and he enjoys the combination of using Paula's Choice Vitamin C Serum and Azelaic Acid Booster. This combination keeps the oily at bay and even's out his skin tone. So, you could use your Serum and Moisturiser + SPF in the AM and Paula's Choice Vitamin C Serum and Azelaic Acid Booster in the PM. Also, when using the Peeling Solution, just follow with your moisturiser. If you have oily skin, using a moisturiser is not necessary, try skipping it as well so that you can see what works the best for you! :)
Thank you for this video! Everyone talks about how to use the Peeling Solution but few advise what products to pair it with afterwards. Using the product for the 1st time tonight and applying rose hip oil right after...hope to get it right!!! 😀

u could do it at night and then rinse your face with water , moisturizer then when u wake up wash ur face with cleanser normally and do ur skincare routine
You don't wash you face all over again use your cleanser, toner(optional), peeling solution, and moisturizer. You don't re wash after you use this product
Hi Melissa! Can I use retinol in the same routine after i used the peel? Or should I not do both in the same day? For example: 1. Wash face 2. Peeling Mask 3. Hyaluronic Acid 4. Retinol 5. Niacimide 6. Moisturizer. I’m pretty new to skincare so I want to make sure I’m doing things right! Thank you!
@Mónica Mancía PM: (Once a week) 1. Wash face 2. Peeling Mask 3. Hyaluronic Acid (Water-Based Serum) 4. Niacinamide (Water-Based Serum) 5. Retinol (Anhydrous solution or emulsion) 6. Moisturizer (Cream) But since you are pretty new to skincare, I recommend not using them all at once, and it can be quite overwhelming for the skin. Also, have a look at these videos: How To Use The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% in Emulsion | Full Demonstration: ruclips.net/video/kDGExkptI1c/видео.html How To Use The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution | Full & In-Depth Demonstration: ruclips.net/video/wSY0pYcy8KY/видео.html The general rule of thumb for order of application is: 1. Water-based serums 2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations 3. Creams & suspensions Important: If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first). And it’s recommended applying eye-serums (such as Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG) first after cleansing. And a maximum of three serum formulations in a single regimen. Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!!
This is really helpful, thank you so much. I usually follow with micellar water, then niacinamide +zinc serum and a light moisturiser. I think I will now incorporate maybe some Argan oil, possibly some coconut oil? And ditching the micellar as its feels to drying. I did a thin AHA/BHA masque for the first time in a couple of months today, my skin feels much sorer than usual (which is expected, I guess as the peeling process has started). I'm concerned that the niacinamide+zinc is interacting?
Hey :) Thank you! You could add a toner to your routine as well such as the Paula's Choice Enriched Calming Toner (that's one I like a lot!) Or as you've mentioned, add an oil and skip the Micellar Water :) The oil you choose depends on your preference! I don't like heavy oils, and out of all the Ordinary oils I love the B-Oil the most and like to mix it with my moisturizer :) Did it burn or sting while you were using the mask? Niacinamide and AHA or BHA exfoliating acids can be used in the same routine without a problem :) Hope this helps :)
Hi, your videos are very good I learn a lot just wanted to ask I have been using the peeling solution for quite a while now but never used retinol is this routine okay? 1- wash face 2- peeling solution 3- niacinamide 4- retinol 5- moisturiser
Hey, No. Keep the Peeling Solution and Retinol in separate routines. I recommend using Retinol only when not using the Peeling Solution. So, let's say you are using the Peeling Solution every Sunday; you can use your Retinol throughout the week, except for Sunday. If you would use your Retinol after the Peeling Solution (which is a stronger exfoliating mask), this can lead to irritation/sensitivity. Also, I recommend watching this video here: How To Get Started With Retinol: ruclips.net/video/2w9RN-F4y4M/видео.html
I love using Rose hip oil immediately after I do The Ordinary peel. It feels nourishing to my skin. I have Oily skin , otherwise normal, not sensitive ot acne prone.
I did mention the moisturiser at the beginning of the video😅 It's the Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA. Well you get normal moisturisers without SPF, then you would need to use a separate sunscreen on top of your moisturiser or you get a moisturiser that has already SPF in it, then it is like a 2 in 1 😊
hi melissa. it's commendable that you respond to all the comments. tbh, i only ever used lotion on my face and body, and im new to all these skin care supplies. i've been watching all these yt videos the past couple of weeks and have ordered a few of the supplies. im confused about when (morning or night or certain days a week) and in what order i should apply all the serums/oils that i have (or maybe i shouldn't apply some?) -- there's so much and different info out there, making it confusing. can you please help me? I have vitamin c serum, retinol serum, hyaluronic acid serum, ordinary aha 30% + bha 2% peeling solution, argon oil, jojoba oil, vitamin c oil. im also thinking about purchasing either glycolic acid or salicylic acid -- which one would you recommend? i would really appreciate your feedback. thank you.
Hey😊 Well, what is your skin type and what are your skin concerns? Also, can you list the products by name and from what brand so that I can look them up and help you to set up a routine😅
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial hey, thanks for replying! my skin is on the dry side if i don't apply any moisturizer. i have a few old acne scares. i get a pimple here and there once in a while, but nothing major. i would like to minimize my pores. the vitamin c serum, retinol serum, hyaluronic acid serum are from tree of life (on amazon). the organic argon oil and organic jojoba oil is from cliganic. and the vitamin e oil is from bos essentials. and the ordinary aha 30% + bha 2% peeling solution. so far, i've used the ordinary peel once. and i use the oils to moisturize my face and body. i have yet to use any of the tree of life serums. also, my mom has hyper-pigmentation on her forehead and cheeks -- is there an acid or product that you recommend for that?
@@nkaur5706 Hey😊 I had a look at your serums of tree of life and the good thing is they include Vitamin C derivatives which means that you can add the Ordinary Niacinamide Serum into your routine which targets large pores. If you prefer to use the Ordinary Niacinamide - that one can not be used with any form of Vitamin C (based on the conflict chart from the Ordinary) therefore I recommend the serum. So, the general rule of application is this: - Cleanser - Toner - Exfoliator - Serum - Oil - Moisturiser - SPF This is from the Ordinary: The general rule of thumb for order of application is: 1. Water-based serums 2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations 3. Lotions & Creams & suspensions Important: If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first). It’s recommended using no more than 3 serum formulations in a single routine for optimal skin penetration. About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck. Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing." Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!! AM Routine: - Cleanse - Niacinamide - Vitamin C - (Optional) Oil - (Optional) Moisturiser PM Routine: - Cleanse - (Optional) Glycolic Or Lactic Acid - Hyaluronic Acid - Retinol - (Optional) Oil - (Optional) Moisturiser Or PM Routine: - Cleanse - Hyaluronic Acid - Retinol - (Optional) Mandelic Acid - (Optional) Oil - (Optional) Moisturiser PM 2 Routine (1-2 times per week): - Cleanse - Peeling Solution - Hyaluronic Acid - (Optional) Oil - (Optional) Moisturiser What oil you want to use it up to you! See what feels the best! I always write it as optional since this is personal preference and you have to try it😅 If you don’t like the oils, try it without it or replace it with a moisturizer…this is something you’ll notice while applying the products😊 You can choose between Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid and Mandelic Acid - they are all great - personally since I have a bit of a drier skin myself - I like Mandelic Acid a lot! Now when using Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid - those are water-based products which you apply after cleansing (or toning if you use one) but before the other serums. However, if you want to get Mandelic Acid - this is an anhydrous solution which you are going to use after your water-based products but before the oils! When using the Peeling solution please do not use Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid or Mandelic Acid that evening… Also for your acne scars/spots that are darker - I recommend Alpha Arbutin😊 Hope this helps! What kind of pigmentation does your mum have? Like an uneven tone or spots?

Hello Melissa! Can you use toner before the peeling solution?. I was also wondering if i could use only the 100% plant-Derived Squalane after the peeling solution or the Squalane with the Cerave facial moisturizer with Nothing more added after. I know that you should use sunscreen after But i live in Sweden and its winter, is it compulsory to add sunscreen?. I am Really scared using this product. Sorry for My bad english and i Would be Happy if you replied.
Hm, I was thinking about this recently. Technically it would help if you used the toner (hydrating and soothing toner) after the peel. But it can make sense to add it before as well to replenish the skin. However I never do that, so therefore I recommend using it after. Just be careful not to confuse it with an exfoliator ( ruclips.net/video/EWU7vvGM9EM/видео.html) Yes, you should add hydration. I am not sure if the Squalane would be enough, so it may be best to combine it with your moisturizer. But ultimately, you need to test it to see how it feels on your skin. There is no need to be scared. You can watch the following video if you like(it contains a lot of information) : How to Apply The Ordinary 30% AHA + 2% BHA Peeling Solution: ruclips.net/video/alyaPIaMLs4/видео.html I recently wanted to move to Sweden since your government has such a relaxed approach to the current situation. The Ordinary does not recommend using Vitamin C and Niacinamide in the same routine. So you can use your Vitamin C in the AM and Niacinamide in the PM (also after the Peeling Solution) :)

Heyo! First off, Your videos are amazing. 22 female and ive always had huge pores and texture issues.. Ive been trying to come up with a routine.. heres what i have already as and some stuff I’m considering ordering: cervave cleanser, aha bha peeling, Niacinamide + zinc, caffeine solution, lactic acid 5% + ha, glycolic acid 7%, retinol 5% in squalene, vit c moisturizer, and then spf. My main goals are texture, large pores, and aging/fine lines. What would ya recommend? Would i benefit from the glycolic toner or lactic acid? I was told to get By a friend but have been too nervous to touch it lol. Also I’m not sure if you can give any advice on this, but someone was posting how you can use the glycolic acid toner or the lactic acid for hyperpigmentation on bikini area? Tysm in advance!
Hello Erica, I think this is too much, and you are using too many acids; either go with the Peeling Solution that you use 1-2 times per week or Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid. Make sure to choose the right cleanser for your needs. Dry Skin = CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser Oily Skin = CeraVe Foaming Cleanser AHA = Alpha Hydroxy Acids = Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid They both have similar benefits, and Lactic Acid is generally better tolerated, so I suggest using that one on your face. And using the Glycolic Acid on your body (if you want to, you can use it on these areas, but I do not do it as I am concerned about the amount of acid or generally ingredients that get absorbed in these sensitive areas, but lots of people seem to do it) And for Retinoid/Retinol I suggest using the lowest strength in the beginning, so that would be Granactive Retinoid 2% in Emulsion (is the better formulation) or a Retinol (which is different from the retinoid) in 0,2%. But using the 5% may be unnecessary, and even when combined with your other ingredients (acids) can lead to irritation. AM: CeraVe Cleanser (or water, depends on your needs) Caffeine Solution Niacinamide + zinc SPF PM 1(3-4 times a week): CeraVe Cleanser Caffeine Solution Granactive Retinoid 2% in Emulsion PM 2 (rest of the week) CeraVe Cleanser Lactic Acid (my suggestion) or Glycolic Acid Vitamin C Moisturizer Peeling Solution (not needed, or my suggestion is not using the acids for a few days and instead use the peel in the evening, maybe every two weeks or so, but you really need to adjust this to your needs, I can't help you much with it)
hi can I use the niacinamide serum straight away after the peel or do I have to wait for 1-2 minutes? and after the serum can I use my moisturiser? ps this is totally unrelated but do u think the simple micellar facial wash is strong enough to remove sunscreen with spf 50? Thanks!

Thanks for the video! Recently I ordered The Ordinary Azelaic Acid and Niacinamide, I would like to ask how I can use them? Should I separate them into am and pm or can use both together? Also in the evening, my dermatologist prescribed me sulfur. Can I use azelaic acid with sulfur or no? Will be grateful for your reply!
Well, you can use Niacinamide and Azelaic Acid in the same routine. But, you could use them in the morning and your sulfur cream(?)in the evening. If you want to be safe, just ask your dermatologist if you can combine them in the same routine because I am not sure about that.
Hey :) No, have a look at the video below: Can I Use The Ordinary AHA30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution with Glycolic, Lactic or Salicylic Acid: ruclips.net/video/0Qj-2gZn9L4/видео.html
Yes you can use it every other night. However, how often you should exfoliate depends on your skin type and skin concerns. Some people do well exfoliating with AHA or BHA twice a day, whereas others find that once a day or every other day is a perfect balance. Test to see what works best for your skin.
Would you please answer my two questions since you're an expert at this. Can I use whitening serum one day after using the ordinary peeling solution? And I'm using an at home ipl hair removal device What's the safe time length to keep between the ordinary peeling solution and the at home ipl hair removal device PLEASE ANSWER.
It is not recommended to use a whitening serum one day after using The Ordinary Peeling Solution. This is because the peeling solution can cause skin sensitivity and irritation, and using a whitening serum may further irritate the skin. Regarding the use of an at-home IPL hair removal device after using The Ordinary Peeling Solution, it is best to wait at least a week before using the device. This is because the peeling solution can cause the skin to become more sensitive and using an IPL device too soon after can increase the risk of skin irritation, redness, or burning.

Since when are you using those products? And how are they working for you so far? After you're done with your current routine, how does your skin feel? Hydrated or still dry? Do you have sensitive skin? And do you suffer from Rosacea? Also, since when do you experience red skin?
Melissa Van Dijk I’ve been using for a couple weeks - really enjoying it so far, my skin texture is feeling much better but still has a long way to go. I’m not diagnosed with rosacea but have very red cheeks that I think it’s definitely a possibility! My skin feels hydrated after using these products but not greasy or oily at all - could still be more hydrated! I thought I had fairly sensitive skin but haven’t had any issues with the new routine so far, I’ve just always tended to go for more basic products. My main goals are to reduce redness and to get smoother skin - my face is fairly rough/bumpy and it really gets me down how it shows under foundation. Thanks for your reply!
@@sarahglass3344 Well, your skincare routine looks so far good. However, I recommend stop using the Peeling Solution, and I do not recommend using Glycolic Acid or any other type of AHA since this can make the skin-redness worse...which we don't want! Still, you can try Azelaic Acid for sure! Either the one from the Ordinary or Paula's Choice (the texture is different!). For your redness, you may want to try Antioxidants like EUK 134 from the Ordinary since it mentions that it targets redness. Why do you want to try out Alpha Arbutin? For what concerns?😊
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Thanks for your response and advice! Will avoid the Glycolic acid - was worried about it but the skin texture/pore benefits appealed to me. Will also look into EUK 134 - Thanks! I wanted to try to Alpha Arbutin after seeing multiple people on youtube saying they've used it to help clear redness (i.e. ruclips.net/video/KUAJS1UHYR4/видео.html&ab_channel=GeorgePopovic). Along with hopefully evening out skin texture.
Personally, I would use it on the days/evening when not using any makeup. Unfortunately, I do not have a correct answer for this, but probably 15-30 minutes so that the skin can adjust the pH again.
Before applying the mask, wash your face with the hydrating cleanser, and when removing the mask, water should be enough! You may want to use a washcloth as well, but usually there is not second cleanse with your cleanser needed :)
This is great! Can I use a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide gel before my moisturizer after applying the mask? Or should I skip using benzoyl peroxide for once this night?
From my experience, it's best to skip it since it can irritate the skin. But this may be individual depending on your skin type. But since you are only using the mask once or twice a week, it may be best not to use it.

Well, there are several options available, and I actually have an older video that explains how to set it up. You can find the video here: ruclips.net/video/diaLVk_EsI4/видео.html Just a quick tip: The Ordinary Glycolic Acid toner is also an exfoliating acid toner. Therefore, avoid using it on the same day that you plan to use the peeling solution.

What oil and moisturiser do you use? Depending on the oil and moisturiser, you either apply the oil first and moisturiser on top or the other way around.
Yeah that's fine!😊 Wash your face with the cleanser - pat the skin dry - wait for the skin to be try - apply the peeling solution - rinse of with water after 10 min.
hii, thank you for the helpful vid! i was wondering if it was ok to put almond oil after the mask, and then put a retinol serum, and lastly include a moisturizer? thank you! :) i’m not sure if this order is ok as well as if the retinol is safe to use after the mask :))
Yes, you can add your retinol serum after the mask, still, if you want to incorporate multiple Vitamin C's, Retinoids, and/or Direct Acids into your skincare regimen, I suggested using them on alternate evenings and waiting until your skin has adjusted to one before introducing another. What Retinol Serum do you use? And yes, you can add your oil and moisturiser after that as well, just make sure that it doesn't feel to heavy!😊
Hi Melissa, I am planning on including this peeling solution and niacinamide in my skincare routine. Is it okay if I use the ordinary niacinamide serum everyday twice a day and use it after the peeling solution? And I want to know wbat you think abt my planned routine. AM: Cleanser The Ordinary Niacinamide Moisturiser Sunscreen PM Cleanser The Ordinary SA Masque(Wednesdays only) The Ordinary Niacinamide Moisturiser My plan is to use the peeling solution on Sundays so my skin will have time and not over exfoliate. I wanna know what you think. Thank you so much.
Hey :) Your routine looks great! Yes, that's fine you can use both masks during the same week if you have a break in between :) I recommend using Niacinamide once per day for a while to see how your skin reacts to it before using it twice per day :) This way you will see what your skin prefers :)
Please do not do that. The peeling solution is a powerful peel that should be used cautiously. Combining them can lead to severe irritation. You can follow this guide: How To Use The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution | Full & In-Depth Demonstration: ruclips.net/video/wSY0pYcy8KY/видео.html

@@jazilakram6226 If that was the case, it's best to wait 2-3 days in between before using your scrub. What kind of masks do you use? If those are just hydrating masks, you can use them the next day after the peeling solution. That's fine.
No, please do not use Glycolic Acid after the peeling solution as both exfoliate the skin, use only one of them in your PM routine. When using the Peeling solution don't use Glycolic Acid and vice versa. But you are fine to use Niacinamide after the peeling solution or Glycolic Acid :)

How to Apply The Ordinary 30% AHA + 2% BHA Peeling Solution with Niacinamide and Alpha Arbutin:
ruclips.net/video/alyaPIaMLs4/видео.html
the video was so straight forward and informative. i have oily and break out prone skin.
Hey :)
Thank you! :)
I recommend only adding your moisturiser after the Peeling Solution because Tea Tree can be drying and it may be a bit irritating when using it after such a strong exfoliating acid mask.

My husband has oily skin and he enjoys the combination of using Paula's Choice Vitamin C Serum and Azelaic Acid Booster.

Hi Melissa! Can I use retinol in the same routine after i used the peel? Or should I not do both in the same day? For example: 1. Wash face 2. Peeling Mask 3. Hyaluronic Acid 4. Retinol 5. Niacimide 6. Moisturizer. I’m pretty new to skincare so I want to make sure I’m doing things right! Thank you!
@Mónica Mancía
PM: (Once a week)
1. Wash face
2. Peeling Mask
3. Hyaluronic Acid (Water-Based Serum)
4. Niacinamide (Water-Based Serum)
5. Retinol (Anhydrous solution or emulsion)
6. Moisturizer (Cream)
But since you are pretty new to skincare, I recommend not using them all at once, and it can be quite overwhelming for the skin.

The general rule of thumb for order of application is:
1. Water-based serums
2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations
3. Creams & suspensions
Important:
If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first). And it’s recommended applying eye-serums (such as Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG) first after cleansing.
And a maximum of three serum formulations in a single regimen.
Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!!
Melissa Van Dijk thanks so much for your reply!!! Its super helpful
Thank you very much, you got straight to the point and this was all i needed.❤
This is really helpful, thank you so much. I usually follow with micellar water, then niacinamide +zinc serum and a light moisturiser. I think I will now incorporate maybe some Argan oil, possibly some coconut oil? And ditching the micellar as its feels to drying.
I did a thin AHA/BHA masque for the first time in a couple of months today, my skin feels much sorer than usual (which is expected, I guess as the peeling process has started). I'm concerned that the niacinamide+zinc is interacting?
Hey :)
Thank you!
You could add a toner to your routine as well such as the Paula's Choice Enriched Calming Toner (that's one I like a lot!) Or as you've mentioned, add an oil and skip the Micellar Water :) The oil you choose depends on your preference! I don't like heavy oils, and out of all the Ordinary oils I love the B-Oil the most and like to mix it with my moisturizer :)
Did it burn or sting while you were using the mask?
Niacinamide and AHA or BHA exfoliating acids can be used in the same routine without a problem :)
Hope this helps :)
Hi, your videos are very good I learn a lot just wanted to ask I have been using the peeling solution for quite a while now but never used retinol is this routine okay?
1- wash face
2- peeling solution
3- niacinamide
4- retinol
5- moisturiser
Hey,
No.
Also, I recommend watching this video here:
How To Get Started With Retinol: ruclips.net/video/2w9RN-F4y4M/видео.html
Hello!! Can i also use niacinamide after peeling solution as well? And thankyou soo much for great videos 😍❤️
Yes you can! :)
I love using Rose hip oil immediately after I do The Ordinary peel. It feels nourishing to my skin. I have Oily skin , otherwise normal, not sensitive ot acne prone.
If that works well for you, keep doing it like that! :)
Could you put in in your introduction what moisturizer you are using from The Ordinary and also wouldn't i have to use a sunscreen moisturizer?
I did mention the moisturiser at the beginning of the video😅 It's the Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA.
Well you get normal moisturisers without SPF, then you would need to use a separate sunscreen on top of your moisturiser or you get a moisturiser that has already SPF in it, then it is like a 2 in 1 😊
Great advice as always. Thank you 😊
This helped a lot. Thank you very much! :)
You're welcome!
hi melissa. it's commendable that you respond to all the comments. tbh, i only ever used lotion on my face and body, and im new to all these skin care supplies. i've been watching all these yt videos the past couple of weeks and have ordered a few of the supplies. im confused about when (morning or night or certain days a week) and in what order i should apply all the serums/oils that i have (or maybe i shouldn't apply some?) -- there's so much and different info out there, making it confusing. can you please help me? I have vitamin c serum, retinol serum, hyaluronic acid serum, ordinary aha 30% + bha 2% peeling solution, argon oil, jojoba oil, vitamin c oil. im also thinking about purchasing either glycolic acid or salicylic acid -- which one would you recommend? i would really appreciate your feedback. thank you.

@@nkaur5706 Hey😊
I had a look at your serums of tree of life and the good thing is they include Vitamin C derivatives which means that you can add the Ordinary Niacinamide Serum into your routine which targets large pores.
If you prefer to use the Ordinary Niacinamide - that one can not be used with any form of Vitamin C (based on the conflict chart from the Ordinary) therefore I recommend the serum.
So, the general rule of application is this:
- Cleanser
- Toner
- Exfoliator
- Serum
- Oil
- Moisturiser
- SPF
This is from the Ordinary:
The general rule of thumb for order of application is:
1. Water-based serums
2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations
3. Lotions & Creams & suspensions
Important:
If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first).
It’s recommended using no more than 3 serum formulations in a single routine for optimal skin penetration.
About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck.
Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing."
Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!!
AM Routine:
- Cleanse
- Niacinamide
- Vitamin C
- (Optional) Oil
- (Optional) Moisturiser
PM Routine:
- Cleanse
- (Optional) Glycolic Or Lactic Acid
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Retinol
- (Optional) Oil
- (Optional) Moisturiser
Or
PM Routine:
- Cleanse
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Retinol
- (Optional) Mandelic Acid
- (Optional) Oil
- (Optional) Moisturiser
PM 2 Routine (1-2 times per week):
- Cleanse
- Peeling Solution
- Hyaluronic Acid
- (Optional) Oil
- (Optional) Moisturiser
What oil you want to use it up to you! See what feels the best! I always write it as optional since this is personal preference and you have to try it😅
If you don’t like the oils, try it without it or replace it with a moisturizer…this is something you’ll notice while applying the products😊
You can choose between Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid and Mandelic Acid - they are all great - personally since I have a bit of a drier skin myself - I like Mandelic Acid a lot!
Now when using Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid - those are water-based products which you apply after cleansing (or toning if you use one) but before the other serums. However, if you want to get Mandelic Acid - this is an anhydrous solution which you are going to use after your water-based products but before the oils!
When using the Peeling solution please do not use Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid or Mandelic Acid that evening…
Also for your acne scars/spots that are darker - I recommend Alpha Arbutin😊
Hope this helps!

Just be careful not to confuse it with an exfoliator ( ruclips.net/video/EWU7vvGM9EM/видео.html)
Yes, you should add hydration. I am not sure if the Squalane would be enough, so it may be best to combine it with your moisturizer. But ultimately, you need to test it to see how it feels on your skin.
There is no need to be scared. You can watch the following video if you like(it contains a lot of information) :

Some products can have a foaming effect upon application depending on the other products you are using in your regimen. The foaming should not last longer than a few seconds and both should not remain sticky once absorbed into the skin. (Video: ruclips.net/video/r04W7rQV1R0/видео.html)
"Pilling" (snakeskin, shedding) can occur due to too much product. Your skin can only absorb a certain amount of product, and any excess will be left on top of the skin so that when the next product is being applied, it rubs off. (Video: ruclips.net/video/l_C7HtO826A/видео.html)

Hello Erica,
I think this is too much, and you are using too many acids; either go with the Peeling Solution that you use 1-2 times per week or Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid.
Make sure to choose the right cleanser for your needs.
Dry Skin = CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
Oily Skin = CeraVe Foaming Cleanser
AHA = Alpha Hydroxy Acids = Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid
They both have similar benefits, and Lactic Acid is generally better tolerated, so I suggest using that one on your face. And using the Glycolic Acid on your body (if you want to, you can use it on these areas, but I do not do it as I am concerned about the amount of acid or generally ingredients that get absorbed in these sensitive areas, but lots of people seem to do it)
And for Retinoid/Retinol I suggest using the lowest strength in the beginning, so that would be Granactive Retinoid 2% in Emulsion (is the better formulation) or a Retinol (which is different from the retinoid) in 0,2%. But using the 5% may be unnecessary, and even when combined with your other ingredients (acids) can lead to irritation.
AM:
CeraVe Cleanser (or water, depends on your needs)
Caffeine Solution
Niacinamide + zinc
SPF
PM 1(3-4 times a week):
CeraVe Cleanser
Caffeine Solution
Granactive Retinoid 2% in Emulsion
PM 2 (rest of the week)
CeraVe Cleanser
Lactic Acid (my suggestion) or Glycolic Acid
Vitamin C Moisturizer
Peeling Solution (not needed, or my suggestion is not using the acids for a few days and instead use the peel in the evening, maybe every two weeks or so, but you really need to adjust this to your needs, I can't help you much with it)

@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thanks a lot!! ❤️
Can i use cetaphil moisturizer after this💕
Yes you can
I'm currently using a cetaphil moisturiser
Hello, I love your video and I was wondering if I can use lactic acid after the AHA chemical peel?
Hey :)
No, have a look at the video below:
Can I Use The Ordinary AHA30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution with Glycolic, Lactic or Salicylic Acid: ruclips.net/video/0Qj-2gZn9L4/видео.html
if I use the peeling solution once a week, can I also use the lactic acid every other night or should I only use one at a time?
Yes you can use it every other night. However, how often you should exfoliate depends on your skin type and skin concerns. Some people do well exfoliating with AHA or BHA twice a day, whereas others find that once a day or every other day is a perfect balance. Test to see what works best for your skin.
thankyou!
Would you please answer my two questions since you're an expert at this. Can I use whitening serum one day after using the ordinary peeling solution?
And I'm using an at home ipl hair removal device
What's the safe time length to keep between the ordinary peeling solution and the at home ipl hair removal device PLEASE ANSWER.
Hi! I suffer from dry skin, but also very red skin.
My current routine is (the ordinary and CeraVe):
AM
-CeraVe SA Cleanser
-Hyaluronic Acid
-Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors
PM
-Squalene Cleanser
-CeraVe SA Cleanser
-Niacinamide and Zinc
-Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors
ONCE A WEEK
-AHA & BHA Peeling Solution
I was wanting to add the following to my routine:
-Azelaic Acid Suspension
-Glycolic Toning Solution
-Alpha Arbutin
Do you think these are safe to add to my routine? If so, where in the routine should I add them?
Also currently looking for a face suncream if anyone has any recommendations.
Thank you, loved the video! Open to anyones ideas!
Since when are you using those products? And how are they working for you so far? After you're done with your current routine, how does your skin feel? Hydrated or still dry?
Do you have sensitive skin? And do you suffer from Rosacea? Also, since when do you experience red skin?
Melissa Van Dijk
I’ve been using for a couple weeks - really enjoying it so far, my skin texture is feeling much better but still has a long way to go.
Melissa Van Dijk
I didn’t see your last question sorry - I’ve had red skin since puberty! I’m now 22 so for the past 7 years or so!
Along with hopefully evening out skin texture.
hi, how long i should wait to put on makeup after using peeling solution? thank youu love the video
Personally, I would use it on the days/evening when not using any makeup. Unfortunately, I do not have a correct answer for this, but probably 15-30 minutes so that the skin can adjust the pH again.
Heyy can I use CeraVe hydrating cleanser for dry skin after?? 🙌🙌
Hey. So this is an irrelevant question/ comment but can you, Melissa review my skin care routine. i also have the ordinary. Please!
I can't see it; maybe you forgot to add it. 🤔

awesome video :) would the "malin+goetz recovery treatment oil" be a good moisturizer to use after?
Hey 😀 Yes, looks like a great option. :) Experiment and see if it works well after the solution. Generally speaking, most oils are a good option just try to avoid oils that can irritate your skin, so always patch test before using them.
Hi 😊 Greetings from Malaysia!
I love your videos and you're really awesome 🌻
I've a question.
I'm 22 and I've oily skin, acne scars, PIH with few acne. I've been using neutrogena foam cleanser, neutrogena alcohol free toner, The Ordinary niacinamide and neutrogena hydro boost moisturiser.
After watching your videos, I'm planning to buy The ordinary retinoid emulsion, aha bha peeling solution and glycolic acid. Is there anything that you could suggest me on the products that I'm planning to purchase or the ones that I'm currently using? I'll really appreciate it if you help me on this and thank you so much in advance! 😊
And also could you please suggest me a good sunscreen preferably from drugstore?
Thanks again ☺️ @melissavandijk
Hello 😀 from Austria 🇦🇹
Well, I have had a bad experience with the Hydro Boost line, except the cleanser, but I haven’t used it regularly.
Based on your concerns, an example routine could look like this:
AM
Cleanser
Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
(Moisturizer if needed)
SPF
PM (best option but the main product is not available)
Cleanser
Salicylic Acid 2% Solution (currently not available)
Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
100% Plant-Derived Squalane
PM1 (5 times a week)
Cleanser
Glycolic Acid 7%
Granactive Retinoid Emulsion 2%
Borage Seed Oil
PM2 (2times a week, for example, Monday and Thursday):
AHA 30% + BHA 2%
Borage Seed oil or 100% Plant-Derived Squalane
Drugstore Sunscreen 🤔 I don't know sorry😞 I haven't tried many, and I am sticking with La Roche Posay Anthelios, it works great for me.

@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Hey😊 Thank you so much for your time. I really appreciate it 😁
Oh.. I've been using the hydro boost line for the past few months and it works pretty good for me.
So for AM, it's not necessary to use toner is it?
If the salicylic acid is available, can i follow like this? 👇
PM1:
cleanser
Salicylic acid
Niacinamide
100% plant-derived squalane
PM2:
Cleanser
AHA BHA
100% plant-derived squalane
It is not compulsory to wear moisturiser is it?
So, i don't have to purchase glycolic acid and granactive retinoid emulsion right?
But i heard granactive retinoid emulsion and glycolic acid are very effective for acne scars.
Thank you so much! 🌻 Lots of love ❤️
Using a toner is optional!
You can get for example a BHA (Salicylic Acid) exfoliating solution from Paula's Choice which I personally like a lot! It's the blue one from the clear line, but apparently the black one is great too!😊
Only use a moisturiser if you feel the need!
Yes, this is a great combination, have a look at this routine:

great instructions, im using The ordinary natural moisturising + HA but i’ve been told to use spf50 instead if i want. What spf50 would you recommend? im afraid to buy wrong one /:
You can use an SPF of 30 or higher! Also, you only need to use sunscreen when being outside (exposed to the sun).
Nivea, La Roche Posay or EltMD have great sunscreens! :)

Well, there are several options available, and I actually have an older video that explains how to set it up.
You can find the video here: ruclips.net/video/diaLVk_EsI4/видео.html
Just a quick tip: The Ordinary Glycolic Acid toner is also an exfoliating acid toner. Therefore, avoid using it on the same day that you plan to use the peeling solution.
Hi thanks for good explanation....I just have small question after peeling the day after can I start my daily routine like ascorbic acid ?
Generally, yes. Just keep in mind to constantly adjust it to your skin needs. If you feel that it isn't working well, space them further apart :)
Hello, i have a question..
I'm 20 I've oily acne skin and I've pores too. My countries whether mostly summer so can i only use aloe Vera gel after the peeling mask instead of any serum or moisturizer? + a normal sunscreen before going out?? Please let me know

Can I use any cleanser before? Like La Roche posay effaclar cleanser? Or is it a strong cleanser for this peeling solution? 🥰🥰
that may be a bit drying. I recommend using a hydrating cleanser instead.
Can I use a moisturizer containing niacinamide after using this peeling solution?
yes
Hi!! Thanks for the videos, quick question...can I apply makeup after doing this? Or should I wait for a couple of days? Is my first time using this product.
Well, you should use the Peeling Solution in the evening so, you can apply makeup the next day/morning. However, if you are using the Peeling Solution in the evening, before going out, like join a Party or so, yes you can use makeup after that.

Yes, you can add your retinol serum after the mask, still, if you want to incorporate multiple Vitamin C's, Retinoids, and/or Direct Acids into your skincare regimen, I suggested using them on alternate evenings and waiting until your skin has adjusted to one before introducing another.

Your routine looks great! Yes, that's fine you can use both masks during the same week if you have a break in between :)
I recommend using Niacinamide once per day for a while to see how your skin reacts to it before using it twice per day :) This way you will see what your skin prefers :)
