Vale have a lot going for them. The Shanahan family have invested big in the Vale Park stadium and the youth squad which is now providing both players for use by Vale and some tasty transfer revenue. That is being reinvested in the team under Darren Moore who is on a 5 year contract. They have the basics right and I personally can’t see them being in L2 beyond this season.

I’m a Vale fan and I always said Darren Moore wasn’t brought in to keep us up but to bring us back and he has got a very solid squad for that level. Dare I say it is looking promising.
Mad thing is, and I don't say this to be big headed, but we're top of the league at the moment and I don't think we've even got out of third gear this season yet. We've had so many injuries and haven't had what many would consider our best starting 11 out on the pitch yet, so there should be much more to come. But in League Two you have to be up for it every game. We were humbled by Barrow and very nearly lost to Accrington recently.

If any team finishes above us, they will win the league. I’ve been going Vale for 40 years and the way we beat Fleetwood on Saturday was as good as it’s been for a decade or more. The squad we have is better than the one we got promoted with two years ago. And way better than the one just relegated. Also, we are without standout players to come back or just unleashed! John. Byers. Paton. Hart. Benitio just coming back. Curtis in and out. Tolaj rested. Hackford ready to come on. Diamond Edwards in the wings. Heneghan at centre back if needed. Amos in goal should he be called upon. Nathan Smith can’t get a look in! If I’ve missed anyone I apologise but what a squad. We will walk the league. A squad too good fr the league. A manager way too good for the league. Facilities to good for the league. Owners who have backed us after last seasons debacle. It could be as good as done by March.
After losing 4-0 at Barrow and then at home to Doncaster I was fearing a shocking season. However, things are looking really good. Darren Moore is doing well.
Only problem with being a Vale fan is you get blue balled most seasons, moments of momentum and where we look to go on and be dominant is extinguished through a random loss leading to dropped heads as well as injuries and relying on few less gifted players or loan players but like you said with depth we can mitigate that a bit. Vale fans just want to see consistency and fight and the last few years have spells in inconsistency. I think Darrell Clarkes sacking was the start last year to our relegation, Darren has bought players in he knows and trusts which will help. I want to see the domination of our 2012/2013 season again.

We were quality again on Saturday. It’s night and day between this season and last so far.
