Today we open up a triple pane window and extract 3 separate panes of glass, which I’ll cut to size with a standard glass cutter. They'll be used in an old door with standard single pane windows that need replacing. This not only solves a problem of someones broken windows, but it also reduces the amount of waste that would be put in a landfill, and with the extra panels I'll cut an extra one just in case something happens down the road, the owner will have one on hand ready to go. The other pieces will be used in my etching projects and custom orders.

    Thank you. Very helpful.
Im removing some old double pain windows in the porch. I want to reuse the glass to make diamond shape leaded glass panels to insert on each side of the replacement window.

Thanks. I need to cut a window smaller soon, and don't really know what I'm doing; and this was very helpful.

I have a double pane window. The seal has been compromised and I can no longer see out of the window. At this point I don't have the money to replace the window. Is it possible to break the outside glass without breaking the inner pane then removing the pieces of glass? I would like to be able to see out of the window once again even if it would only have 1 pane left.

Pamela Kai a few thoughts.... although it may be possible to use a glass cutter to score entirely around the outside edge of whichever window is the problematic one and remove the pane without completely disassembling the window like i did in this video, you would have exposed cut edges (which I suppose you could caulk over or use some kind of window putty to cover it up) but you’ll lose a lot of the thermal insulation that is caused with the two panes and probably not look all that great. If i were in your position, i would first check a store like habitat for humanity or the ReStore or similar.Sometimes they have windows for only a few dollars and you may be able to find one that fits. (Maybe FB marketplace - sometimes people are redoing windows and tossing the old ones even though some of them are probably in better shape than the one you have a problem with) Also, if you do try to remove the bad pane, and something goes wrong with the cut/ you could end up with no window.. so keep that in mind as well. Jot down the measurements of your window and keep em on hand.. maybe you’ll see one for free on the side of the road like i did with this window, and you can make sure it’s the right size before you grab it and take it home. Good luck and thanks for stopping by!

It's too bad you gave away your political affiliation, which makes us assume you're being fed inaccurate data. It's a shame. But your video was very helpful and informative. It's obvious you've done this a few times, and gathered quite a skill. Good to see you're recycling old glass. Thanks posting.

joe quillun Thank you for taking the time to comment! I appreciate it. I’m glad the video was helpful for you. As far as my diet, I only eat accurate data, but I appreciate your concern. I don’t have any political affiliations. I just care about people.
