Hey Mike, same concept with 1" laminated? Two 1/2" pieces, laminated? I have two sheets. One is 68x33, the other is 84x33. I'm looking to split the two, down the center. Clearly much heavier, than the glass in your video. Any advice, in attempting this? Or should I pay a professional?
I’ve just watched a man who knows what he’s doing, and doing what he knows. No fuss no bells and whistles, just a good job.
thanks m
Hi! Are there any techniques to cut off a piece of like 1/2 inch?
Very professional Mike, Just listening at you and watching your work I can see you have a very successful business!!...thanks for the tip!
Another excellent video
mhm
Well done, I'm a professional glazier/store front mechanic and u did a nice professional job there. The hard part is doing it in the field on the side of a truck! And when the piece is a 8'x8' block size and u Have to cut it in!
BLACKLACDTS that's what you call a professional
I had to break down a whole case of 72/144 on the side of my truck, by myself. I screwed up the first cut, and started to get anxious, but rallied to get the job done. I've got about 35 yrs in it too.
I'm glad you can see your crack!...LOL. But seriously a very good video. Very informative. Thanks
Thank You,
I think I can do this. I'll have to wear my reading glasses, But what happened to your eye protection. Thank you once again.
Jerry
Ese pedacito de vidrio laminado es facil cortarlo creo que cualquiera lo lograria. Me gustaria ver que corte una lamina por la mitad
How would you cut a curve ?
using denatured alcohol is also pretty good to use after you've scored both sides, and cracked the cut.
Wish I had have watched this before discovering the glass I had today was laminated. I got the job done but not like that. The old angle grinder "A" but thinking about it your way the only way!
laminated glass is blindex glass? thanks anyone who answer
Hi Mike do you provide training for glass work ?
Finally! I have found a video of a "real glazier " that knows how to cut and handle glass properly. Thank you Mike. I am glazier and master glass cutter for over 35 years.
+Johnnyred51 Thanks!! that a huge complement. Nice to hear. Glad to see your a Giants Fan too!! its an even year!
Johnnyred51 white people
"Master Glass Cutter"??? No such a thing exists. "Masterbater" ...more likely.
This is how youtube it is supposed to be. Well done sir.
Just don't cut laminated glass when is temper
is temepered glass the same as laminate or safety glass
i don't know if you know about this but with laminated glass after cutting the both sides you can get rid of that plastic by spraying alcohol substance all over the cutting area and lift a little bit the glass high and put down very smoothly . so it's easy with alcohol than using a sharp blade to split that plastic from the glass .
Could I cut off a 20cm strip along the longer side of a 2x1m laminated glass? (2x6mm in thickness)
What about cutting thin strips of these?
Please let me know about training
I have to trim a thin strip out of a double glazed glass panel (3cm wide) I cannot break the cut easily like the way you do because your cut is near the middle point. How would I break mine ? Help - Thank You in advance
Very good 👍
Thanks for the visit
Thanks for this video, perfectly described what I needed to know! Putting windshield halves in a International KB-7 which has flat glass, Very good video
Hi. I have one of them small glass shelves from an IKEA cabinet. I would like to cut off a very small edge. Can it be done ? And if so, with which tool : a oil glass cutter or a dremel ? Thx for the advice
No denatured alcohol, no fun
Life saviour! I ordered two glass panels and they arrived today... But they are too long :( I'm going to try this before going back to the store.
Is that a toughened glass ??
This is a very small glass how to cut big size sheet 225×321 cm
Thank you for your video, very well done. Do you have a video showing rectangle cut glass with an archway top? I need to replace glass in my china cabinet. Thank you.
if you use denatured alcohol on the vinyl after the cuts you wont need the razor blade
Instead of using a razor blade I use methylhydrate in a little squeeze bottle.
I want to try this but my luck everything will shatter
Hi Mike. Great video. Can you show me how to cut a curved shape in laminated glass?
dude all you need is methyl hydrate to cut the vinyl after you have both cuts.........thicker vinyl you can ignite methyl to burn vinyl no blades needed.
Can you cut sections of glass out of a larger peice, another words sectioning out a peice with two cuts ?
Mike Monaghan does this affect the mechanical properties of the glass?
The only difference to the mechanical properties are in direct correlation to the properties of the size of glass that was cut. Such as the surface area distribution of pressure, being that it has a different surface area. But other than that, no, it will still act like tempered glass, and will gain the capacities and limitations of the new dimensions, just as it would if it was originally created at that size. (sorry Michel to have this show up in your notifications a year later, but I had the same question before doing some more research. So I wanted to leave a response here for anyone else who has the same question)
Hope to have the opportunity of trade cooperation, at the same time we also provide retail!
do vending machines which hold chocolat bars have laminated glass on them if anybody knows can you please reply thanks..
EVERY DAY YOU LEARN SOMETHING, THESE TIME I LEARN AND SAVED $$$$$$$ THANK YOU
Yes, you can. That is planned for a future video. Not wanting to show open flame on a basic video yet.
thanks mm
Thanks - this helped me get through a project!
No gloves 🧤?! Wow not smart .
Tempered is nicer,A lot stronger. PLus when it blows you have a board up,Lami doesn't do that as you know. Bad part is Temp doesn't cut,So its junk if its not the right siz Lami is glass plastic in the middle,Idk if he said that at the end of the video,I typed this b4 it finished
Tempered is not stronger than lami
The same way it's done in my shop. Nice video.
